ABSTRACT Background : Overweight and obesity is a common health problem and continues to increase at this time.Overweight and obesity can affect both all ages ranging from children, adolescents, to the elderly, and all genders, either male or women. Factors that influenced obesity including genetic, physical activity, and eating patterns. In addition, quality of life and duration of sleep were among the factors that affected obesity. Less sleeping at night was related to the occurrence of overweight. The occurrence of overweight became higher whena person slept with a duration of 7 hours per day. This showed that the less time to sleep the greater the occurrence of overweight. While the quality of one's life was related to unhealthy lifestyles such as the habits of having dinner and snacks at night, the habit of eating high-fat fast food, and rarely exercising.Objective: To determine the correlation between sleep duration and quality of life with obesity in Nursing students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto.Method: Observational analytic with cross sectional approach was used in this study. The samples were taken by using random sampling technique. There were 30 respondents who fit the inclusion and exclusion criteria.Univariate and bivariate with chi square test were used to analyzed the data.Results: (1)There was a correlation between sleep duration and obesity in Nursing students with a value = 0.025.(2) There was no relationship between quality of life and obesity in Nursing students with a value = 0.855. Conclusions: Lack of sleeping can affect the occurrence of overweight to someone but there is no effect on the quality of life to overweight. The transition of elderly lives from productive periods to non-productive makes them need support from relatives, friends or family. The purpose of this study was to look at the relationship between family appreciation support with quality and life satisfaction of the elderly in the city of Depok, West Java, with a cross-sectional design. The subjects of this study were 135 elderly people> 60 years old, living with family, do not have infectious diseases, able to communicate in Indonesian; selected by purposive sampling technique. Data were analyzed using Chi square test. The results of the study indicate that there was a relationship between family appreciation support with the quality of life of the elderly (p-value = 0.022) and life satisfaction of the elderly (p-value = 0.014). The results of this study are expected to support the development of nursing science in the future, especially regarding the quality and satisfaction of life of the elderly. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat hubungan antara dukungan penghargaan keluarga dengan kualitas dan kepuasan hidup lansia di Kota Depok, Jawa Barat, dengan desain cross-sectional. Subyek penelitian ini adalah 135 lansia yang berusia >60 tahun, tinggal bersama keluarga, tidak memiliki penyakit menular, mampu berkomunikasi dengan bahasa Indonesia; yang dipilih dengan teknik purposive sampling. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji Chi square. Hasil peneltian menunjukkan bahwa ada hubungan antara dukungan penghargaan keluarga dengan kualitas hidup lansia (p-value = 0,022) dan kepuasan hidup lansia (p-value = 0,014). Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat mendukung perkembangan ilmu keperawatan di masa mendatang, khususnya tentang kualitas dan kepuasan hidup lansia. Introduction: Neuropathic pain is caused by the malfunctioning of the central nervous system or the peripheral nervous system. This pain is chronic and so it disrupts a patient’s quality of life which can lead to them becoming frustrated. Aim: The purpose of this study was to compare the quality of life of neuropathic patients using either gabapentin or pregabalin at the neuropathic clinic of the Regional General Hospital of West Nusa Tenggara Province in 2019. Methods: This study used a cross-sectional study design. The sampling technique that was used was purposive sampling which was carried out by filling out the EQ-5D-3L and EQ-VAS questionnaires. Results: The results showed no significant difference between the quality of life of the patients using gabapentin and the patients using pregabalin as the EQ-5D-3L questionnaire had a value of p = 0.683. There was no significant difference between the quality of life between the gabapentin and pregabalin groups using the EQ-VAS questionnaire which had a value of p = 1.000.

