The study examined ownership, gender and experience as correlates of policy implementation in the management of Universities Libraries in South-South, Nigeria. The correlational survey design was adopted for the study. Three (3)research questions and three (3)hypotheses guided the study. The population of the study was 1,465 which comprised 12university librarians from the 12 State and Federal Universities in South-South, 263 other professional librarians and 1,200 year 3 students who are regular libraryusers in the universities. The sample for the study was 385 respondents which consisted of 12 university librarians from the twelve universities, 263 other professional librarians and 120 years 3 students. The convenience sampling technique was used to select 10 year 3 students each from the 12 universities. Three instruments were used for datathe collection namely:questionnaire, interview, and focus group discussion. The overall internal consistency reliability index of the questionnaire obtained through Cronbach’s alpha estimate was 0.95. The data collected were analyzed using mean and standard deviations for the research questions. The null hypotheses were tested using multiple regressionsand associated t-test. The findings showedthat in the management of university libraries in South-South Nigeria, library policies on main duties and responsibilities, user-oriented library concepts, schedule of duties, were highly implemented. On account of these findings, it was recommended among others that: The National Universities Commission (NUC) should monitor the implementation of the policy statements. This is to ensure that libraries irrespective of ownership, gender and experience of the librarians, are encouraged and supported to implement the policy statements to a very high extent.

This study examined the management of indigenous toys, modern toys and animation for early childhood education.  Three research questions and three hypotheses guided the study.  The study adopted a description survey design with a population of 655 primary schools that house early childhood centres spread across the 23 Local Government Areas of Rivers State.  A sample size of 164 head teachers in early childhood education centres was drawn using stratified random sampling technique representing 25% of the population.  A self-designed instrument titled Management of Indigenous Toys, Modern Toys and Animation for Early Childhood Education Questionnaire (MITMAFECEQ) was used for data collection.  Face and content validities of the instrument were done by experts in the related areas while reliability coefficient of 0.88 was computed through Cronbach internal consistency reliability technique.  Mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions while z-test was used to test the null hypotheses at 0.05 alpha level of significance. It was found among others that the management of indigenous toys enhances spatial, numeric and logical development and reasoning while management of modern toys increase the development of electronic skills among pupils. It was recommended among others that early childhood education can be achieved through proper use of indigenous toys in order to instil manual calculation ability in children.  The children should be allowed access to modern toys and animation in order to enhance their prowess and dexterity in handling life events and facing future life's challenges in this digital world of 21st century.

The study was carried out in the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. The population of the study consisted of 17,618 undergraduate students enrolled into full time degree programmes in the University of Uyo for 2014/2015 academic session. The design of the study was survey design with ex-post facto approach. Random sampling technique was used to select 1730 students from the 12 faculties in the University. The instrument used for the study was ‘Students’ Social Networking and Attitude Questionnaire which was validated by an expert in curriculum studies and an expert in measurement and evaluation in the University of Uyo. Cronbach’s Alpha Statistical method was used to determine the reliability coefficient of .70 for the instrument. Two research questions and two null hypotheses tested at .05 level of significance guided the study. Mean and Standard Deviation were used to answer research questions; Independent t-test and Analysis of Variance were used to test the hypotheses. The results show that there is significant difference in involvement of university undergraduate students in Social Networking based on course of study, level (year) of study and age. Female undergraduate students’ involvement in social networking is higher than that of their male counterparts; but male undergraduate students showed a higher positive attitude towards integration of social networking into teaching and learning.</p>

The study was carried out to survey NCE students’ perceptions on use of library course as an aid to their use of library resources in Colleges of Education in South-West Nigeria. The descriptive survey design was employed and four research questions guided the study. From a population of 60,481 students, a sample of 1,210 was drawn using the proportionate stratified sampling technique. Meanwhile, out of the 1,210 copies of the questionnaire distributed, 1,097 were fully completed (filled out) as retrieved and analyzed. It represents (90.66%) or approximately (91%) response rate and considered adequate because the standard and acceptable response rate for most studies is 60%. A questionnaire was the instrument used for data collection after validation by experts in the field, and pre-tested through Cronbach Alpha method that yielded 0.743 aggregate values. Complete data subsequently gathered from 1,097 copies of the questionnaire retrieved were analyzed by employing the statistical mean to answer the research questions and criterion mean placed at 2.50. Among the major findings of the study were: Students perceived use of library course as an aid to their use of all library resource categories examined in the study (that is, reference, reserve, circulation and serials resources). The study therefore recommends that students should be given increased opportunity to access “use of library course programme” as a veritable tool of enhancing their capacity for adequate use of reference resources among others in colleges of education in the region to ensure their effective integration into our 21st century society even after college life.

This was based on the four local government areas in the Education zone. A structured questionnaire in a four point Likert type format was used for data collection. The instrument had a reliability coefficient of 0.88, which showed a high internal consistency. Three research questions and one hypothesis guided the study. Mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions while t-test statistic was used to test the lone null hypothesis. Results of the study indicated that students perceived to a high extent; teachers’ interest, attitude towards chemistry and mastery of the subject as necessary characteristics in the teaching of chemistry. The hypothesis tested at 0.05 level of significance was not significant. Based on the results of the study and the educational implications of the results, recommendations were made.

Given that managing schools to attain expected goals is becoming challenging in the present competitive society, it becomes paramount that collaborations, especially with a highly innovative group of people are encouraged. In the light of this, the purpose of this study is to investigate the extent of School-Based Management Committees' (SBMCs) involvement in public secondary school administration in Abuja. A descriptive survey design was used for the study, and 3 research questions were answered in relation to the 3 research objectives of the study. The population of the study was 460 respondents, and a sample size of 250 respondents was drawn through proportionate random and convenience sampling techniques. A structured questionnaire was used for data collection. Arithmetic mean was employed in analyzing the research questions. The result revealed among others, that the school-based management committees play a passive role in planning in public secondary schools in Abuja. It was concluded that for schools to effectively meet the academic need of the Abuja community, their collaborations with the SBMCs have to be very active and productive. To this end, SBMCs need to become more committed to collaborating and helping the schools in terms of planning, staffing and monitoring.
