The study developed a scale for measuring assessment literacy of university teachers and determined the validity and reliability of the scale. This is with a view of improving university teachers’ assessment literacy. The study adopted the survey design. The population comprised all lecturers working in universities within Osun State. The sample consisted of 549 university teachers that were not in training position (lecturer II and above) from different disciplines selected using convenient sampling technique in all the eight accredited universities within Osun state. The study made use of three instruments namely; University Teachers Assessment Literacy Scale (UTALS), Teacher Self-Efficacy Scale (TSES) and Teacher Burnout Scale (TBS). The results showed that the 60- item UTALS was reduced to 43 items after the psychometric procedure of item retention and deletion were applied. Scree plot and eigen value methods showed that the final UTALS construct validity had seven factors of university teachers’ assessment literacy that accounted for 86.46% of the total scale variance and it significantly converge and diverge with the Teacher Efficacy Scale (r = 0.75) and Teacher Burnout Scale (0.52) respectively. The internal consistency reliability of the scale was 0.96 (Guttman), 0.90 (Cronbach), and 0.96 (Spearman). The study concluded that the university teacher’s assessment literacy scale developed in this study had adequate psychometric characteristics and is suitable for measuring assessment literacy of university teachers in Osun State. It was therefore recommended that the University Teacher’s Assessment Literacy Scale be adopted by institutions of higher learning for the assessment of new and old academic staff members’ assessment competency in order to help in the improvement of assessment standard of the institutions

University teaching is universally known for its stressful nature. The university teachers are exposed to various stressors at work as a result of which their working performance is affected. The current study has conceptually reviewed the different factors of Job Stress among university teachers in Pakistan by using non-systematic narrative review technique. Following review of existing literature, the findings of current study revealed nine potential factors as determinants of Job Stress among university teachers in Pakistan. These factors were related to both intra and extra organizational environments of universities in Pakistan. This study concludes that university teaching is a stressful profession in Pakistan. The problem of Job Stress should be managed both at individual and institutional levels. Individually the academic staff members should get awareness about causes and consequences of Job Stress. At institutional level the management of universities should provide Stress free conducive environment, so that university teachers could be saved from the devastating effects of Job Stress.

This study applied the established factors from the existing literatures on information security awareness to investigate information security awareness among non-academic staff in the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. The objectives of this study are; to identify the factors that influence information security awareness and to determine the level of information security awareness among non-academic staff. This study employed a survey design. Stratified random sampling technique was utilized to select the respondents for the study. The study participants consist of non-academic staff in the University of Ibadan. A field survey of 300 respondents was carried out using questionnaire as the main instrument. Descriptive statistics was used for data analysis. Findings of this study revealed that information security awareness is significantly influenced by policy of information security, education of information security, knowledge of technology, and non-academic staff’s behavior. Furthermore, findings show that the level of information security awareness among non-academic staff in the University of Ibadan was high. Finally, findings were discussed and recommendations for the future research were also addressed.

This research study was conducted to explore the job satisfaction of university teachers. The study might contribute from theoretical, management and academic perspectives. It was correlational research. The study was delimited to the University of Education Lahore. The population of the study was teachers working at the University of Education Lahore. The Census sampling technique was applied to select the desired sample. The job satisfaction survey developed by Spector was used with prior permission. The validity and reliability of the instrument were insured through pilot testing. The data were collected with prior permission from the concerned authority. Descriptive and inferential statistics were applied to the data. Teachers reported themselves to be satisfied with their jobs. They were found satisfied on the subscales Supervision, coworkers, nature of work, promotion, communication, fringe benefits, pay, contingent rewards, operating procedure, respectively. No significant difference was observed in job satisfaction on the basis of designation, age, qualification, marital status and gender.

The study examined the perception of agricultural students towards computer based testing (CBT) in Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Nigeria. Multistage sampling technique was used to select 108 agricultural students of 200level across all the departments in the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences. However, the respondents have different perception toward CBT as mode of assessment newly introduced by the University management. There is significant relationship between some of the selected personal characteristics the respondents (such as department {(x2=68.481); age (x2=64.389); mode of admission (x2=166.056) and basis for supporting CBT examination (x2=33.333)} and their perception of CBT mode of examination. The study therefore recommends that CBT mode of examination should be encouraged and this innovation should cut across all other level apart from 100 level students. The academic staff members of different department and faculties should encourage the spread of the innovation across the University at large and the university management and department involved in the CBT examination should come together and provide solution to some of the associated constraints with CBT examination in LAUTECH as this would encourage its full adoption and its usage in the various departments and the entire University at large. <p class="apa">The study examined ‘Students’ Involvement in Social Networking and attitudes towards its Integration into Teaching. The study was carried out in the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. The population of the study consisted of 17,618 undergraduate students enrolled into full time degree programmes in the University of Uyo for 2014/2015 academic session. The design of the study was survey design with ex-post facto approach. Random sampling technique was used to select 1730 students from the 12 faculties in the University. The instrument used for the study was ‘Students’ Social Networking and Attitude Questionnaire which was validated by an expert in curriculum studies and an expert in measurement and evaluation in the University of Uyo. Cronbach’s Alpha Statistical method was used to determine the reliability coefficient of .70 for the instrument. Two research questions and two null hypotheses tested at .05 level of significance guided the study. Mean and Standard Deviation were used to answer research questions; Independent t-test and Analysis of Variance were used to test the hypotheses. The results show that there is significant difference in involvement of university undergraduate students in Social Networking based on course of study, level (year) of study and age. Female undergraduate students’ involvement in social networking is higher than that of their male counterparts; but male undergraduate students showed a higher positive attitude towards integration of social networking into teaching and learning.</p>