Abstract Progress which occurs in health mainly gives impact on the increase in health quality, especially on the increase of life expectancy among elderly. Family is the main support system for elderly in terms of maintaining their health. The higher the family support, the better the quality of life of the elderly. In addition, quality of life is an indicator to evaluate the success of intervention on prevention and cure. The purpose of this research is to know relationship family support with quality of life of the elderly. Type of study is an analytic observational with cross sectional design. The population of the research is the whole of the elderly in the working area of the Sidomulyo Rawat Jalan Health Center Pekanbaru with a purposive sampling technique. Samples taken were 40 respondents. The independent variable is family support and the dependent variable is the quality of life of the elderly. The research data was taken using a questionnaire. This research was conducted in in the working area of the Sidomulyo Rawat Jalan Health Center Pekanbaru on march 21-25 2019. The result of Fisher’s test obtained p value (0,020) that’s means there is relationship family support with quality of life of the elderly. Therefore, the research can be used as information for the health center in the quality of family support involving elderly cadres to reduce the decline in the quality of life of the elderly.   Abstrak Kemajuan di bidang kesehatan berdampak pada meningkatnya kualitas kesehatan serta meningkatnya umur harapan hidup terutama penduduk lanjut usia. Keluarga merupakan support system utama bagi lansia dalam mempertahankan kesehatannya. Dukungan keluarga yang tinggi akan meningkatkan kualitas hidup lansia. Kualitas hidup merupakan indikator untuk menilai keberhasilan intervensi dari segi pencegahan dan pengobatan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan dukungan keluarga dengan kualitas hidup lansia. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah observasional analitik dengan rancangan cross sectional. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh lansia yang ada di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Sidomulyo Rawat Jalan Pekanbaru dengan teknik purposive sampling. Sampel yang diambil sebanyak 40 responden. Variabel independennya adalah dukungan keluarga dan variabel dependennya adalah kualitas hidup lansia. Data penelitian ini diambil dengan menggunakan kuesioner. Penelitian ini dilakukan di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Sidomulyo Rawat Jalan Pekanbaru pada tanggal 21-25 Maret 2019. Hasil uji Fisher’s didapatkan nilai p value (0,020) artinya terdapat hubungan dukungan keluarga dengan kualitas hidup lansia. Dengan demikian, penelitian ini dapat dijadikan sebagai informasi bagi pihak puskesmas dalam kualitas dukungan keluarga yang melibatkan kader lansia untuk mengurangi penurunan kualitas hidup lansia.

An individual's ability or self-empowerment of the elderly in meeting needs, solving problems, utilizing existing resources for their lives. Self empowerment experienced by the elderly causes changes in the quality of life. The purpose of the study was to identify the relationship between self-empowerment and the quality of life of the elderly in RW 02, TKK sub-district/district, Surabaya City. This research uses cross sectional approach and correlational method. The independent variable is self-empowerment and the dependent variable is quality of life. The population in this study were all elderly who were in the RW 02 area, TKK sub-district/district, Surabaya as many as 34 elderly. Sampling used a total sampling technique, namely 34 respondents. The measuring instrument used is the WHOQOL questionnaire and the self-empowerment questionnaire. The results of the study were statistical tests using chi-square and showed that there was a significant relationship (p = 0,000) and was a strong relationship (r = 1,000) between self empowerment and the quality of life of the elderly in RW 02, TKK sub-district/district, Surabaya City. Problems that arise in the elderly include the inability to access health services, no old-age insurance and lack of social support. As a result of these problems, the elderly feel powerless and useless (lack of self-empowerment) in everyday life.                     Keywords: Self Empowerment, Quality of Life, Elderly

The problem faced by the elderly as human aging process is a process and natural. Some problems and disorders that frequently arise or occur in the elderly is declining cognitive function. Cognitive decline in the elderly is usually preceded by decline of memory or memory (forgetfulness) and other cognitive mengggu real life activities. The purpose of this study was to find out: "The correlation between cognitive function and quality of life in the elderly (60-74 years) in Barusari Vilage of South Semarang. This research is a descriptive correlative with cross sectional design. The population in this study is that all elderly people aged 60-74 years.The sampling technique used is total sampling. Bivariate test using chi square test. The results showed that the cognitive function of elderly most categories of serious disturbance (48.1%), and most of the quality of life category is independently as many as 32 people (61.5%). Statistical test results found there is significant correlation between cognitive function and quality of life in the elderly (60-74 years) in Barusari Vilage of South Semarang with p value of 0.000.Based on the results of the study are expected to nursing profession are expected to provide nursing assistance to the elderly who have suffered physical setbacks by helping in order to keep good quality of life and help in order to have good cognitive abilities.

The quality of life in elderly hypertension with overweight and non-overweightBackground: Indonesia will enter the period of aging and an increase in several elderlies with chronic diseases. The biggest health problems of the elderly are degenerative diseases, namely hypertension which significantly disrupts the quality of life both in terms of physical and mental health. One of the causal conditions associated with hypertension is overweight and obesity, which is known at this time the prevalence of obesity is growing progressively in old age. However, the results of research related to the influence of obesity on quality of life are still controversial.Objective: To determine differences in quality of life between hypertensive elderly who are overweight and non-overweight.Method: Cross-sectional study conducted in Yogyakarta City in Januari-April 2017 with a subject of 200 elderly people aged 60-74 years. Overweight was determined based on BMI measurements (>23 kg/m2) with an estimation of elderly height using depa length, quality of life of the elderly was measured using WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire, and compared the quality of life by age, gender, education, occupation, income, marital status, comorbidity, and disease history. Data analysis used independent t-test and linear regression.Results: Mean of environmental domain score was significantly higher (p=0,012) in elderly hypertension with overweight (26,69±3,28) compared to elderly hypertension non-overweight (25,44±3,58). Overweight protective effect on the low quality of life of the environment domain because it is influenced by other factors such as marital status, income, and education. Multivariate analysis shows that income and marital status are external factors that consistently influence the quality of life of the elderly both in total scores and per domain. High-income elderly people with married status have a better quality of life score.Conclusions: The mean score of the environmental domain is higher in elderly hypertension with overweight. Quality of life scores will be better in high income elderly and married.

