There are many types of coasts classifications that indicate main coastal features. As a rule, the "static" state of the coasts is considered regardless of their evolutionary features and ways to further transformation. Since the most part of the coastal zone studies aimed at ensuring of economic activity, it is clear that the classification of coast types should indicate total information required by the users. Accordingly, the coast classification should include the criterion, characterizing as dynamic features of the coast and the conditions and opportunities of economic activity. The coast classification, of course, should be based on geomorphological coast typification. Similar typification has been developed by leading scientists from Russia and can be used with minimal modifications. The authors propose to add to basic information (geomorphological type of coast) the evaluative part for each coast sector. It will include the estimation of the coast changes probability and the complexity of the coast stabilization for economic activity. This method will allow to assess the dynamics of specific coastal sections and the processes intensity and, as a result – the stability of the coastal area.

Abstract The purpose of the work was to identify the occurrence of butterflies depending on landform uses and human influence on the population domination structure. The research was conducted in the ‘Krzywda’ field-and-forest Site occupying 172 ha. The area consists of the land leaving in fallow, meadows and wasteland including about 68 ha of swamps that are strongly eutrophic due to human economic activity. The area is subjected to artificial succession inhibition processes in the form of mowing and cutting of trees and shrubs. 32 species of butterflies were recorded during the research, that is, 20% of all species within this group occurring in Poland. The research has approved the great spatial and quantitative diversification of the occurring area of butterflies depending on the form of the land uses. The greatest number of species and their greatest populations were found in the land laying in fallow without the removal of the biomass. The least number of species and their specimens were collected in the unmown laying fallow land. Lycaena virgaureae was the most numerous species collected. The correct domination structure characterized by a small number of numerous species and a large number of species consisting of a low number of specimens. Processes observed in the studied Site subjected to various types of land use influence the occurrence diversity of this group of insects.

The article proposes a method for selecting parameters based on correlation and regression analysis in order to further include significant variables in the equation of stability of an enterprise of an organizational network. The sample consists of ten businesses and ten hypothetical control points. Three subsystems are accepted for consideration: technical and economic (nine indicators), organizational and legal (seven indicators) and human resources (seven indicators of economic activity of a legal entity). The proposed methodology allows us to justify significant indicators for each of the three subsystems for determining the stability of network elements (enterprises), depending on the overall trend of production capacity: a successfully developing enterprise; a high-performing enterprise; a low-performing one. This method allows us to predict the possible volume of deliveries from enterprises - elements of the network. To achieve this goal, it is proposed to use the apparatus of multivariate analysis, in particular, correlation and regression analysis, which allows us to determine the presence of links and their closeness between factors, as well as the degree of influence on the studied value. The calculations were performed using the “Correlation” and “Regression” tools included in the “Data Analysis” package of the Microsoft Excel program.

Although human beings are part of nature, they are seriously damaging the ecosystem, our support system. Modern technological manufacturing regularly produces harmful side effects, either toxic substances or unexpected threats to the entire ecosystem such as ozone layer destruction or global warming. Human economic activity is leading to the mass extinction of other species. Humanity is threatening the entire ecosystem. This means that the view that humans are superior to nature is actually incorrect.

Every year, the human impact on the world’s water sources becomes more pronounced. One of the triggers to this increase is the use of ineffective wastewater and sludge treatment systems. Recently, the number of studies of microwave processing in handling liquid municipal and industrial waste has increased. This paper discusses heat treatment, change in properties, decomposition of substances, removal of metals, demulsification, pyrolysis, biogas processing, disinfection, and other topics. The findings of European, Chinese, Russian, and other authors are summarised and presented in this review. In addition, the most notable Russian patents for microwave installations/devices and reactors suitable for a wide variety of applications are discussed. In this article, the authors look at microwave wastewater and sludge treatment from the perspective of practical application in various fields of human economic activity.

