The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of giving levels of secang wood extract and lemuru fish oil on the appearance of laying quails which included feed consumption, Hen Day Production (HDP), feed conversion of quail egg mortality. This study used Autumn strain quail with a population of 168 individuals with basal feed supplemented with several levels of secang wood extract. This research method is an experiment using a completely randomized design (CRD) factorial with 4 treatments with 6 replications with each repetition consisting of 7 quails aged 10-15 weeks. The treatment was as follows: P0 = basal feed without the addition of secang wood extract P1 = basal feed + 0.2% EKS + 4% MIL, P2 = basal feed + 0.4% EKS + 4% MIL, P3 = basal feed + 0 , 6% EX + 4% MIL. The addition of a combination of secang wood extract and fish oil was carried out according to the level of quail feeding. The variable being measured; feed consumption, Hen Day Production (HDP), Feed conversion, mortality. Addition of secang wood extract with a level of 0%; 0.2%; 0.4%; 0.6%, and 4% lemuru fish oil had no significant effect on feed consumption, hen day production, feed conversion, mortality, this was due to flavonoids, polyphenols and active compounds in oil. lemuru fish does not affect the appearance of quail egg production. Flavonoid compounds in low concentrations have no effect on chicken feed consumption, because the content of flavonoid compounds can still be tolerated by the chicken body. The use of lemuru fish oil with a concentration of up to 6% in quails does not affect the consumption of quail feed, because the addition of lemuru fish oil does not affect the palatability of quail feed. The conclusion of this study was that the addition of secang wood extract. The addition of secang wood extract and lemuru fish oil did not affect hen day production, feed conversion and mortality of laying quails

This research aimed is to determine the effect of Secang extract addition and sardinella fish oil as feed additive on eggs performance and production of quail. The 98 quails and 10 weeks divided into 4 groups with unequal replication using the completely randomized design. The treatment which are P0 (based ration), P1 (based ration + 0,2% secang extract + 4% sardinella fish oil), P2 (based ration + 0,4% secang extract + 4% sardinella fish oil), P3 (based ration + 0,6% secang extract + 4% sardinella fish oil). The parameters observed were length storage time of egg, egg cholesterol rate, feed consumption, egg weight, hen day production, egg mass, feed conversion and mortality. Data were analyzed by ANOVA and Duncan’s analysis. The results showed that Secang extract addition and sardinella fish oil were increase egg cholesterol (P<0.05) and not significantly (P>0.05) on length storage time of egg and production of quail.

This research aimed to determine the effect of different energy and protein level giving in Arabic chicken on feed consumption, egg production and feed conversion. The materials used for this experiment were 80 heads of arabic chicken 5 months age and maintained for 6 weeks (36 days). The method used was completely randomized design (CRD) which consists of 4 treatments and 10 replications that R1 (protein 15% and EM 2 500 Kcal), R2 (protein 16% and EM 2 600 Kcal), R3 (protein 17% and EM 2 700 Kcal) and R4 (protein 18% and EM 2 800 Kcal). Analysis of variance showed that treatment significantly (P<0.05) on feed consumption, egg production and feed conversion. It could be concluded that more increasing energy and protein, the higher egg production, feed consumption and generates optimal feed conversion. Energy and protein with a protein level of 18% and energy 2 800 Kcal kg-1 showed better performance.