The study design was cross-sectional descriptive correlative approach. Data collection tool is a questionnaire guide. Sample of 35 respondents using accidental sampling technique. The independent variable in this study is the family support and the dependent variable quality of life of patients with post-stroke. The results showed 16 respondents, or 45.8% of respondents received sufficient family support. Respondents who have a sufficient quality of life amounted to 15 respondents or 42.7%. By Spearman Rho obtained significance value (p value = 0.00) <(α = 0.05), which proved to be no family support relationships with the quality of life of the elderly after a stroke. Post-stroke patients have problems of physical health, psychological, level of dependence, social relationships, environment and personal beliefs. Therefore, they need emotional support, awards, instrumental and information, especially of the family as the people closest to them thus improving patient quality of life after stroke

Prevention and care of the elderly is to maintain the health of the elderly with regard food consumed, accompany and help the elderly carry out their activities and taking care of personal hygiene to maintain hygiene and optimal health that requires the support and attention of the family themselves. Quality of life in elderly quality is the functional condition of elderly in optimal conditions, so that they can enjoy their old age meaningful, happy and useful. The purpose of this research is to identify whether there is any relationship perception of prevention and treatment of families with the quality of life in older adults with chronic diseases. This study used cross sectional design, which used 81 samples using purposive sampling technique. The results obtained are elderly with < 65 years (58%) were female (63%) low education (58%) to stay with family (74%) and suffered from asthma (28%) for ≥ 3 months (56,8%). Perception prevention families with chronically ill elderly poor (55.6%) and family care punn poor (50.6%), thus affecting the quality of life in older adults with chronic diseases. Researchers suggest to families to better prevention and treatment to improve the quality of life of the elderly

ABSTRACT Good spiritual owned by the elderly will help them in maintaining the relationship with God, people around, and environment, so that they can realize and know the purpose of life in the future. Elderly suffer from various health problems due to the vulnerability of many physical and mental disorders. Quality of life in the elderly can be influenced by many environmental factors. Quality of life tends to be good when the physical and psychological conditions are healthy and functioning properly. The research method used analytic correlation with cross-sectional design, the population in this study was the elderly who were more than 45 years old, the sampling technique was Simple Random Sampling with 83 samples. Analysis technique to determine the relationship betwen spiritual status with quality of life of the elderly used Spearman test. The results of this study said that most of the respondents' spiritual status can be categorized as high as 48 people (57.8%) and most of the quality of life of respondents can be categorized as good as 46 people (55.4%). In other words, it can be concluded that Spearman Rho test results indicated that Significancyp value = 0.004 (p <0.005). For the result, it means that there was a relationship between spiritual status and quality of life of elderly. Quality of life is a humans’s subjective feelings about their well-being, based on their current life experience, in which spiritual significantly is able to help the elderly and provide services to adapt with changes caused by chronic disease. Background: Old age or elderly is the final stage of the normal life span. The elderly population is facing many health problems such as physical, mental, psychological and social etc. Factors like loneliness, low self-esteem, social isolation, quality of life and several others negatively affect elderly population and increase the risk of various health problems in elderly people.Methods: A cross sectional study was conducted, in which 200 elderly from Sirmour participated and the subjects were selected using total enumeration sampling technique. For the data collection the Semi-structured interview schedule, WHO brief-26 QoL assessment scale and Rosenberg self-esteem scale (10-items) were used and data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics in SPSS version-23.Results: Present study shows that religion, education, occupation, monthly income have a very strong significant association at 0.05 level of significance with WHO bref-26 scale. Rosenberg self-esteem scale shows 165 (81.7%) of elderly have high self-esteem whereas 35 (17.3%) of them have low self-esteem. And no significant association was found between the self-esteem and demographic variable.Conclusions: Indicates that levels of QoL between elderly are moderate and many demographic, social and health factors are correlated with QoL. Also, no significant association was found between Rosenberg self-esteem scale with demographic variable.
