The purpose of this study is (1) to develop supplementary English-speaking materials for the students of SMKN 1 Tanjungsari grade X based on the 2013 Curriculum, (2) to describe the effectiveness of the supplementary English-speaking material for the students of SMKN Tanjungsari grade X in developing their speaking skill. The research belongs to Educational research and Development (R&D) using a simplified six steps of Borg and Gall’s model (1983). The six steps are as follows. (1) Research and information collecting were conducted by performing document analysis, class observation, interview, product testing, as well as experts’ judgement, (2) planning and drafting were conducted following Nation and Macallister (2010), (3) Draft revision by expert, (4) Field testing was conducted in Nautica class A of the X grade of SMKN 1 Tanjungsari, (5) Revision, and (6) Final product. The finding shows that (1) supplementary materials which were developed in this research fulfill the criteria of R&D model. It is necessary to provide speaking materials which were needed for the students of SMKN 1 Tanjungsari who faced the problem in speaking skill. The product of the research also fulfills the teacher’ needs as the materials which are not covered in the recently used textbook can be found in this supplementary material but the focus is in speaking. (2) The effectiveness of the supplementary speaking materials shows it is helpful towards the students in developing their speaking skill which is very needed in working world. The supplementary of speaking materials provides additional learning resources for students as well as the teacher to teach.

The purpose of this research was to develope and validate the suplementary speaking material in digital media for accounting students of SMK Negeri 1 Lubuklinggau. This research used Research and Development Method by applying Borg and Gall Model. There were ten steps, they are (1) research and information collecting (2) planning (3) developing preliminary form of product (4) preliminary field testing (5) main product revision (6) field testing (7) operational product revision (8) operational field testing (9) final product (10) dissemination and implementation.. The subjects were the Accounting students of eleventh grade in academic year 2020/2021. While, for step 6, 8 and 10 were applied by using Google Classroom application in English group of XI Accounting Program. The data showed that there were some problem faced by the students aespecially in finding a speaking book which concerning to accounting program. The teacher also need a book that can help English speaking skill not only for general English. After following the ten steps in R&D method, started from analyzing, evaluating, revising and trying out, it was concluded that the suplementary speaking material in digital media for accounting students can help them in learning English based on their need. The objectives of this study are to (1) describe the designing of speaking materials for hospitality students in Trans Ocean Floating Hotel Program based on Competency-Based Language Teaching. (2) Reveal the efficacy of the speaking teaching materials in improving students communication skills. This research belongs to Educational Research and Development (R&D) using a simplified six steps of Borg and Gall’s model (1983). The six steps are as follows. (1) Research and information collecting was conducted by performing document analysis, class observation, interview, product testing, as well as experts’ judgments, (2) Planning and drafting, (3) Draft revision by experts, (4) Field testing which was conducted in basic class of the Trans Ocean Floating Hotel Program, (5) Revision, and (6) Final product. The technique of collecting data used in this research consists of (1) document analysis, (2) classroom observation and (3) interview. It was made for obtaining the data for the target situation analysis and appropriateness of the design speaking materials for hospitality students. The findings show that (1) learning materials that were designed in this research fulfilled the criteria of the R&D model, which is based on the students’ need lack and want. The purpose of the learning is preparing the students in their future job field as hotel staff and need to learn more about speaking because speaking skill is more useful for working as hotel staff. (2) The efficacy of the speaking materials is that it serves the explicit instruction and encourage the students in doing activities, especially speaking, besides, there are various activities in the textbook. This textbook is designed based on the Trans Ocean Floating Hotel student’s need, lack, and want. Furthermore, the speaking materials as the product of this study provide additional learning resources for students.

The use of technology in learning has grown rapidly. One of them is learning English using Computer Assisted Language Learning or CALL. CALL is a computer-aided learning media used in the field of education which easy to access, spread and stored. Afterwards, this study tried to determine the influence of CALL media with lecture method and discussion to improve the cadets’ English speaking ability. This study used quantitative approach and descriptive quantitative analysis that revealed the problems occurred during the English learning. Statistical analysis is used by reviewing the learning process which were involving 50 cadets in both class A and B. The findings showed a significant difference of the use of CALL media in lecture method and discussion on English speaking skill.

ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to determine what causes students 'anxiety about students' English speaking skills. In this study, researchers used qualitative research. For collecting and retrieving research data the researcher using questionnaire, interviews and observations. Researchers involve teachers and students. The researchers take samples in class VII. A where the researcher only took 10 students to be sampled. In this research the researchers conduct classroom observations and provide questionnaire in which students must answer from the 25 questions. The researcher also interviewed one of the English teachers who taught in the class. Here, the researchers used FLCAS to recap the results of the student's questionnaire. In the FLACS questionnaire, the researcher has found the similarities from what the teacher had said in the interview. The students were always anxious in the situations such as; when their names were called by the teacher, when they could not understand what the teacher has said, when they were asked to talk English in the classroom, when they think they will be the laugh stock of their friends as they speak in English. From the FLCAS questionnaire have also supported the findings from the observation. From the questionnaire, some of the students’ respond toward the items showed that they would be the most anxious when they were asked to perform speaking task. This research aims to use shadow puppet media, which will be used to improve speaking skills in narrative text learning material. The subjects of this study were at MAK Zidny Ilma Warzuqny Fahma students. The sample in this study were students of tenth grade at MAK Ziwfa. This quantitative study focused on student's achievement in the use of shadow puppet media to increase the student's speaking skills in narrative text. The finding of this study shows that shadow puppet media significantly gives effects on student's learning. The conclusion is based on the significance value calculation of the T count > T table, so H0 is rejected; therefore, Ha is accepted. It means that there was a significant difference between student learning outcomes taught by using a shadow puppet media through English speaking skill.

The purpose of this research was to develop e-learning media for ESP learning of English for Nursing Students. The development of English for specific needs has rapidly increased as the demand for tailor-made language learning raised. Following the current trend of industrial revolution 4.0, the need of ESP e-learning media is critically necessary. The study used Research & Development (R&D) model. There are some stages in R&D model namely (1) Research and Information Collecting, (2) Planning, (3) Developing Preliminary Form of Product, (4) Preliminary Field Testing, (5) Main Product Revision, (6) Main Field Testing, (7) Operational Product Revision, (8) Operational Field Testing, (9) Final Product Revision and (10) Dissemination and Implementation. However, due to the limitation of the study, only five stages were conducted. The results indicated that the product of e-learning media for ESP learning of English for Nursing students was ready to use

This article tries to describe about the developing Islamic content textbook for speaking English. The method used in this article are developmental research and design instructional model for the design. The article is not to generate a theory or verify one. It attempts to develop English learning material for speaking skill using textbook containing Islamic contents at first semester of tenth grade senior high school. Some steps passed in developing the English vocabulary material; need analysis, design, development, expert validation, try out, revision, and final product. It could be as a proof that this material could be applied to the tenth grade students. And the result shows that Islamic content textbook for English speaking material could be applied to the tenth grade students in Madrasah Aliyah Salafiyah Kajen, Pati Central Java Indonesia.

Project Based- Learning (PBL) is one of teaching technique where the students work in group project and it is required students for designing, planning, and carrying out an extended project that produces a publicly- exhibited output such as a product, publication, or presentation. This research used Classrom Action Research as the research method. The sample of this research were  30 students of the tenth grade, Tehnik Instalasi Tenaga Listrik of SMK PGRI 3 CIMAHI. The students assessed by using speaking rubric by Brown 2004. The data were calculated by using SPSS. As the result, the technique can improve the students speaking skill. It is concluded based  on data analyzed. In the first cycle, the students categorized as the poor and low English speaking while the second and the third cycle, the students showed a significant achievement and categorized in good average. This technique can be the affective technique that can be used by the teachers who want to improve students’ speaking skill. Keywords:  Speaking, Students’ Difficulties, PBL

The research aimed at improving students’ speaking skill using picture-cued technique. Classroom action research with 3 cycles was employed.  The research subject consisted of 20 students of tenth grade. The technique of data collection consisted of observation, test and interview. The finding signified that the students’ speaking skill is improved. In cycle I, only 70% of students passed the passing grade. In cycle 2, 90% passed the grade and in cycle 3, 100% passed the grade. The significant of this research did not only explore about picture-cued technique but also identified students’ response of the application of picture-cued technique in English speaking learning. The result of the research showed students’ positive responses to the use of the technique. This further means that the implementation of picture-cued is successful in enhancing students’ speaking skill.

This research aims to describe: (1) students' English speaking skill in English immersion school; (2) students’ strengths and weaknesses in speaking skill in English immersion school; (3) factors affecting students' speaking skill in English immersion school. The research was designed as a case study, conducted at a school applying English immersion in Bondowoso, East Java, Indonesia in Academic Year 2017-2018. The research used purposive sampling. Data were collecated by interview, questionnairre, observation, and document analysis. The informants were grade 2 students, English teachers, and the school founder. The analysis found that: (1) on the scale of 1-5 (1=very bad, 2=bad, 3=fair, 4=good, 5=very good), students’ English speaking skills were at levels of very good (2.22%), good (6.67%), fair (37.78%), bad (44.44%), and very bad (8.89%); (2) students’ strengths in English speaking skills were related to vocabulary with average score of 2.7, and the weaknesses dealt with fluency with average score of 2.25; (3) factors that were assumed to affect students’ English speaking skills were environment, local accent, vocabulary mastery, English use, preference, and habits. It is recommended that all parties involved in the English immersion program evaluate the running of the program and the content of the program to provide learning outputs through English immersion. Commitment to using English should be strengthened, especially in English Week program. Improvement on English teachers’ is needed by involving them in trainings. Finally, similar research at non-English immersion school is necessary to ensure the comparative results gained from both types of school.
