BACKGROUND: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has made governments in a number of countries to issue and implement a regulation of social and physical restriction. It leaves a serious impact, one of which is anxiety experienced by parents of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) as the only access to therapy and education for their children has to be done online. AIM: The purpose of this study was to determine the optimization of online counseling on the anxiety in parents of children with ASD during COVID-19 pandemic. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The design of this study used pre-test-post-test design without control. The sampling technique used purposive sampling with 46 respondents. The instrument used online counseling design and Generalized Anxiety Disorders-7 which has been tested for validity and reliability. This study used marginal homogeneity test. RESULTS: The result showed that the majority of respondents’ anxiety before and after online counseling had severe and minimal anxiety (16 respondents, 34.8% and 15 respondents, 32.6%, respectively) with p = 0.012. CONCLUSIONS: There was an effect of online counseling on anxiety in parents of children with ASD during COVID-19 pandemic. This can serve as a recommendation in providing online counseling to reduce anxiety in parents of children with ASD during COVID-19 pandemic.

Background: Menarche is the first menstruation out in young women. Menarche occurs in young women who have entered the puberty phase. Often young women are not ready to face menarche, this is due to a lack of information about menstruation and preparations that must be done in the face of menstruation. With conditions that are not ready, young women often feel anxious and fearful, thus disrupting psychology and hindering daily activities. To prepare young women in the face of menarche, it is necessary to provide information correctly and right before teenage poetry enters puberty, the prepubertal period. This information can be provided through health education. through health education, young women are better prepared and not anxious and afraid when experiencing menarche. The aim of the study was to determine the effect of health education on menstruation on psychological readiness in the face of menarche in prepubertal adolescent girls in SD Gugus V Mengwi. Method: This research is a quasy-experimental study, the design of the research used is the Pre-test and Post-test One Group Design that is looking at the differences before and after the intervention. Samples taken were 79 class V students who had not experienced menarche at the SD Gugus V Mengwi V.The sampling technique is total sampling. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Statistical analysis using the Wilcoxon Match Pairs Test. Results : this study indicate that there is an influence of health education about menstruation on psychological readiness in the face of menarche in prepubertal girls in the Gwi Cluster V Elementary School. Conclusion: It is suggested to young women to increase their knowledge, awareness, and concern for the health of their reproductive functions, especially in the face of menarche after being given health education about menarche so that good readiness can be achieved when facing menarche.

The major aim of this study was to develop an indigenous Parental Perceived Stress Scale in Urdu for parents of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The research was divided into two phases: In Phase-I, indigenous Parental Perceived Stress Scale was developed and in Phase-II, psychometric properties of the scale were established. An item pool of 46 items was generated based on the Lazarus and Folkman’s (1984) stress model and interviewing the parents having children with ASD. A purposive sampling technique was used to select the sample of 502 parents from different special educational institutes. Generated items were evaluated by a panel of experts and were pilot tested on 25 parents. Exploratory factor analysis fixed to seven factor structure with 42 items. Confirmatory factor analysis yielded 32 item scale revealing Cronbach alpha of .95 indicating the scale as a reliable and valid scale for the measurement of parental perceived stress for parents of children with ASD. Clinical implications of the study indicate its use for counseling and clinical services.

Background: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is neurological conditions typically identified in early childhood. Children with ASD mainly suffer from incapacities in communication and social interaction, in addition to exhibiting unusual patterns of behavior. Objective: The present study aimed to evaluate the effects of the dual task training in the temporal-spatial aspects of gait in children with ASD. Method: It is a series of case which used as assessments the Childhood Autism Rating Scale (CARS), Motor Function Measurement, Tinetti Index and Plantigraphy. The incremental treadmill test was used previously to establish the appropriate velocity of each subject for the accomplishment of the double task protocol. Initially a warm-up of three minutes was done at three km/h, then increments of 1 km/h were performed every three minutes and the maximum speed was obtained when the individual reached the speed limit of their ambulation. All subjects underwent an experimental protocol consisting of performing dual task activities on an Embreex 552® treadmill for four weeks, twice a week on alternate days and each activity lasted three minutes. Results: The sample consisted of 6 individuals. The pre- and post-test values for gait and balance, evaluated using the Tinetti Index, was 23.33 (± 2.87) for the pre-test and 24.16 (± 1.72) for the post-test with no statistical significance (p = 0.317). The types of foot of the sample were 50% flat feet, 25% high arches feet and 25% neutral feet. The axial and proximal motor function presented statistical difference in the intragroup analysis (p = 0.008). Conclusion: The protocol was not sufficient to verify improvements in the gait of children with autism.

This qualitative study examines the social support of parents of children with ASD living in Québec, Canada. Eighteen parents described their social support experiences before and after their child’s first signs of ASD. The results of this study indicate that parents recall many unhelpful support experiences after their child’s first signs of ASD. The results also suggest that the parents’ support needs greatly outweigh the support they perceive from family and friends. To our knowledge, this study is the first to recognise that receiving adequate social support requires significant involvement from parents who find themselves having to compensate for the lack of knowledge about autism in the general population. The results of this study put forth the active role that parents play in the reshaping of their support relationships and highlight the changes that occur in these relationships over time. Implications for practice and future research are discussed.