PERFORMANS OF QUAIL (Coturnix – coturnix japonica) PROVIDED CONCH PADDY (Pila ampullacea) FLOUR  AS A SUBSTITUTE FOR FISH FLOUR IN THE RATION. This research aims to determine the extent to which the use of conch paddy (Pila ampullacea) flour as a substitute for fish flour in the ration on the performances of Quail (Coturnix- Coturnix japonica). This research used 60 quail 5-week-old female and for data collection was performed 8 weeks. The design used was a completely randomized design (CRD), which consists of 4 treatments and 5 replications. Such treatment is the conch paddy flour with some level of giving in the ration, which is : R0 = 0% conch paddy flour + 15% fish flour, R1 = 5% conch paddy flour + 10% fish flour, R2 = 10% conch paddy flour + 5% fish flour, and R3 = 15% conch paddy flour + 0% fish flour. Variables measured in order to see the response of quail to the conch paddy flour is feed consumption, egg production and feed conversion. Results of analysis of variance showed that the treatment was not significantly different on feed consumption, egg production and feed conversion. Based on the results of this research indicate conch paddy flour up to the level of 15% can be used as a substitute for fish flour in the ration of quail. ABSTRACT ADDITION TURMERIC, GINGER RHIZOME AND WHITE RHIZOME OF COMMERCIAL RATION ON QUAILS’ PERFORMANCES. This study aims to determie the effectiveness of the addition of Turmeric powder (Curcuma domestica Val), Javanese ginger powder (Curcuma xanthorriza Roxb) and White turmeric powder (Curcuma zedoaria Rosc) in a commercial ration towardsthe performance of quail. The material used were 120 female quails 6 weeks of age. We used the Completely Randomized Design with 4 treatments and 5 replications. The treatments were applied as follows : R0 = basic ration without turmeric, Javanese ginger, and white turmeric powder, R1 = base + 2% ration turmeric powder, R2 = base + 2% ration Javanese ginger powder, R3 = base + 2% ration of Javanese ginger and white turmeric powder. The results showed that the addition of turmeric powder, Javanese ginger powder and white turmeric powder in the ration was not significantly different (P > 0.05) on the performance of quails (feed consumption, egg production and feed conversion). We conclude that the addition of turmeric powder, Javanese ginger powder, and white turmeric powder as much as 2% in commercial rations didn’t raise the feedconsumption, egg production, and surpresses the feed conversion. PRODUCTION PERFORMANCE OF LAYING HENS MB 402 FED RATION COINTAINING OIL OF  CAKALANG FISH WASTE (Skipjack Tuna). This study was conducted to determine the production performance of laying hens (MB 402) fed ration containing fish oil waste. The materials used in this study were 100 laying hens at the age of 36 weeks. The treatments used were: 100% basal feed (R0), basal feed 99 % with  1% FOW (R1), basal feed 98% with 2% FOW (R2), basal feed  97% with 3% FOW (R3), basal feed 96% with 4% FOW (R4). Variables observed were including feed consumption (g/bird), Hen Day Production (%), feed conversion. Method used was the completely randomized design (CRD) continued by Duncan’s test for the significant analysis of variance. Treatments were replicated 5 times consist of 4 laying hens per replication. Results showed that the use of fish oil waste had no significant effect (P < 0.05) on feed consumption, Hen Day Production and feed conversion. Based on the results of this study, it was concluded that use of fish oil waste in the diet as much as 4 % could be recommended in ration to give the sama production performance of laying hens (MB 402). UTILIZATION OF GOROHO BANANA PEEL FLOUR (Musa acuminafe, L) IN RATION ON EGG PRODUCTION PERFORMANCE OF LAYING HENS.  The objective of this study was to evaluate the utilization goroho banana peel flour (Musa acuminafe, L) in ration on production performance of laying hens (strain of MB 402). Total of 100 laying hens (strain of MB 402) at the age of 36 weeks old were used in this study. Treatments were using basal ration without goroho banana peel flour (R0), basal ration of 98% added with goroho banana peel flour of 2% (R1), basal ration of 96% added with goroho banana peel flour of 4% (R2), basal ration of 94% added with goroho banana peel flour of 6% (R3), and basal ration of 92% added with goroho banana peel flour of 8% (R4). Each treatment was replicated in to 5 replications. Variables measured were including feed consumption (g/head/day), egg production (%), and feed conversion. Completely randomized design was applied the research method with Duncan’s multiple range test for the significance treatments affecting variables. Results showed that utilization goroho banana peel flour (Musa acuminafe, L) in ration did not significantly affect on feed consumption, egg production and feed conversion. Therefore, it can be concluded that utilization goroho banana peel flour (Musa acuminafe, L) in ration up to 8 percents might be applied in ration of laying hens (strain of MB 402).   Keywords: Egg production, performance, goroho banana peel flour, laying hens

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of different IgY concentrations on the production, reproduction and immunity of Sentul chicken. This research used 20 month-old Sentul chickens which consisting of 10 chickens with high IgY concentration and 10 chickens with low IgY concentration Parameters observed included prelayer performance (feed consumption, weight gain, feed conversion, morbidity and mortality), layer performance (feed consumption, egg production, egg weight, feed conversion, hatchability, morbidity and mortality), and immunity at chicks (IgY concentration of eggs and chicks serum). The experiment was conducted as a completely randomized design. The treatments were high and low IgY concentration. All treatments were repeated 10 times. The data obtained were analyzed using the SAS program t-test. Morbidity and mortality were analyzed descriptively. The results of this research indicated that the prelayer period, chickens with high IgY concentration had a higher performance than chicken with low IgY concentration. This is caused by about 30% chickens with low IgY were in sick condition for approximately seven days. Further, the layer period showed that the chickens with high IgY concentration had lower production performance than the chicken with low IgY concentration. The study concluded that chickens at low IgY concentrations are susceptible to exposure to antigens that lead to decreased productivity. In normal conditions hens, Sentul with high IgY concentration resulted in low production. The observation of chicken immunity showed that concentration of IgY from chicks and eggs did not differ between hens with high IgY concentrations and hens with low IgY concentrations.