The majority of studies of rail vehicle lateral dynamic response have utilized models wherein it is assumed that the loading and geometry of the vehicles are symmetrical left and right and fore and aft. It has been observed that with use North American rail freight vehicles develop transverse wheel profiles that may be different for wheels on a given axle and that may also differ from axle to axle on a given vehicle. As the transverse wheel profiles exert a strong influence on lateral dynamic response by affecting the effective conicity and gravitational stiffness of the wheelset, models capable of having different wheel profiles on the same axle as well as on different axles were developed to investigate the stability behavior. Additionally, these models were formulated so that the effects on stability of asymmetric fore and aft loading conditions, as manifested through gravitational stiffness effects and creep coefficients, could be examined. Results of studies using these models are presented that display characteristics markedly different from those of completely symmetric models. A particularly interesting result is that, in most cases, the lateral stability of vehicles with different wheel profiles on the various axles is strongly sensitive to the direction of motion with results for each direction of motion which may differ radically from symmetric cases.

The impact of human economic activity on the environment and its irreversible changes. An interdisciplinary approach to the development of the economic system has been used in this paper due to the fact that the subject of the study goes beyond the functional economic sciences, and economics in general. The study is aimed at investigating the interaction of man, as an economic agent, and the environment. It has led to the study of research papers devoted to natural science, in particular, to changes in geological epochs, sustainable development and economic processes from the position of their influence on the environment. This allowed us to synthesize new economic knowledge about the importance of economic activity in the formation of the new geological epoch, “Anthropocene”. Based on the results of the study, the influence of human economic activity on the environment in the light of the geological, technocratic and economic development of society has been proved. The scientific results which were obtained can be used in reforming national economic systems by adapting them to leading world concepts on sustainable development.

Abstract Subject and purpose of work: The Gorce National Park (GNP) represents the object of the study. The purpose of the article is to present the GNP in the category of an area and in the category of an active managing unit. Materials and methods: Empirical research was conducted (2008-2014) based on the data collected from the GNP financial and accounting records and the Central Statistical Office. The degree of tourism function, carried out by the territorial municipalities connected with the GNP, was studied (Baretje and Defert index and Charvat index were calculated) and also the analysis of the GNP activities was conducted. Both the relevant literature query and the analysis of development strategies prepared by the territorial municipalities connected with the GNP were conducted. Results: It was found that the tourist function constitutes an important, however, not the primary function for the analysed municipalities, whereas the initiated activities (both on the part of municipalities and the GNP) indicate the desire for its intensification. The GNP has assets exceeding the value of PLN 17 million, offers jobs for the team whose total annual remuneration is almost PLN 2,5 million and the total annual costs for the last audited year amount to PLN 7,5 million. Conclusions: The described protected area constitutes the example of proper coexistence of human economic activity and nature. The GNP remains a significant entity of the local economic life scene which increases tourist attractiveness of the Gorce Mountains.

Environmental compensation is a form of payment for pollution of nature and the environment and the destruction of land, plants or animals. One of the challenges in ensuring waste management in Kenya is how to measure the negative effect of industrial activities and waste on the environment, economy, and human health. Although the amount of compensation should be established on the basis of the environmental-economic assessment of the appropriate environment, it should also be sufficient to implement measures aimed at restoring, reproducing and improving this environment. Kenya has not yet developed a clear legal framework for compensation for environmental damage even through it has a clear and elaborate Environmental Management and Coordination Act for the protection of the environment. Previous studies on the cost of environmental damage in Kenya have successfully used two methodologies: emergency costs and soil, air, and water pollution. This works examines the essence of these methods, as well as the possibility of their application in assessing the cost of damage to the environment as a result of human economic activity.

This chapter will present the argument that the tools of ontology offer a means for teaching the philosophical foundations of economic value and for engaging interdisciplinarily the examinations of economics. Ontology is the branch of philosophy that is concerned with the description of existing domains in the world, the objects in such domains, and their relations. It does not attempt to explain or interpret, only to describe, and it is in this sense that ontology is reconcilable with the scientific methods of economics. Additionally, it is capable of describing the complex structures, relations, and emergence of economic objects in human economic activity. This chapter will address three insights from ontology that shed light on the implications of the notion of subjectivity in the theory of subjective economic value, the differences between economic value and other kinds of value, and the role that subjectivity and economic value have in the emergence of the social object we know as money.