This article empirically assesses perception of quality in higher education in Ethiopia.  The data was collected from one higher educational institution where the staffs are graduates of 31 different universities in Ethiopia. The information used in this study was obtained through administration of questionnaires. The main participants are the academic staff of the University. The total number of staff that participated in the research was 365. Purposive sampling technique was employed to select 365 teachers (302 male and 63 female) and seventeen classrooms were observed and twelve group discussions carried out with participants of Ethiopian educational roadmap. Data were analyzed by both descriptive statistics of percentages and inferential statistics of, t-test, correlation and one way ANOVA. Results indicated that teacher’ valued input indicators of quality of education more than process and output indicators. Output indicators received the lowest rating. Teachers’ practice also indicated that they apply process indicators in a reasonable manner. The results of relationship between practices of teaching learning processes revealed that, as teachers’ perception toward quality teaching learning process increases their practice of elements of constructivism also increases.

The study examined ownership, gender and experience as correlates of policy implementation in the management of Universities Libraries in South-South, Nigeria. The correlational survey design was adopted for the study. Three (3)research questions and three (3)hypotheses guided the study. The population of the study was 1,465 which comprised 12university librarians from the 12 State and Federal Universities in South-South, 263 other professional librarians and 1,200 year 3 students who are regular libraryusers in the universities. The sample for the study was 385 respondents which consisted of 12 university librarians from the twelve universities, 263 other professional librarians and 120 years 3 students. The convenience sampling technique was used to select 10 year 3 students each from the 12 universities. Three instruments were used for datathe collection namely:questionnaire,interview, and focus group discussion. The overall internal consistency reliability index of the questionnaire obtained through Cronbach’s alpha estimate was 0.95. The data collected were analyzed using mean and standard deviations for the research questions. The null hypotheses were tested using multiple regressionsand associated t-test. The findings showedthat in the management of university libraries in South-South Nigeria, library policies on main duties and responsibilities, user-oriented library concepts, schedule of duties, were highly implemented. On account of these findings, it was recommended among others that: The National Universities Commission (NUC) should monitor the implementation of the policy statements. This is to ensure that libraries irrespective of ownership, gender and experience of the librarians, are encouraged and supported to implement the policy statements to a very high extent.

Depression is associated with absenteeism and presentism, problems in workplace relationships and loss of productivity and quality. The present work describes the validation of a web-based system for the assessment of depression in the university work context. The basis of the system is the Spanish version of the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI-II). A total of 185 participants completed the BDI-II web-based assessment, including 88 males and 97 females, 70 faculty members and 115 staff members. A high level of internal consistency reliability was confirmed. Based on the results of our web-based BDI-II, no significant differences were found in depression severity between gender, age or workers’ groups. The main depression risk factors reported were: “Changes in sleep”, “Loss of energy”, “Tiredness or fatigue” and “Loss of interest”. However significant differences were found by gender in “Changes in appetite”, “Difficulty of concentration” and “Loss of interest in sex”; males expressed less loss of interest in sex than females with a statistically significant difference. Our results indicate that the data collected is coherent with previous BDI-II studies. We conclude that the web-based system based on the BDI-II is psychometrically robust and can be used to assess depression in the university working community.

AbstractObjective:The aim of this study was to assess the validity and reliability of a self-administered nutrition knowledge (NK) questionnaire for Italian university students.Design:The NK questionnaire included ninety questions on experts’ nutritional recommendations, nutritional content of food, health aspects of food and diets, relationship between diet and diseases, and proper food choices. It was administered to the same population under the same conditions on two different occasions with a time interval of 3 weeks between the two administrations.Setting:The survey was carried out at the University of Parma (Italy) during the 2018–2019 academic year.Participants:Data were collected for 132 bachelor and master degree students attending the University of Parma, either attending or not nutrition classes during their studies (19–30 years, 29·5 % males, 57·6 % with an academic nutrition background).Results:The questionnaire revealed high overall internal consistency reliability (Cronbach’s α > 0·8) and a good temporal stability with high correlation of the total score (r = 0·835, P < 0·001). Moreover, it showed a good ability to discriminate between subjects with potentially different NK.Conclusions:This NK questionnaire proved to be a reliable, valid and easy-to-use tool for assessing the NK of Italian university students, either with or without nutrition background.

Any form of examination malpractice is unacceptable, fraudulent, and signifies an act of academic dishonesty with significant punitive consequences. This paper investigated the reasons why students engage in examination malpractice during examinations at the University for Development Studies (UDS). The study adopted a cross-sectional survey design for this research and targeted undergraduate students of the Tamale Campus of the UDS. Simple random sampling technique was used to select 278 out of a total student population of 6,729 for the study. They responded mainly to questionnaire and a few open ended questions to provide the needed data for analysis. The findings suggest that (i) smuggling of prepared notes on pieces of papers (foreign material) into the examination hall,(ii) writing of examination answers on palms, thighs and other body parts, and (iii) communication by seeking for answers from colleagues are the three topmost forms/methods students engage to cheat during examinations. The desire to obtain good grades just as the more intelligent students pushes some students to cheat during examinations. The introduction of scanners and e-search software, the spacing of sitting arrangements, installation of Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras in large examination halls may help curb cheating.