 This study aimed to evaluate the increasing levels (0, 1, 2, 3 e 4%) of fish by-product meal in diets for laying hens on performance, egg quality and economic analysis. A total of 160 Dekalb White hens with 52-wk old were distributed in a completely randomized design with five treatments and four replicates of eight birds each. The experiment lasted 84 days divided into four periods of 21 days. Estimates of fish by-product meal levels were determined by polynomial regression. Differences (p < 0.05) were detected for all variables of performance, in egg weight, yolk and albumen percentage, yolk and albumen height, feed cost and production cost, in which the inclusion of fish by-product meal in the diets showed better results. It can be concluded that fish by-product meal can be used in diets for hens as alternative feed, with better results in egg production, feed conversion, egg weight, yolk-albumen ratio and a reduction in feed cost and production cost.

Moringa leaves contain phytochemicals which can be used to improve the performance of quails in their growing period.  This study was aimed at assessing the effects of the inclusion of moringa leaf solution in drinking water on the performance of quails.  The study was conducted at Badrupuyuh Farm, Sukajaya Village RT 01/02, Ciomas, Bogor Regency from October to December 2017.  One-hundred quail birds aged 7 days with average initial body weight of 17.87±0.46 g were used.  The birds were fed starter and grower commercial rations.  Moringa leaf solution was given through drinking water.  A completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 5 replicates was used.   Treatments consisted of drinking water containing no moringa leaf solution (R0), drinking water containing 5% moringa leaf solution (R1), drinking water containing 10% moringa leaf solution (R2), drinking water containing 15% moringa leaf solution (R3).  Data were subjected to an analysis of variance and a Duncan test.  Measurements were taken on feed intake, body weight gain (BWG), feed conversion, and mortality rate.  Results showed that there were significant effects (P<0.05) of treatments on BWG in week 2 and 4 and feed conversion in week 2.  No mortality of quails was found.  It was concluded that the inclusion of 10% moringa leaf solution in drinking water could increase BWG in week 2 and 4, improve feed conversion, and maintain the life of quails.  It was recommended that further studies on the effects of moringa leaf solution inclusion in drinking water on egg production in laying period.  Key words: performance, quail, moringa leaf solution

ABSTRAKLimbah udang merupakan limbah pengolahan udang yang memiliki potensi sebagai pakan sumber protein bagi ternak puyuh. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji penggunaan tepung limbah udang (TLU) sebagai sumber protein pakan pada puyuh fase layer. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap empat perlakuan lima ulangan perlakuan yang digunakan terdiri dari empat level penggunaan tepung limbah udang dalam ransum yaitu P0 (kontrol), P1 (5% TLU), P2 (7,5% TLU) dan P3 (10% TLU), tiap unit perlakuan disi dengan 5 ekor puyuh. Puyuh yang diguanakan adalah puyuh fase layer umur 20 minggu, sebanyak 100 ekor yang didistribusikan kedalam 20 unit percobaan. Bahan pakan yang digunakan adalah jagung, dedak padi, konsentrat petelur dan tepung limbah udang. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis ragam dan data yang berbeda nyata (P<0,05) diuji lanjut menggunakan uji duncan. Variabel yang diamati adalah performa produksi: konsumsi pakan, produksi telur, bobot telur dan konversi ransum. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan TLU dalam ransum (P1,P2 dan P3) menunjukkan pengaruh nyata (P<0,05) dibanding kontrol pada minggu ke-tiga penelitian terhadap bobot telur dan konversi ransum, penggunaan TLU (P1,P2,P3) selama lima minggu meningkatkan konsumsi ransum (P<0,05) dibanding kontrol tetapi tidak berbeda nyata (P>0,05) terhadap produksi telur, bobot telur dan konversi ransum. Kesimpulan penelitian ini bahwa penggunaan TLU dalam ransum dapat digunakan hingga level 7,5% sedangkan level 10% menunjukkan adanya penurunan rata-rata performa produksi.Kata kunci: tepung limbah udang, puyuh fase layer, performa produksiABSTRACTShrimp waste was shrimp processing waste which has the potential as protein source for quail feed. This study was aimed to examine the use of shrimp waste flour (SWF) asprotein source for laying quail feed. This study used  completely randomized design that consist of four treatments and five replications.The treatmentswere using levels of shrimp waste flour in feed and consist of P0 (control), P1 (5% SWF), P2 (7.5% SWF) and P3 (10% SWF ). Each treatment unit was filled with 5 quails. One hundred of 20 weeks laying quails were used in this study. Self mixing feed that contained corn, rice bran, laying concentrate and shrimp waste flour were used in this study. The data obtained were analyzed using analyze of variance and continued using Duncan multiple range test. The variables observed were production performance that consist of feed consumption, egg production, egg weight and feed conversionratio. The results showed that the use of SWF in feed (P1, P2 and P3) showed a significant effect (P <0.05) compared to controls in the third week of research on egg weight and feed conversion ratio.The use of SWF (P1, P2, P3) for five weeks increased feed consumption (P <0.05) compared to controls but not significantly different (P>0.05) for egg production, egg weight and feed conversion. The conclusion of this study was the use of SWF in feed can be used until 7.5% on laying quail feed while the level of 10% indicates a decrease in average production performance.Keywords: shrimp waste flour, laying quail, production performance
