The study investigates the influence of cooperative financing on the performance and survival of micro scale businesses, in Ogun State, Nigeria. A survey research design was adopted to generate crosssectional data, using a structured questionnaire as the research instrument. From a population of 1,165,848 a sample size of 384 was obtained using the Raosoft sapling size formulae. Regression analysis was used to analyze the data. The findings revealed that cooperatively sourced finance has a positive and significant effect on operational performance of micro scale enterprises but no significant effect on business survival. This implies that survival of micro scale enterprises is beyond financing. The study recommends that cooperative societies, beyond financing should assist members in the area of general management of activities such as records keeping to improve the operational performance as well as the survival rate of businesses in Ogun State, Nigeria.

This study examines the effect of training and career development on banks employees’ performance, using survey research design, through the administration of structured questionnaire on some employees of some selected banks at Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, Nigeria. The findings reveal that, all the variables have positive individual significant effect on employees’ performance. The individual significance career development has the highest effect on Nigerian banks employees’ performance with t-stat = 6.256 *0.000. To further certify this, the multiple linear regression was used to test the combined effect of training and career development on employees’ performance to which only career development has positive and significant effect on employees’ performance (t-stat = 6.359 *0.000), where training has positive but insignificant effect (t-stat = 1.556 * 0.123). The adjusted R2 (0.398) indicated that, 39.8% variation in employees’ performance is accounted for by training and career development. The findings revealed that, an improvement in training and career development tends to enhance banks employees’ performance. It can therefore be concluded that, training and career development are important determinants of banks employees’ performance. Therefore, it is recommended that banks should enhance their training and career development activities towards the enhancement of their employees’ performance.

The study focused on the actors in industrial relations and their contributions towards the growth and dwarfism of Nigeria’s industrial relations system. It identified some problems which have been brought by other actors in industrial relations - the employees. In pursuit of the previously mentioned objectives, a survey research was employed. The population used for the study was 160 staff of Micheal Imoudu Institute for Labour Studies, Ilorin, Nigeria. A sample size of 114 was determined using Taro Yamani’s formula (1964). The study made use of both primary and secondary data and questionnaires were administered to 114 staff but only 99 were collected, analysed and interpreted. The multiple regression analysis was used to test the hypotheses at 0.05 significant level using SPSS v.20. It was found that governments at all levels have significant impacts on the growth and dwarfism of the industrial relations system of Nigeria. The study concluded that actors in industrial relations in Nigeria affect the growths and dwarfisms of Nigeria’s industrial relations system and it is recommended that further research be extended to other industries such as construction, agriculture and telecommunication. The study can also be used as guidelines for human resource aficionados and industrial relations experts.

The study examined the effect of costly–to-imitate capabilities on sustained competitive advantage in manufacturing firms in Nigeria. A sample size of 248 was determined from a population of 700 respondents using Taro Yamene’s sampling technique. Data were collected through structured questionnaire and 248 copies of questionnaire were distributed out of which 232 copies were found useful for data analysis. The data were analyzed using Regression Analysis which was facilitated through Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS Version 23.0). The findings showed a significant effect of costly–to-imitate capabilities on sustained competitive advantage in manufacturing firms in Nigeria. Based on the findings, the study concludes that costly–to-imitate capabilities significantly affect sustained competitive advantage in manufacturing firms in Nigeria. Hence, the study recommended that management should cultivate a distinctive unique organizational culture that other businesses will find it challenging to emulate. They should establish and pursue ambiguous cause that other firms find it hard to embark on and social complexity that focus on the relationship between managers and employees; managers and directors; the firm and the society (supplier, customers, government and union and associations) in order to gain sustained competitive advantage.

The research aimed to examine the influence of social media sites on consumer buying behavior in Shoprite Nigeria Limited. The examined social media sites included Twitter, Facebook, Google+, blogs, and YouTube. The research was a descriptive design. The population was made up of consumers of Shoprite Nigeria Limited in Ibadan and Lagos. The sample size was 384 using Cochran's 1977 sample size formula for the infinite population. However, only 321 respondents filled and returned the questionnaires. A structured questionnaire was designed using a five-point Likert scale of agreement. Then, a hypothesis was tested using multiple regression analysis. The result shows that the null hypothesis is rejected. It implies that social media sites influence consumer buying behavior in Shoprite Nigeria Limited. It concludes that social media sites are important tools that can influence consumer buying behavior. It is recommended that the organization should invest more in social media sites to get in touch with their targeted audience.

Two research questions and two null hypotheses were used for the study. The study adopted a survey research design. The population for the study was 41 business educators from four government owned tertiary institutions in Enugu State. There was no sampling since the population was manageable. The instrument for data collection was a structured questionnaire developed by the researchers and validated by the experts. The reliability of the instrument was determined using Cronbach Alpha, which yielded an overall index 0.72. Mean and standard deviation were used in answering research questions while hypotheses were tested using t-test. It was found that governmental measures items promoted democracy through business education for national security. The study also revealed that lecturers‟ measures also promotes democracy through business education for national security. It was recommended that: government should make adequate budgetary provision for business education. Democrats should be involved in business teacher‟s conferences and seminars.

Abstract The swine industry has been constantly evolving to select animals with improved performance traits and to minimize variation in body weight (BW) in order to meet packer specifications. Therefore, understanding variation presents an opportunity for producers to find strategies that could help reduce, manage, or deal with variation of pigs in a barn. A systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted by collecting data from multiple studies and available data sets in order to develop prediction equations for coefficient of variation (CV) and standard deviation (SD) as a function of BW. Information regarding BW variation from 16 papers was recorded to provide approximately 204 data points. Together, these data included 117,268 individually weighed pigs with a sample size that ranged from 104 to 4,108 pigs. A random-effects model with study used as a random effect was developed. Observations were weighted using sample size as an estimate for precision on the analysis, where larger data sets accounted for increased accuracy in the model. Regression equations were developed using the nlme package of R to determine the relationship between BW and its variation. Polynomial regression analysis was conducted separately for each variation measurement. When CV was reported in the data set, SD was calculated and vice versa. The resulting prediction equations were: CV (%) = 20.04 – 0.135 × (BW) + 0.00043 × (BW)2, R2=0.79; SD = 0.41 + 0.150 × (BW) - 0.00041 × (BW)2, R2 = 0.95. These equations suggest that there is evidence for a decreasing quadratic relationship between mean CV of a population and BW of pigs whereby the rate of decrease is smaller as mean pig BW increases from birth to market. Conversely, the rate of increase of SD of a population of pigs is smaller as mean pig BW increases from birth to market.
