The aim of the study was to know the effect of Curcuma xanthorhiza as herbal feed additive in the rations on dry matter consumption, body weight gain, feed efficiency and feed cost pergain of Simmental cross cattle. The research was conducted at PGS. Joe Cipir Jati Indah Village, Tanjung Bintang District, South Lampung Regency. The experimental used 12 male Simmental Cross Cattle with an average body weight of 166.25 ± 6.27 kg. The study used a quantitative method with a completely randomized design with 3 treatments and 4 replications. They were fed a complete feeding with control rations + 0% temulawak flour (P0), control ration + 1.5% temulawak flour (P1) and control ration + 3% temulawak flour (P2). The control ration is the usual ration given by farmers every day containing 8.35% crude protein and 59.63% TDN. The study was conducted for 5 weeks, 1 week period of adaptation and 4 weeks period of data collection. The results showed that the addition of temulawak flour had a significant effect (P <0.05) on dry matter consumption, body weight gain, feed efficiency and feed cost per gain of Simmental cross cattle. The 1,5% addition level of temulawak flour from dry matter ration showed the best body weight gain, feed efficiency and feed cost per gain.Keywords:, natural feed additive, production efficiency, Simmental cross cattle , temulawak

The effects of raw and autoclaved Shoti (Curcuma zedoaria) meal on the growth and N utilization of growing broilers were determined. Shoti from Bangladesh Agricultural University campus was collected and sorted on the basis of white color of the rhizome. Then they were chopped into pieces, sun dried and pulverized in a flour mill. Aliquot samples were autoclaved at 1200C under 15 lb of pressure per square inch for 30 min. Autoclaved samples were stored in tightly lid contained for future use. 3 One hundred -day-old Cobb 500 broiler chicks were reared on the floor and a total of 24 growing broilers, 4 birds in each group were weighed on d 15 Two broilers were placed in each cage. There were a total of four experimental and two control (positive and negative Non-protein control) diets. Diets were fed ad libitum from day 15 to 33days. Body weight, feed intake, feed refusal and fecal weights were recorded every day. Cumulative feed efficiency per bird was calculated as the ratio of weight gained to feed consumed. Dry matter of excreta was determined from the last 10 d of feeding trial by drying aliquots of every day’s droppings by drying for 6 h at 1050C. On d 19, birds were bled to death. Immediately after slaughter, the carcasses were examined systematically. The chemical composition of Shoti meal showed that it is low in protein, fat and trace minerals and therefore mainly a source of energy. The bulk of the tuber (75 percent) consists of carbohydrates, made up of 10.6% fiber, and 64.9% nitrogen free extracts (NFE). A peculiarity of Curcuma rhizome meal contains high level of ash (9.9%) on DM basis. The results showed that at day 33, the weight of the broiler chicken fed shoti 100g, 200g, 300 g and 200g (autoclaved shoti meal)/ Kg diet was significantly different from the weight of the chicken fed on a maize-soybean diet. The birds given shoti meal consumed less feed than those provided with a maize diet. Feed efficiency or weight gain to feed ration over 19-d period was the poorest when fed 300 g Shoti/ Kg diet. Intake picked up when the shoti meal was incorporated after having been autoclaved and there was slight improvement in body weight gain as compared to that of other Shoti fed group. However, feed efficiency and body weight gain as % of initial weight remained significantly lower than the maize-soybean control. The inclusion of Shoti meal generally had an adverse effect on the apparent dry matter digestibility compared with the control diets. The group fed autoclaved shoti meal had a similar effect and the true N digestibility was the lowest when compared to those of control fed on maize-soybean meal. Thus, physical treatment like using autoclave, caused further reduction of digestibility of its N. Lipid digestibility was reduced by ingestion of shoti meal. Since the diets were isocaloric, after correction for the apparent endogenous lipid losses, which were obtained from the results of non-protein control feeding, the net faecal losses was around 66.2% of the ingested lipid against control diet fed birds. This study aims to determine the effect of fermented sago pulp in rations on performance (weight gain, feed consumption, feed conversion) and local sheep's income over feed cost (IOFC). This research was carried out in the community farms of Karang Rejo Village, Stabat District, Langkat Regency. This research started from March to June 2017. The design used was complete randomized design (RAL), with 4 treatment of 5 replications. Each replication consisted of 1 local sheep with an initial weight of 11.05 ± 0.56 kg. The treatment consisted of P1 (50% sago pulp without fermentation + forage), P2 (60% of sago pitch without fermentation + forage), P3 (50% fermented sago pulp + forage), and P4 (60% fermented sago pulp +). The observed variables were performance (body weight gain, feed consumption, feed conversion) and income over feed cost (IOFC). The results showed that the treatment of fermented sago pulp gave a very real effect (P <0.01) on daily weight gain. The mean of P1 = 33,05 g, P2 = 39,95 g, P3 = 46,57 g, P4 = 54,38g. The consumption of fermented sago pulp treatment has a real effect (P <0,01). With average P1 = 486,38 g, P2 = 548,68 g, P3 = 604,69 g, P4 = 671,11 gr. Against the conversion of fermented sago pulp fermentation treatment gave a real effect (P <0.05). With average P1 = 14.78, P2 = 13.90, P3 = 12.99, P4 = 12,49. IOFC the highest local sheep is Rp. 121.568 on treatment of P4 and IOFC lowest at treatment P1 equal to Rp.73.315. The conclusion of the research shows that the utilization of fermented sago pulp can increase body weight gain, feed consumption, local sheep feed conversion. P4 treatment economically has a better economic level than P1,P2 and P3.

