Transformative Learning

The purpose of this chapter is to provide a theoretical as well as practical overview of transformative learning and how this theory applies to both faculty and students. Transformative learning (TL) is the stage where the educational process becomes more than just a transfer of knowledge; it becomes authentic, true learning. TL is reflective, experiential, student-centered and requires self-directive learners and faculty who are willing to provide meaningful, relevant, problem-based assessment and use a variety of teaching methods. The major tenets of transformational learning and how it applies to learning and curriculum are also discussed in this chapter.

Teaching in the 21st century requires universities to offer educational programs based on skill development, student-centered settings, focus on the needs of the community, and context-rich experiences that prepare graduates for both local and international practice. Several educational strategies and trends have been designed and implemented to incorporate rapid sociocultural and care model transitions. This chapter focuses on the challenge-based learning (CBL) strategy application in medical education to foster a transformative learning experience in which the patient is the center of the educational process. Several examples of CBL are presented, and an analysis is performed of the benefits and difficulties for its implementation in medical education. In the end, there is a discussion about enabling resources and dynamics for excellence in medical education.

<div><p><em>The article analyzes the peculiarities of the format of native advertising in the media space, its pragmatic potential (in particular, on the example of native content in the social network Facebook by the brand of the journalism department of ZNU), highlights the types and trends of native advertising. The following research methods were used to achieve the purpose of intelligence: descriptive (content content, including various examples), comparative (content presentation options) and typological (types, trends of native advertising, in particular, cross-media as an opportunity to submit content in different formats (video, audio, photos, text, infographics, etc.)), content analysis method using Internet services (using Popsters service). And the native code for analytics was the page of the journalism department of Zaporizhzhya National University on the social network Facebook. After all, the brand of the journalism department of Zaporozhye National University in 2019 celebrates its 15th anniversary. The brand vector is its value component and professional training with balanced distribution of theoretical and practical blocks (seven practices), student-centered (democratic interaction and high-level teacher-student dialogue) and integration into Ukrainian and world educational process (participation in grant programs).</em></p></div><p><em>And advertising on social networks is also a kind of native content, which does not appear in special blocks, and is organically inscribed on one page or another and unobtrusively offers, just remembering the product as if «to the word». Popsters service functionality, which evaluates an account (or linked accounts of one person) for 35 parameters, but the main three areas: reach or influence, or how many users evaluate, comment on the recording; true reach – the number of people affected; network score – an assessment of the audience’s response to the impact, or how far the network information diverges (how many share information on this page).</em></p><p><strong><em>Key words:</em></strong><em> nativeness, native advertising, branded content, special project, communication strategy.</em></p>

This article states the need to change the approach, as well as the forms and methods of teaching in the process of developing students' speech within the subject "The Russian language and Culture of speech". The purpose of the study is to describe the ways of active teaching methods application in order to improve students' speech culture. The author notes that modern teaching methods have ceased to respond to the needs of society and do not contribute to successful socialization of university graduates. The novelty of the study lies in the fact that the author proposes that the work on a text (in the broad sense of the term) should become the main one in the teaching process. . The author proposes an updated process model of trainingenumerates those teaching forms and methods that contribute to the successful implementation of the model, describes the conditions of using these methods in the educational process. According to the author, the modeling of problem-based situations, the use of active teaching forms and methods reveal new opportunities to the teacher, help to develop students' communicative competence, and will largely determine further successful socialization of graduates.

Abstract Introduction Conceptions of learning and teaching refer to what faculty think about teaching effectiveness. Approaches to teaching refer to the methods they use to teach. Both conceptions and approaches range from student-centered/learning-focused (active learner engagement) to teaching-centered/content-focused (passive learner engagement). This study explored how faculty teaching experience influenced faculty conceptions and their approaches to teaching. The authors hypothesized that more experienced educators appreciate and apply active learning approaches. Methods The authors used a cross-sectional survey to collect anonymous data from the Basic Science faculty at Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTCSOM). The survey included the Conceptions of Learning and Teaching scale (COLT; Jacobs et al. 2012) and demographic information. They assessed instrument reliability with Cronbach’s alpha and examined relationships between variables with correlation and chi-square and group differences with ANOVA. Results Thirty-eight percent (50/130) of faculty responded to the survey. COLT scores for student-centered (4.06 ± 0.41) were significantly higher (p < 0.001) than teacher-centered (3.12 ± 0.6). Teacher-centered scores were lower (p < 0.05) for younger (30–39, 2.65 ± 0.48) than older faculty (50–59, 3.57 ± 0.71) and were negatively correlated with using multiple teaching methods (p = 0.022). However, 83% (39/50) reported using both traditional lectures and active approaches. Discussion Faculty conceptions about teaching showed appreciation for active learning, but a tendency to use traditional teaching methods interspersed with student-centered ones. Teaching experience was not related to faculty conceptions but was related to their teaching approaches. The amount of time dedicated to teaching was related to the appreciation of active learning, and young teachers were more student-oriented.

Current social needs emphasize the education of a person with creative thinking, capable of not only finding problems but also solving them. Different strategies are applied in the educational process according to the society's requirements for an educated individual. On this basis, the appropriate content of education, organizational forms, didactic methods and the use of the latest didactic techniques are also determined. One way to achieve this is to introduce other teaching methods, such as inquiry-based teaching, into the teaching process. Inquiry-based learning aims to make science lessons more effective, especially at primary schools, and at the same time seeks to attract students to study them. It has an irreplaceable role in new, modern and successful ways of teaching science. The aim of the paper is to design methodological sheets in the 5th year of elementary school in terms of inquiry-based learning and their application to the teaching process.

