Data on the collection of rare plant species of natural flora of Ukraine of the O. V. Fomin Botanical Gar- den of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv are presented. The history of its origin and development and the problematic issues of its further existence are characterized. Data on the inventory of the part of the collection related to perennials, as well as the introduction of new species from the Northern Prychornomor’ya, Pryazov’ya, Middle-Russian Upland are given. 89 species have been marked within the area of rare perennial herbaceous plants. During the last 3 years the collection was enriched with 17 new species, included in the Red Data Book of Ukraine, populations of 13 rare taxa were restored and increased in size.

The strategy and key principles of setting up natural flora exhibits were conceptualized by the founder and first manager of the Flora Department, Prof. M. Kultiasov based on the ecological and historical method of plant introduction. The Siberian flora exhibit was among the first created by the Laboratory. Nowadays it comprises 111 species (131 specimens) belonging to 68 genera of 39 families of plants. This collection includes 5 species of plants listed in the Red Data Book of Russia, namely Anemonastrum baicalense (Turcz.) Mosyakin, Cotoneaster acutifolius Turcz., Erythronium sibiricum (Fisch. & C.A. Mey.) Krylov, Paeonia tenuifolia L., Leuzea carthamoides (Willd.) DC. By category of rareness, out of five these species, one (Paeonia tenuifolia) belongs to Category Two (threatened) and four species (Anemonastrum baicalense, Cotoneaster acutifolius, Erythronium sibiricum, Leuzea carthamoides) belong to Category Three (rare). By category of integrated introductory resistance, all the species introduced may be categorized as ‘resistant in a controlled environment’. We present the distribution of 10 threatened or rare plant species in Serbia based on field research and herbarium and literature data. These taxa are mapped on 10 x 10 km2 UTM grids. The following taxa are analyzed: Crepis nicaeensis Balbis, Lamium hybridum Vill., Lathyrus inconspicuus L., Kitaibela vitifolia Willd., Lindernia palustris Hartm., Veronica dillenii Crantz, Cyperus pannonicus Jacq., Milium vernale Bieb., Epipactis microphylla (Ehrh.) Swartz, and Epipogium aphyllum Swartz. For each species, the IUCN threatened status in Serbia is given; on the basis of these estimates it is proposed that eight plants be included in the next edition of the Red Data Book of the Flora of Serbia.

We report 13 species of treefrogs belonging to six genera of the family Rhacophoridae from Lai Chau Province on the basis of new amphibian collection from Sin Ho District. Four of them, Kurixalus bisacculus, Polypedates mutus, Rhacophorus kio, and Theloderma bicolor are recorded for the first time from this province. We also provide additional data of morphological characters and  natural history of the afore mentioned species. Among 13 recorded species of rhacophorids from Lai Chau Province, two species is listed in the IUCN Red List (2018) and two are listed in the Red Data Book of Vietnam (2007).

The main task of the expeditions was the search for the following species of natural Siberian flora and theintroduction of live plants and seeds to the Botanical Garden named after acad. A. V. Fomin: Cotoneaster mongolicus.C. neo-popvii, C. tjulinae, which are currently presented in our collection. In addition, long-term phenological observations in the conditions of the north-west of Ukraine allowed to isolate new species from the imported material: C. kyachticus.C. logginovii. They are described in the materials of the XIV and XVII conferences “Problems of botany of Southern Siberiaand Mongolia”. A trip to the lake Zun-Torei was dedicated to the search for C. mongolicus. As it turned out later, under theC. mongolicus mother’s plant, we dug up a plant different from the mother’s plant, to which we gave the name C. logginovii.This article provides materials to identify the parents pair in the formation of this hybrid pitchfork. For this purpose,materials of herbarium collections from the vicinity of the lake were used Zun-Torei experienced local botanists, as wellas personal fees. Comparison of the samples allowed to establish their identity with C. mongolicus, as well as to certify it asone of the parents of C. logginovii. Morphological descriptions of annual shoots leaves, flowers, fruits, seeds of three typesof Cotoneasters: C. megalocarpus, C. mongolicus, C. yakuticus; micrographs of endocarp of bones of the previous speciesand C. logginovii, C. melanocarpus, C. uniflorus are given. The herbarium samples of C. mongolicus collected in the areaof the lake Zun-Torey were analyzed. The material is illustrated with photographs of plants introduced in the north-westof Ukraine (Kiev). The introduction of plants by the method of genus complexes by F. N. Rusanov allowed to create theCotoneaster collection, which includes 200 taxa of the genus. In the Botanical Garden named after acad. A .V. Fomin fromthe flora of Siberia preserved 11 species of Cotoneaster: C. commixtus, C. kyachticus. C laxiflorus. C. logginovii, C. lucidus,C. neo-popovii, C. megalocarpus, C. mongolicus, C. tjulinae, C. uniflorus, C. yakuticus.