The purpose of this experiment was to know the effect of dl-methionine supplementation in feed on the body weight gain, feed consumption, and feed efficiency of broilers. The experiment was conducted at the Laboratory of Animal Husbandry Study Program, Agricultural Faculty, University of Timor, Kefamenanu from December 2019 to January 2020. The experiment used 80 fourteen-day broilers. The method used in this research was an experimental method with a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments given were: T0 (control feed), T1 (T0 + 0.30% dl-methionine), T2 (T0 + 0.50% dl-methionine), and T3 (T0 + 0.70% dl-methionine). The variables observed were body weight gain, feed consumption, and feed efficiency. The results of the experiment showed that the treatment significantly affected the body weight gain, feed consumption, and feed efficiency of broilers (P<0.05). It was concluded that commercial feed supplemented with dl-methionine by 0.70% increased the growth performance of broilers.

This study aimed to determine the effect of the percentage of ration during the day and night on the performance of medium type roosters in postal cages. This research was conducted in August- October 2018 in a postal cage, Integrated Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung. The experiment was designed in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 3 treatments, namely giving ration 30% at day and 70% at night ration (R1), 50% at day and 50% at night (R2), and 70% at day and 30% at night (R3). All treatments were repeated six times with each replication consisting of 8 chickens, so that the total experimental chickens were 144 chickens.  The material used in this study was 2 weeks old of Lohman strain chicken. The results showed a significant effect (P<0.05) between the percentage of giving ration at day and night on ration consumption, but no significant effect (P>0.05) on body weight gain, feed conversion, and income over feed cost ( IOFC). The result also showed that giving ration 30% during the day and 70% at night was  the best proportion for feed consumption.   Keywords: Medium type rooster, Postal cage, Night, Ration, Day

<p>The objective of this study was to investigate the performances of rabbit using several levels of Kebar grass in concentrate, i.e. 0, 5, 10 and 15%, according to protein requirement 19%. Research designed by using Randomized Design Group and each treatment was replicated two times. Data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance and Continued with LSD test. The addition of kebar grass concentrates had no effect in ration and feed efficiency, but significantly affect body weight gain in treatment of 10% and 15% compared to without addition (0%) of kebar grass and 5%. The addition of kebar grass did not affect palatability.</p><p>Key words : kebar grass, rabbit, concentrate, formulations</p>

Plants herbs widely used as a supplement in fodder to improve endurance and its productivity, including garlic and caraway. This study attempts to test the influence of the combination level of flour garlic and caraway performance against quail period of a starter up to the period grower. Study was conducted on  11 February  – 16 March 2017 in Assalam Slamet Quail Farm, Sukabumi.  This research was used 180  DOQ’s layer. Feed used were:  commercial feed BR-1 for stater and SP-2 for grower – layer, garlic flour and caraway flour. A complete randomized  design with four  treatments and three  replicates was used. Treatments consisted of  P0 = feed commercial (FC), P1 = PK + 2 % garlic flour (GF), P2 = PK + 2 % caraway flour (CF), P3 = PK + 1 % GF + 1 % CF. Research conducted in quail from 2 – 35 day. The variables were consumption, body weight gain, feed convertion ratio and mortality. Data were analyzed by a Duncan test. The results showed that  non-significant differences  on average body weight gain of stater  in the first week. The grower period showed that that non-significant differences on consumption and significant differences increased on average body weight gain in P2 treatment and decreased on feed convertion ratio in P1, P2 and P3. The conclusion showed the best research on supplement 2 % caraway flour to  grower quails. This conclusion was recommended to add 2 % caraway flour in quails feed.Keywords: performance of quails, feed additive, garlic, cumin.

The aim of this study was to determine the response of adding ginseng leaf supplements (Talinum Paniculatum Gaertn) to the diet on the introduction of meat products, including dietary intake, body weight gain and dietary transformation in broilers. The subjects of the study were 100 broilers with five treatments and four replicates grown from DOC for 33 days. A control treatment was a 100% mixed diet (A), and B was a mixed died with 0.5% ginseng leaf mixture supplement. Treatment C was a mixed died with 1% ginseng leaf mixture supplement, with 1.5% ginseng leaf mixture supplement (D treatment), and with 2% additive to the ginseng leaf mixture (E treatment). The blended diet consisted of corn, palm meal, soybean meal, fishmeal, oil, and top mix. The variables measured were diet intake, weight gain, and diet conversion. The research method used an experiment with a completely randomized design. The results showed that the addition of the ginseng leaf meal feed additive to the diet had no significant effect (P> 0.05) on dietary intake, body weight gain, and diet conversion. The conclusion of this study is that the addition of up to 2% of the ginseng leaf meal feed additive to the diet did not negatively affect the appearance of the product and broilers.