Special attention is paid to the role of the teacher in the formation of language competence and the effective organization of the learning process. The article proves the importance of introducing into the educational process such interactive teaching methods as work in small groups, preparation of projects and multimedia presentations, training, and brainstorming.

Presented is enlarged didactic units developed by P.M. Erdniev for teaching mathematics, that improves the ability of students to understand educational material. This effect is achieved as a result of organizing the educational process according to the principles of complementarity of teaching methods and the spatial and temporal combination of interrelated elements of knowledge. Among the basic mathematical disciplines taught at Bauman Moscow State Technical University for students with disabilities the most difficult discipline is Linear Algebra, which is due to its content and various problems with students’ health. Linear Algebra is largely based on the theory from Analytical Geometry that is quite well perceived by students with disabilities. A comparative analysis of these disciplines shows that the enlarged didactic units linking these disciplines together can significantly simplify the study of Linear Algebra. However, due to difficulties with scheduling the time gap between these disciplines can be up to two semesters, which makes it impossible to directly use the enlarged didactic units. To solve this problem, we introduce the supporting discipline "Cognitive technologies for supporting the discipline Linear Algebra" which runs in parallel with Linear Algebra and which is based on the material of Analytical Geometry. Forming its content in close connection with Linear Algebra in accordance with the main principles of the enlarged didactic units, we smoothly lead students to the understanding of abstract concepts of Linear Algebra, reducing the complexity of learning.

The modernization of higher education is mandatory condition for the current stage of Russian society development and the ensuring of the Russian economy competitiveness. One of the priority issues of modernization is the strengthening of the significance of self-students studying. This is due primarily to the considerable reduction in the number of classroom sessions and the increase in hours provided for self-students studying. Self-studying becomes the basis for the professional development of a bachelor, encourage his cognitive interests, promotes the essential objectives of the training, that is, the formation of communicative and professional competences. The nature of the relationship between the teacher and the bachelor alters within the framework of competence-oriented education. The teacher, released from the mere transfer of knowledge, gets freedom in choosing forms of interaction or rather in choosing the methods used in such field of studying as “Foreign Language”. Classical teaching methods are replaced with new ones. The emergence of information and communication technologies led to their rapid introduction into the educational process. The organization of self-students studying through the use of information and communication technologies is of great interest to many educational specialists. The specific nature of information and communication technologies lies in the creation in the educational process of various kinds of relations and conditions of real life, requiring from bachelors not only the knowledge of work-related material, but also their familiarization with a given image, a holistic immersion in the professional environment. The use of simulation technology facilitates the formation of cognitive-search activity of bachelors, causes incentive for learning a foreign language.

Purpose: to reveal the peculiarities of teaching students of higher educational institutions of specializations of sports games and martial arts ski training. Material and methods. To solve the set tasks, we conducted a study in the 2020/2021 academic year with students of the Kharkiv State Academy of Physical Culture in the amount of 45 people, aged 18-20 years, for three weeks. Students were taught skiing techniques both according to the traditional system (control group) and according to the methodology developed by us (experimental groups). The time for learning the technique of skiing in both groups was the same 15 classes of classical style and 15 classes of skating style for 90 minutes each (according to the work program of the discipline), but the teaching methods in the experimental groups differed. The following methods were used during the research: theoretical analysis and generalization of scientific and methodological literature sources, working curricula and practical experience of teachers; analysis of information on the Internet; pedagogical observations; method of expert assessments; pedagogical experiment; methods of mathematical statistics. Results: as a result of the study, it was found that students of the experimental group (E1) received significantly better scores than the control group for performing the technique of movement in the classical style, the average score - 6.30, and the control group - 5.68 points (t=3,6; p<0,01), for performing the technique of skating style score (E1) was 6.18 points, and the control group – 5,25 points (t=5,2; p<0,01). Students of the experimental group (E2) for performing the technique of classical movement style received an average score of 5.93, compared with the control group - 5.68 points, no significant difference was found (p>0,05), the average score of the group (E2) for performing skating style was 5.90 points, and the control group – 5,25 points, which is significantly better (t=3,8; p<0,01). Conclusions. The use of different teaching methods, taking into account sports specializations, as well as the development of leading motor skills, has improved the learning outcomes of students of higher education specializations in sports games and martial arts ski training. As a result of the use of simulation and special training exercises without skis and on skis at the beginning of classes on the technique of classical and skating skiing, students of the group significantly improved the mastery of ski training on all indicators (p<0,01–0,05). This study aimed to identify the common teaching methods of vocational education teachers in Al- Mafraq Governorate in Jordan through application to a sample of (180) male and female teachers. And a tool for the study was developed consisting of (20) paragraphs, and after making sure of the tool's sincerity and its stability. The study reached the following results: that professional education teachers use a variety of teaching methods, some of which are traditional and others are modern, noting that (practical presentation style, project method, problem solving method, and method of dialogue and discussion) is the most common among professional education teachers, and that justifications Usage is mainly due to the appropriate occasion of the content of the subject of vocational education, the importance of the appropriate method to develop student discovery skills, and employing the method that makes the student the focus of educational process, and there were no statistically significant differences attributable to gender variations or the educational qualification in Yen differences appeared statistically significant Tazly variable experience on common teaching methods of professional education teachers in favor of the experience category 5-10 years. The researcher recommended a number of recommendations, the most important of which were: holding training courses for vocational education teachers in order to train them on how to choose appropriate teaching methods for the vocational education course, and the need to prepare evidence that shows the steps for teaching the content of the vocational education curriculum for professional education teachers to use when employing modern teaching methods.