Covid-19 has created new habits in society, including for parents of children on the autistic spectrum. Parents become less confident in food that is processed outside the home, however Gluten Free Casein Free (GFCF) food ingredients which can be beneficial for children on the autistic spectrum, can be acquired and prepared at home. This research is an experimental study using One Group Pre-Test Post-Test and sample selection of purposive sampling technique. There were 3 people who consented to be the subject of this study. The instrument used was the comprehension instrument which consisted of 3 aspects: cognitive, affective, and psychomotor. There was also a control table for the application of the healthy diet to children to validate the consistency of parents in adopting a healthy diet after receiving psychoeducation. The analysis technique used the Mann-Whitney with the results showing a significance of 0.046 (p <0.05), which means that there is a different in the score between the pre-test and post-test results in the subject group. The results show that a GFCF diet education improves parental understanding of the healthy diet of Children with ASD. Children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) have difficulty of activity and readability so that dependently to a parent or others. The study purpose to describe the family role in fulfilling of the Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) for children with ASD who gets service at Autism Center of Blitar City (Bahasa: Pusat Layanan Autis Kota Blitar). The study used descriptive-survey as a design to determine family roles among ASD children, the researcher purposively selected 34 families to be part of the study. Questionnaires were developed inspired by the theory of basic human needs and self-care and underwent validity and reliability tests. This study result showed that the family role in fulfilling the ADLs for children with ASD in the good category as many as 67.6% (23 families), in enough category as many as 29.4% (10 families), and in less category as many as 3.0% (1 family). Fulfillment of ADLs for children with ASD who need attention is the fulfillment of nutrition because parents must ensure that food that has entered into the mouth should be swallowed. Results also found out that inadequate nutrition affects child’s with ASD growth and development. The study strongly recommends the roles of parents as vital in meeting the needs of the children  and stimulates development.

Background: Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) lack sufficient language and writing abilities and experience delays in the development of their social activities. Thus, this study aimed at determining the effects of children’s pedagogical songs on the development of social as well as writing and speaking abilities in children with ASD. Methods: This was a quasi-experimental study with a pre-test, post-test and a control group design. The study sample consisted of 30 children aged 8-10 years with ASD referring to the Welfare Organization in 2018. The necessary data were collected by the Vineland Social Maturity Scale (VSMS) and the Test of Language Development (TOLD). The collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics as well as Multivariate Analysis of Covariance (MANCOVA) and one-way Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) in Manhwa Text using SPSS. Results: The present research results suggested that rhythmic poetry training was effective on the development of social activities (P<0.01), linguistic skills (P<0.01), and writing abilities (P<0.05) in the explored subjects. Conclusion: Based on the obtained results, poetry therapy increased using appropriate language skills, social skills, and written activities in children with ASD. We suggest implementing this method, as an effective intervention, in schools, health centers, and speech therapy centers for children with ASD.

This descriptive study evaluates the speech disfluencies of 8 verbal children between 3 and 5 years of age with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Speech samples were collected for each child during standardized interactions. Percentage and types of disfluencies observed during speech samples are discussed. Although they did not have a clinical diagnosis of stuttering, all of the young children with ASD in this study produced disfluencies. In addition to stuttering-like disfluencies and other typical disfluencies, the children with ASD also produced atypical disfluencies, which usually are not observed in children with typically developing speech or developmental stuttering. AbstractRecent prevalence estimates for autism have been alarming as a function of the notable increase. Speech-language pathologists play a critical role in screening, assessment and intervention for children with autism. This article reviews signs that may be indicative of autism at different stages of language development, and discusses the importance of several psychometric properties—sensitivity and specificity—in utilizing screening measures for children with autism. Critical components of assessment for children with autism are reviewed. This article concludes with examples of intervention targets for children with ASD at various levels of language development.

Hepatitis has become a health problem in the world. The hepatitis virus infected many people. According to the teacher of MTsN 02 Bondowoso more than 20 students have hepatitis A viral infection. The purpose of this research was to know the differences of students' knowledge about hepatitis A before and after counseling in MTsN 02 Bondowoso 2015. This study used pre-experimental (pre-post test design). This study used stratified random sampling technique, 127 students from 270 sample involved this research,and 143 students was excluded. We used questionnaires to collect data. The results showed that the mean value of the students 'knowledge about hepatitis A before counseling in MTsN 02 Bondowoso 2015 was 83.96 with the lowest value of 37.5 and the highest value was 100. The mean value of the students' knowledge about hepatitis A after counseling in MTsN 02 Bondowoso 2015 was 93.21 with the lowest value waf 62.5 and the highest value was 100. Paired t test showed that t (-9.07) > t table (1.98), the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. There was a difference between students' knowledge about hepatitis A before and after counseling in MTsN 02 Bondowoso 2015. This study showed that routine counseling by healthcare provider was important to prevent hepatitis A infection.; Keywords: counseling, knowledge of students, hepatitis
