ABSTRACT The prevalence and numbers of Listeria monocytogenes in various categories of ready-to-eat (RTE) food products taken from retail outlets and food industries over a 5-year period are presented. A total of 30,016 RTE food samples were analyzed for L. monocytogenes prevalence, and 3.6% were found to be positive. The highest prevalence was found for RTE fish and fish products (11.6%), especially for lightly salted and cold-smoked fish products. The overall prevalence of L. monocytogenes in other food categories was low, within the range of 0 to 3.9%. In addition, 14,342 RTE food samples were analyzed to determine the numbers of L. monocytogenes. A food safety criterion of 100 CFU/g was exceeded for 0.3% of RTE food samples. Samples most often exceeding the legal safety limit were from the RTE salted and cold-smoked fish product categories. High prevalence, 28.6 and 26.5%, respectively, and high numbers of L. monocytogenes among salted fish and cold-smoked fish products indicate a risk of listeriosis, especially for susceptible risk groups. The results of the current study can be used at both the national and the international levels to update the perception of the L. monocytogenes risk deriving from RTE foods. HIGHLIGHTS

Recently, energy analysis has been added to Russian gas companies’ annual reporting system. This new practice indicates that corporate reports are improving their analyses by addressing energy issue and the financial efficiency of energy production. However, the use of summary energy indicators is limited in these annual reports. In this paper we review the history of energy analysis in Russia from the early USSR period to today. Under the guidance of energy return on investment (EROI), we compare energy efficiency indicators with financial efficiency coefficients. The results show that the value of the return on cost of sales (ROCS) is negative in certain instances, while the value of the energy return on cost of sales (EROCS) is extremely high under the example of the Russian energy company JSC “YATEC.” Money-based indicator values (ROCS and return on fix assets (ROFA)) fluctuate with internal company financial management goals, and from the outside depending on market prices. Meanwhile energy-based values (EROCS) remain stable. Added financial analysis and energy analysis in companies’ annual statements will supplement each other in practice and will present the full picture for company efficiency analysis.

The overuse of production factors will increase production costs, which at the end will reduce farming income if the additional costs incurred are higher than the additional income. In the agriculture that case known as The Law of Deminishing Return.  Therefore, this research aims to know to analyze the financial feasibility of carrot’s farming at the UD Gizi Wortel. This research was done on May 2019 until Jule 2019 at the UD. Gizi Wortel, located in the village of Jimbaran, Bandungan Sub-district, Semarang Regency. This research is using qualitative approach. The technique used for taking the sample is purposive sampling and the amount of the sample that used is just one respondent which is the owner of UD. Gizi Wortel. The analytic data that used for this research is financial feasibility analysis with BEP (Break Even Point) and R/C ratio. The results of this research showed that the  financial feasibility analysis of UD. Gizi Wortel is having production BEP of 1.788 kg every planting season, BEP price of Rp 4,470 per kg, an R/C ratio of 2.4, so the bussiness is feasible to be carried out.

To demonstrate the value of research and its implementation, the Governor’s Office requested an annual financial analysis of the INDOT Research Program to determine the return on the research investment (ROI). The current financial analysis is for research projects that completed in FY 2020. Analyses on previous year’s projects is necessary primarily due to the time it takes some project outcomes to be implemented, extending into the following year. Therefore, the FY 2020 analysis is completed in calendar 2021. The ROI analysis will supplement the annual IMPACT report by adding a more rigorous quantitative benefit cost analysis (BCA) to the Research Program. Previous financial analyses used the approach of calculating net present values of cash flows to determine a benefit cost ratio and this report uses the same approach. Additionally, an overall program rate of return (ROI) is reported and will be accumulated over time into a rolling 5-year average. While the quantitative benefit cost analysis (BCA) was rigorous, results are limited to projects where benefits and costs could be quantified, where data is available to perform a quantitative analysis. Qualitative benefits are highlighted in the companion annual IMPACT report (https://www.in.gov/indot/files/Research-Program-Impact-Report.pdf ). In 2018, INDOT unveiled its new Strategic Plan. The Strategic Plan guides the priority research needs of the Research Program and in turn the research results support accomplishing the INDOT Strategic Plan, Strategic Objectives. A new Strategic Objective has been added to the INDOT Strategic Plan addressing Innovation & Technology. Additionally, INDOT created a new Office of Innovation. While the Research Program supports all of INDOT’s Strategic Objectives, these new initiatives have further highlighted the importance of research and its role in achieving the Strategic Objectives outlined in the new INDOT Strategic Plan. There has been more emphasis of new research needs related to new technology changes and transformational technologies. This will help position INDOT for future growth, adoption of new technologies and partnering opportunities. These new research projects will provide large qualitative ROI, however are difficult to quantify due to their complexity and newness.

The purpose of this study was to determine the feasibility of vaname shrimp farming. This research was conducted in Ketapang District, South Lampung Regency in January, 2018. The samples were 35 shrimp farmers chosen usinga cluster propotionalsimple random sampling method based on their cultivation technology, i.e.traditional, semi-intensive and intensive. The research data were analyzed using the method of financial feasibility analysis and sensitivity analysis. The results showed that the vaname pondshrimp business in a traditional, semi-intensive and intensive manner was feasible to be cultivated and developed based on the criteria of NPV, IRR, Gross B/C, Net B/C, and PP. However, the results of calculations show that the business ofintensive vaname shrimp business is more feasible and profitable than semi-intensive and traditional vaname shrimp businesses. Based on the results of the sensitivity analysis, after an increase in production costs, and a decrease in the production and price of vaname shrimp, the business is still worth cultivated and developed. The sensitivity rate shows that most investment criteria are sensitive to change. Some investment criteria that are not sensitive to changes are PP, Gross B/C, and Net B/C.Key words: farm, feasibility, finance, sensitivity, vaname

Fenneman, Matthew Lollar, Derek Farnsworth, and Michael Perez and published by the UF/IFAS Food and Resource Economics Department provides research-based information and a description of satsuma mandarin markets, production costs, and potential returns for citrus growers who are considering establishing a satsuma grove in north Florida. Its purpose is to serve as a reference and model for growers to create their own enterprise budgets and make financial projections. An enterprise budget estimates revenues, costs, and net returns for a particular crop or farm enterprise to help growers assess the economic viability and risk of an enterprise, compare enterprises, and evaluate production or marketing changes. The budget and financial analysis may assist prospective and current satsuma growers, agricultural consultants, and lenders with planning and decision making.http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/fe1030
