Impact of Social Media on Environmental Awareness

Social media has become a part and parcel of present day lifestyle. With the advancement in industrialization, science, technology, and globalization various environmental issues are taking place locally and globally. This social media can be utilized as a tool to promote awareness regarding various current environmental issues in a much faster way and to a large mass within a very short span of time. The importance of environmental education in determining the value of social media can be done through interaction between environmental educators and students or common people. People are using social media nowadays to support environmental campaigns and to connect people locally and globally on minor to major environmental issues. It also provides ordinary people with the ability to track the quality of the air, water, climate around them, and then share this data with others. The present chapter will focus some of the advantages of social media over creating environmental awareness and developing connectivity among the people with some examples and case studies.

This article describes how the environment is a significant part of today's world. The media has the responsibility of educating the audience about the prevailing environmental issues such as pollution, global warming, and climate change as they threaten the humankind and sustainable development. Environmental campaigns play a major role in creating awareness about environmental issues and its adverse effects on people. This article examines the content of environmental campaigns in traditional and social media. It also intends to find out the impact of those campaigns on the environmental awareness of different cross-cultural sections of people. The article is designed based on the Theory of Planned Behaviour according to which human action is guided by a number of factors. A few centralized social media campaigns together with selected campaigns on radio, print and television were taken for the study. To determine the effectiveness and impact of these campaigns, content analysis and surveys were conducted. The findings revealed that the campaigns had many positive benefits and a number of factors were influencing the promotion of environmental awareness. The study tested a few factors based on communication theories and discussions were drawn.

Bireuen is one of the  district which make a village for Acheness cakes home industry production. A various cakes in Acheness have a quality.  English for business is one the English subject must be taken by the students. English for Business is the activities of making, buying and buying selling in good service and then exchanging them for the money, the activities can be completed at home. Some problems were faced by the people; such as is not good in packaging, is not interesting cointainer, and do not how to promote their product by using social media to increase their income and also improve their quality of the products in Bireuen district, Acheh province. The method of this study is help the people by giving the suggestion and providing packing product in interesting cointainer. Giving the deeply understanding to the students and also the people in developing the mindset of enterpreneurship, the facillitate in equipment, marketing strategy, and marketing management. The results of this program are improve the students in comprehending the English for business, a good packaging and interesting cointaners, increasing the income for the people through promote in media social.

The aim of this chapter is to study the main impacts of social media on business value and performance. ICT can be a resource in resource-based perspective, becoming itself a possible source of competitive advantage (in terms of performance and value creation). A proactively tailored organization strategy can drive the people, processes, and systems, harmoniously pulling all the stakeholders in unison. Social media can bring in the commitment of the workforce and ensure involved, flexible, innovative working practices, improving the quality of work. When properly used, they can build organizations to more flexible structures, sharing services, competitiveness and interdependencies. The business processes can be harmonized by standard operating procedures, automated systems of agreed quality, prime up the competency development and facilitate clear career paths. Refining suppleness to work in tune to market demands and supplementing employee satisfaction can foster the development of individual accountability leading to leadership evolution.

The pre-merger judicial system of Swat was famous for speedy justice. Even death cases were solved in days. The people of Swat expected the same judicial system from Pakistan. Civil as well as criminal cases take long time for decision with no guarantee of fairness. Maulana Sufi Muhammad raised voice for Islamic Sharia for the first time in 1990. For the sake of Islam and speedy justice the common illiterate people of Swat supported the movement of Sufi Muhammad called TNSM. It was banned after accepting some of their demands. In 2004 another movement named TTP (Swat faction) appeared andgot control of most of the areas of Swatin a short span of time. The clerics of TTP preached their own version of Islam on FM channels and loud speakers. Imposition of Islamic laws and speedy justice were the main points of their agenda which inspired the common people of Swat and Malakand region.

Abstrak Masyarakat Desa Kawasan Konservasi (DKK) Semoyo yang terletak di Kabupaten Gunungkidul, Yogayakarta, telah mengembangkan daerahnya menjadi kawasan industri kayu yang menghasilkan produk furniture kayu yang berkelanjutan dan mandiri. Namun perencanaan pemasaran dan promosi yang dilakukan oleh masyarakat DKK Semoyo melalui media sosial Instagram belum optimal dikarenakan kualitas foto yang diunggah oleh masyarakat belum menarik. Metode pelaksanaan yang dipakai dalam kegiatan ini dimulai dari tahapan persiapan materi presentasi tentang prinsip-prinsip dasar fotografi dalam pengambilan gambar untuk nantinya dipresentasikan kepada masyarakat, pengambilan foto bersama masyarakat dengan menerapkan prinsip-prinsip dasar fotografi dan penggunaan mini box studio di lapangan, serta penggunaan aplikasi rekayasa foto untuk kepentingan bisnis sehingga kualitas foto yang akan diunggah di media sosial dapat menjadi lebih baik sehingga dapat menarik minat calon pembeli. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah masyarakat DKK Semoyo mengerti dan memahami pentingnya prinsip-prinsip dasar fotografi dalam menentukan kualitas foto yang nantinya dapat digunakan dalam perencanaan promosi di media sosial Instagram. Abstract The Semoyo Conservation Village Community which located in Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta, has developed its area into a wood industry area that produces sustainable and independent wood furniture products. However, marketing and promotion plans carried out by the Semoyo community through their social media Instagram have not been optimal because the quality of photo uploaded has not attractive. The implementation method used in this activity starts from the preparation stage of presentation material about the basic principles of photography in taking pictures to be presented to the community, taking photos with the community by applying the basic principles of photography, the use of mini box studio in the field, and the use of photo engineering applications for business purposes so that the quality of the photos to be uploaded on social media can be better so that they can attract potential buyers. The result of this activity is that the people of Semoyo Conservation Village Community understand and comprehend the importance of the basic principles of photography in determining the quality of photos that can later be used in planning promotions on Instagram social media.  


