Factors Affecting Mobile Commerce and Level of Involvement

In the following, we would briefly summarize what the literature says about important factors that affect online shopping, which forms the basis for us to speculate on factors that may be important for consumers shopping via their mobile phones, the latter being one kind of online shopping, which should resemble to some degree other forms of shopping on the Internet as far as important factors affecting consumer behavior is concerned. Hypotheses are then formulated, which is followed by the methodology. After presenting the results, we discussed the implications and conclusions of this study.

Despite being in nascent stage m-commerce is gaining momentum in India. The explosive growth of smart-phone users has made India much loved business destination for whole world. Indian internet user is becoming the second largest in the world next to China surpassing US, which throws open plenty of e-commerce opportunities, not only for Indian players, offshore players as well. Mobile commerce is likely to overtake e-commerce in the next few years, spurred by the continued uptrend in online shopping and increasing use of mobile apps.The optimism comes from the fact that people accessing the Internet through their mobiles had jumped 33 per cent in 2014 to 173 million and is expected to grow 21 per cent year-on-year till 2019 to touch 457 million. e-Commerce brands are eyeing on the mobile app segment by developing user-friendly and secure mobile apps offering a risk-free and easy shopping experience to its users. Budget 4G smart phones coupled with affordable plans, can very well drive 4G growth in India.

Describes a six‐year study of children’s Internet usage which shows how preferences and habits have changed over time; this was conducted by SpectraCom Inc and Circle 1 network. Explains the research methodology and the objectives, which were to identify trends in the amount of time spent by children online now and in future, their opinions about the future role of the Internet in society and the future of e‐commerce, and parents’ roles in children’s online activities. Concludes that there is need for a more child‐friendly content in Internet sites and for more parental involvement, that children will be influential in the market for alternative devices like mobile phones, that online shopping is likely to flourish, and that children have a growing interest in online banking.

Online shopping is a form of electronic commerce which allows consumers to directly buy goods or services from a seller over the Internet using a web browser. Online shopping provides a good example of business revolution. Ecommerce has made life Simple and innovative of individual and groups. Consumer behavior on online shopping is different from physical market where he/she has access to see the products online shopping sites are fast replacing traditional or physical shops. Over, the years the trust of the customers for online shopping sites has increased considerably. The increase in the number of these sites on one hand has led to a fierce competition which means better and cheaper products for customers. However, at the same time customers have their privacy concerns when it comes to shopping online. Internet is changing the way consumers shop and buy goods and services and has rapidly evolved into a global phenomenon. The technology oriented factors like guaranteed quality, cash on delivery discounts and promotions are the major specific factors influencing customer’s attitudes toward online shopping. This research paper attempts to analyze the consumer behavior towards online shopping and the various factors influencing trend of online shopping.

This chapter discuss the challenges facing mobile commerce deployment in the United Kingdom. Although the number of mobile phone users is increasing and the technology is available for successful implementation of m-commerce, only a small number of users utilise m-commerce services. At the same time, mobile phones are becoming smarter, and most of latest phones are capable of connecting to the Internet. This chapter looks at the background of m-commerce as well as the technological development of mobile phones to their current stage. Also, technical and non technical issues which hinder the adoption of m-commerce are discussed and solutions and recommendations are given.

Since lack of trust has remained one of the barriers to online shopping, this study is intended to explore the factors that affect the perceptions of trust for students’ intent to participate in online shopping. We used non-probability procedure to select respondents since we do not know how many students have access to the internet and are engaged in online shopping. Pearson correlation, multiple regression were used to test the hypotheses. The regression analysis in this study clearly supported trust and integrity, which had significance influence towards consumer participation. The study also found the trust variable had the highest correlation with the dependent variable followed by integrity.The study provided a useful insight on the significant role of trust in students’ online shopping. The study implies that trust is a key factor that indicates the effect of the Internet vendor trust on students’ online shopping behaviour. Recommendations for future research are suggested.

The Aim of this research is to study the factors affecting the consumer behavior in the path of offline to online shopping. To this end, a survey was conducted and the questionnaires were distributed among the students of the university. The replies have been analyzed by chart analysis. The results of the survey has shown that most of the people already doing online shopping and prefer to continue it.the factors such as psychological factors, social factors emotional factors, and the privacy factors which affect the buyer approaches to online purchases. Several attitudes of consumers toward online shopping are not in rest in the study due to the study restricted to Andhra university-Commerce and management Time, the convenience and the recommendations have been identified as important factors. Time was considered to be the affecting factor for the majority of students. Most of the consumers hesitate not to do shopping offline, because of the time concern.

Driven by the accelerating advancement in information technology (IT), the penetration of the Internet and other communications services has increased substantially. Hoffman (2000), one of the most renowned scholars in the realm of Internet research, considers the Internet as “the most important innovation since the development of the printing press.” Indeed, the omnipresent nature of the Internet and the World Wide Web (WWW) has been a defining characteristic of the “new world” of electronic commerce (Dutta, Kwan, & Segev, 1998). There are a good number of academics and practitioners who predict that the Internet and the WWW will be the central focus of all commercial activities in the coming decades (e.g., Dholakia, 1998). In particular, Jarvenpaa & Todd (1996) argue that the Internet is alive with the potential to act as a commercial medium and market. Figuratively, discussing the business prospects of the Internet and the WWW is somehow analogous to discussing the Gold Rush of the 19th century (Dholakia, 1995). Admittedly, the close down of a lot of dot.coms since 2000 has been a concern for many people. However, the statistical figures we have up to now show that the growth pattern continues to be exponential. For example, the latest Forrester Online Retail Index released in January 2002 indicates that consumers spent $5.7 billion online in December, compared to $4.9 billion in November Forrester Research, 2002a). There is yet another sign of optimism for online shopping: The Internet Confidence Index (as released in September 2002), jointly developed by Yahoo and ACNielsen, rose 13 points over the inaugural survey released in June 2001, indicating a strengthening in consumers’ attitudes and confidence in e-commerce services (Yahoo Media Relations, 2002). Hence, we believe that the setback is only temporary and is part of a normal business adjustment. The future trend is very clear to us. Everybody, be it multinationals or small firms, should be convinced of the need to be on the Web.

Objective - The primary goal of the paper is to identify which purchasing channels (online or offline), Slovak consumers use to search for, research and purchase products as well as to evaluate the association between the selected elements of the purchasing process with respect to gender and generational characteristics of customers. Findings - This paper proves the existence of a significant association between the place customers search for information about products (on the Internet or in brick-and-mortar stores) and the place where they make the actual purchase. The paper also reveals that in terms of the common gender and generation characteristics and the overall purchasing process there is a significant association in most of the analyzed cases. Novelty - Although online shopping is considered convenient, cheaper and more time-efficient than shopping in brick-and-mortar stores, consumer behavior in the e-commerce sector may differ in terms of gender and generational characteristics.