Increasing anthropogenic pressure, global climate change, and the lack of large introduction centers in the Chernihiv region makes it important to preserve rare species of flora ex situ outside this administrative region. The article presents the results of the study of taxonomic composition and evaluation of the success of the introduction of rare plant species of Chernihiv region in the M. M. Gryshko National Botanical Garden of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. The study of rare plant species and the development of methods for their effective reproduction was initiated in the NBG in 1970 in a separate section “Rare plants of the flora of Ukraine.” It is established that the collection grows and protects 57 phythorarites of Chernihiv region, of which 29 species are listed in the Red Book of Ukraine (III edition), and 28 species – in the “List of regionally rare plant species of Chernihiv region”. Most plants successfully recover ex situ with moderate care or without additional human intervention. The biomorphological spectrum of introduced plants is dominated by cryptophytes (50.88 %) and hemicryptophytes (42.11 %), the shares of phanerophytes, hamephytes and therophytes are insignificant. 17 species of phythorarites formed stable homeostatic populations. Of these: 5 species are listed in the Red Book of Ukraine (Allium ursinum, Crocus reticulatus, Epipactis helleborine, Galanthus nivalis, Pulsatilla pratensis) and 12 species – in the “List of regionally rare plant species of Chernihiv region” (Aster amellus, Corydalis intermedia, C. marschal, Daphne mesereum, Equisetum hyemale, Iris hungarica, Phlomis tuberosa, Primula veris, Pteridium aquilinum, Scilla bifolia, S. sibirica, Vinca minor). Thus, the cultivation of almost a third of the phythorarites of Chernihiv region in the M. M. Gryshko National Botanical Garden testifies to the effectiveness of their preservation ex situ.

Abstract The article is devoted to the research results concerning the flora of vascular plants of the Makarovsky Nature Reserve situated in the middle part of Sakhalin Island. Nowadays, 407 species of vascular plants have been identified on its territory, and 26.8 % of the total number of taxa known on the island. Among them, 13 species of rare plants included in the Red Data Book of the Sakhalin Region have been identified. The structure of the leading families and genera is indicated, the flora is analyzed by life forms, geographical elements and ecological-cenotic groups.

The article discusses in detail the stages of development, formation and the current state of the botanical garden of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University as one of the educational and scientific bases for the training of university biologists and the center for the introduction of useful and rare plants. Concrete measures are proposed to raise the status, significance and efficiency of using the biological garden in the structure of the Scientific and Educational Center «Botanical Garden» of the KBSU.

The paper presents the first data on lichen diversity in the Kenozersky National Park (Arkhangelsk Region, Northwest Russia). As a result of the study, 263 species and 1 subspecies of lichens and allied fungi were found in the southern part of the national park. Seventeen lichen species are reported for the first time for Arkhangelsk Region. Biatora albidula is a new species for Northwest European Russia. Two recorded species are included in the Red Data Book of Russian Federation and 7 in the Red Data Book of Arkhangelsk Region. Pycnothelia papillaria can be recommended for inclusion to the Red Data Book of Arkhangelsk Region.

The study area is less susceptible to technogenesis, which allows us to consider it as a «benchmark »territory for the effective protection of rare plant species by preserving natural complexes. The article provides informationabout 27 species of plants of the Mariinsky district from the Red data book of the Kemerovo region. The analyzed data ofthe scientific Herbarium of KemSU (KEM) (1964–2017), Red data book of the Kemerovo region, the online databases.The systematic, biomorphological, ecological, and horological analyses of the list of species by conventional methodsare carried out. Data on the economic value of species, as well as their distribution, limiting factors and protection in theRussian Federation, Kemerovo region and neighboring regions are systematized. The information about 6 new protectedplants and previously unknown locations for the research area is given. The main limiting factors for protected plants offlora of the Mariinsky region are ecological and biological features, destruction and change of their habitats as a result ofhuman economic activity.