In this contemporary world, where disruptive technologies are making their way to change the entire lifestyle of a mankind, smart phones have emerged to be a life changer. The smart phones which contain the features of pocket computers possess many properties which include camera, internet, online video streaming, game applications and social media networking. However, despite their obvious advantages in bringing people together virtually, smartphones on the contrary have pulled the people apart in reality. Further, the increased usage of smartphone has given birth to different addictions which create the tendencies for the basis of „Phubbing‟. The term „Phubbing‟ is a combination of two words „phone‟ and „snubbing‟. According to oxford dictionary, phubbing is “The practice of ignoring one's companion or companions in order to pay attention to one's phone or other mobile device” led to hamper the social relationships and romantic satisfaction, that ultimately resulting into a partner‟s depression and dissatisfaction with life. The use of phone during a conversation interfere the sense of connection to the other person, and obstructs the quality of the conversation. Therefore, a deep understanding and insight is required in this area so as to protect & develop young brain socially and proactively. Keeping this in mind, a study was conducted among the millennial of Delhi (India) region so as to identify the key antecedents of Phubbing behavior. For the present study, 360 responses were collected through Purposive sampling technique. The study found that Watsapp addiction; Game addiction and Social Media addiction are the major determinants in affecting phubbing behavior of the millennial.

In the past few decades, due to ever increasing needs and greed of man, our environmental quality is deteriorating day by day. Global warming, climate change, hurricanes, melting of icebergs, floods, acid rain, and extinction of flora and fauna is all due to environmental disturbance. Environmental issues have become serious health threats to humans. Pollution is the main reason behind many types of cancer, respiratory, and cardiovascular diseases, which sometimes lead to death. Environment conservation has become the priority of every country worldwide. This problem, which we are facing today, is due to lack of environmental awareness among the individuals and lack of knowledge. This problem can be solved if environmental awareness amongst the people could be raised. The advantage of environment awareness is its contribution to public support for government action in environment policy and management. Environmental awareness can be raised with the educational and informative programs. This chapter explores the role of social media in raising environmental awareness.

Smart People, which means smart city residents or people, not only refers to one's education but also the quality of social interactions that are formed. This Social Network Analysis (SNA) emphasizes the relationship between actors / users rather than the attributes of these actors. This analysis aims to see whether the people of Pekanbaru are ready to face changes to a Smart City. Pekanbaru is a civil city that will build a Smart City, with a concept that adopts 6 pillars, one of which is Smart People. There are 720,000 Twitter users in Pekanbaru City, while the people who actively interact are only 227 users or around 0.031%. Meanwhile, a city that can be said to be ready should be around 60-80% of active users who provide opinions or comments to the government of Pekanbaru City. From this research, it can be concluded that the people of Pekanbaru City are not ready to face Smart City Madani as seen from the interaction of the community on social media Twitter.

Health anthropology has experienced a tremendous new revolution, started from last year, 2020. A New-normal Health Protocol formulation was put in place to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak. Natural and social media communities complained about humanity and human rights degradation, raising calls for resistance due to imposed global restrictive regulations. God in Christian theology is a God who promises to His human creation that He will be with and help humans to have a happy and prosperous life. By doing literature research, this paper tries to explore whether the Covid-19 management guidelines are by the consistency of covenant God in restoring the essence of humanity. How is the relation between two paradigms of society, from God’s side and human’s side, through the Health Protocol intervention? The finding is that God, who created perfect human beings, keeps all the processes of his life to become the people of His eternal kingdom. Society and individuals should be able to respond to global regulations as support for faith and perspective to continue to live and fill the days ahead with the maximum quality of life as prime human beings.  ABSTRAK: Antropologi kesehatan mengalami suatu revolusi baru yang dahsyat, dimulai dari tahun lalu, 2020. Sebuah rumusan Protokol Kesehatan New-normal diberlakukan untuk menangani wabah pandemi Covid-19. Masyarakat nyata dan media sosial mengeluhkan perasaan degradasi kemanusiaan dan hak asasi manusia bahkan mencuatkan seruan perlawanan karena peraturan pembatasan global yang dipaksakan. Allah dalam teologi Kristen adalah Allah yang berjanji kepada manusia ciptaan-Nya bahwa Ia akan menyertai dan menolong manusia untuk mendapatkan kehidupan yang sejahtera dan berbahagia. Dengan melakukan sebuah literature-research tulisan ini mencoba menelusuri apakah pedoman tatalaksana Covid-19 ini sesuai dengan konsistensi Allah yang berjanji dalam hal memulihkan esensi kemanusiaan. Bagaimanakah hubungan antara dua paradigma tentang kemanusiaan dari sisi Allah dan manusia melalui intervensi Protokol Kesehatan. Temuan bahwa Allah yang menciptakan manusia yang sempurna menjaga sepanjang proses kehidupannya agar menjadi umat kerajaan kekal-Nya. Seyogyanya masyarakat dan individu dapat menyikapi peraturan global sebagai penopang iman dan cara pandang sehingga tetap dapat menjalani dan mengisi hari-hari ke depan dengan kualitas hidup maksimal sebagai manusia prima.
