Research over the years has shown that in order for any business to survive, the correct product mix must be offered to the market. If the product does not satisfy the needs of the market, its reason for existence can be questioned. This principle applies to all businesses – big or small. The question arises if SMEs adhere to this fact and, if so, how they go about doing this. SMEs over the world make huge contributions to economic growth and job creation and are seen to be a driving force for economic growth and development in any economy. In the highly competitive environment that SMEs operate in, selecting the right merchandise for the right customer is important and, in most instances, its ability to survive or perish. This study aimed to determine if SMEs in South Africa make decisions regarding the product mix and, if so, if they conform to different profiles regarding the decisions that they make. A questionnaire was used to collect the data and was sent to SMEs around South Africa operating in different industries. The results indicated that SMEs in South Africa consider product characteristics, consumer behavior and strategic aspects when making product mix decisions. Improving the world's aggregate energy efficiency is consequential for global sustainable development. This paper evaluated the world's aggregate energy intensity reduction along with economic growth and industrial transformationusing the panel data of all countries around the world from 1971 to 2016. The overall energy intensity of the world was decomposed into activity mix and national intensity based on LMDI approach, and we found that the latter was the main driving force for the reduction of the world's overall energy intensity. We further analyzed the relationship between energy prices, technological progress, and national intensity. The results showed that technological progress and energy prices significantly decreased national intensity, with significant regional differences, however, no significant impact appeared in a price-declining period. To reduce energy intensity, localized measures in different supra-national regions are needed.

March 2020 will be remembered as one of the most unusual months in living memory. When COVID-19 spread across the country, its reach and impact affected every region and every person in some way. The "new normal" forced much of the world to face a new reality of stay-at-home orders, food shortages, and rising death rates. Initially, the pandemic hit congested urban centers hardest, but the effects of the coronavirus were also felt among the rural Amish communities of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. This study offers a preliminary look at how the pandemic affected these communities, focusing on the following themes: sources of news and information; effects of government mandates; and impact of the virus on the day-to-day lives of the Amish during the first four months of the pandemic, from late March 2020 through late July 2020. Findings suggest that the Amish experienced a mix of fear and hope, skepticism and optimism, but also a resolve in their faith, which they felt assured would carry them through the uncertainties of the coming months.

For an emerging economy like India, fast economic development is possible essentially by embracing ICT in a big way, as ICT alone can provide the requisite competitive edge that is essential for fast and sustained economic growth in a globalized environment. In its endeavor to become the ‘global services hub’, what India needs to attain is nothing but unmatched performance in respect of ICT, BPO and allied sectors. While, it appears that the policy initiatives so far have been in the right direction and so is the performance of this industry over the years, there is no scope for complacency as is evident from ever growing competition from other nations, especially the developing world. In this context, it is relevant to make an analysis of the trend in respect of the performance of Indian ICT industry over the last few years vis-à-vis the rest of the world, the latest developments and trends in the field. Such an analysis would reveal, inter alia, the problems and weaknesses of the industry, as well as its opportunities and threats.  Accordingly, it helps us to formulate meaningful strategies that are helpful for  making the industry abreast of the changes. This paper is an effort in this direction.

This study examines the relationship between tourism and the creative economy. An increasing number of countries, regions and cities are developing policies to link tourism and creativity to economic growth and support cultural and creative activities. As a result, different models of “creative tourism” have emerged. Case studies of creative tourism development are described from different parts of the world, and their effects are examined. Particular attention is paid to the role of knowledge, which the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) sees as central to the development of creative tourism. Because tourism can be a tool for the circulation of knowledge and creation of links between creative individuals, it can arguably support the development of the creative economy.
