Background: In this study, a liposomal gel based on a pH-gradient method was used to increase the skin-layer retention of monocrotaline (MCT) for topical administration. Methods: Using the Box-Behnken design, different formulations were designed to form liposome suspensions with optimal encapsulation efficiency (EE%) and stability factor (KE). In order to keep MCT in liposomes and accumulate in skin slowly and selectively, MCT liposome suspensions were engineered into gels. Results: A pH-gradient method was used to prepare liposome suspensions. The optimal formulation of liposome suspensions (encapsulation efficiency: 83.10 ± 0.21%) was as follows: MCT 12 mg, soybean phosphatidyl choline (sbPC) 200 mg, cholesterol (CH) 41 mg, vitamin E (VE) 5 mg, and citric acid buffer solution (CBS) 4.0 10 mL (pH 7.0). The final formulation of liposomal gels consisted of 32 mL liposome suspensions, 4.76 mL deionized water, 0.40 g Carbopol-940, 1.6 g glycerol, 0.04 g methylparaben, and a suitable amount of triethanolamine for pH value adjustment. The results of in vitro drug release showed that MCT in liposomal gels could be released in 12 h constantly in physiological saline as a Ritger-Peppas model. Compared with plain MCT in gel form, liposomal MCT in gel had higher skin retention in vitro. Conclusion: In this study, liposomal gels were formed for greater skin retention of MCT. It is potentially beneficial for reducing toxicities of MCT by topical administration with liposomal gel.

The auxiliary devices of ultrasonic treatment was designed and manufactured. The cotton fabric was desized using 2000L desizing enzyme with the conventional enzyme desizing process and ultrasonic enzyme desizing process respectively. Through the orthogonal experiment, the optimum process conditions of conventional enzyme desizing process and ultrasonic enzyme desizing process were determined. For the conventional enzyme desizing process, the optimized desizing conditions of cotton fabrics were: desizing enzyme dosage was 1.5g/l, temperature was 80°C, PH value was 6, and time was 60mins. The optimum process conditions of ultrasonic enzyme desizing process were: desizing enzyme dosage was 1.5g/l, temperature was 50°C, PH value was 6 and time was 45minutes. The research result indicates that, under the same desizing condition, ultrasonication can improve the desizing percentage and whiteness of cotton fabric, but the fabric strength loss increases slightly. And for the same required desizing percentage, the ultrasonic enzyme desizing process saved time and reduced the temperature of experiments compared with traditional enzyme desizing process

Brass melting slag (20.38 wt.% Zn) was leached in sulfuric acid with concentration of (50 + 80) g/l H2SO4, leaching temperature of (30 + 60) °C for (30 + 120) min. The optimized conditions for 94.16% Zn extraction from brass melting slag were found as 70 g/l H2SO4, room temperature and 90 min. The leaching solution was purified by removal of Fe through Fe(OH)3 precipitation when adding ZnO to adjust pH value of 5. The solution was continuously cemented by Zn metal at 60 °C for 60 min to obtain Cu metal with high purity of 99 wt.% Cu. The purified solution with 37.64 g/l Zn was modified by Na2C03 to have pH value of about 6 and precipitation of ZnC03 (94.14 %).

Polypyrrole(PPy) nanowires were prepared by template-free method electrochemically. The effect of process parameters on the morphology of PPy was investigated. The electrocatalytic effect of PPy nanowire modified electrodes was characterized by its amperometetric response toward nitrate ions. The experimental results indicated that the process parameters of the modified electrodes such as concentration of pyrrole monomer, concentration of support electrolyte (LiClO4), and the pH of buffer solution have significant effects on the diameter the length and smooth of PPy nanowires, and thus have obviously effects on electroreduction current density of nitrate ions. Under the optimized conditions, the PPy nanowire modified electrodes have high electrocatalytic activity toward nitrate electroreduction.

Abstract The objective of the work are in-depth experimental studies of Cu(II) and Zn(II) ion removal on chitosan gel beads from both one- and two-component water solutions at the temperature of 303 K. The optimal process conditions such as: pH value, dose of sorbent and contact time were determined. Based on the optimal process conditions, equilibrium and kinetic studies were carried out. The maximum sorption capacities equaled: 191.25 mg/g and 142.88 mg/g for Cu(II) and Zn(II) ions respectively, when the sorbent dose was 10 g/L and the pH of a solution was 5.0 for both heavy metal ions. One-component sorption equilibrium data were successfully presented for six of the most useful three-parameter equilibrium models: Langmuir-Freundlich, Redlich-Peterson, Sips, Koble-Corrigan, Hill and Toth. Extended forms of Langmuir-Freundlich, Koble-Corrigan and Sips models were also well fitted to the two-component equilibrium data obtained for different ratios of concentrations of Cu(II) and Zn(II) ions (1:1, 1:2, 2:1). Experimental sorption data were described by two kinetic models of the pseudo-first and pseudo-second order. Furthermore, an attempt to explain the mechanisms of the divalent metal ion sorption process on chitosan gel beads was undertaken.

A mathematical model for flue gas desulfurization using pyrolusite pulp in jet bubbling reactor (JBR) was described. Firstly, based on the concept of two stages mass balance with chemical reaction, two models were set up, for jet bubbling zone and rising bubble zone, respectively, according to the construction of JBR. The models consist of two coupling differential equations and were solved simultaneously by integral and separation of the variables. Then the SO2 absorption efficiency expression was developed, considering the great discrepancy existing between the gas-side mass transfer coefficients of the jet bubbling zone and gas bubble rising zone. The final expression associates SO2 absorption efficiency with process conditions and JBR structure parameters, which can give some instruction and guidance for the study of reactor operation process. Predicted results from the theoretical model, including effect of pH value of the pulp, flue gas temperature and inlet SO2 concentration of flue gas on SO2 absorption efficiency, were found to be in good agreement with experimental data obtained in a jet bubbling reactor. The model provides a basis for the process scale up and operating guide.

A reference electrode is necessary for the working of ion-sensitive field-effect transistor (ISFET)-type sensors in electrolyte solutions. The Ag/AgCl electrode is normally used as a reference electrode. However, the Ag/AgCl reference electrode limits the advantages of the ISFET sensor. In this work, we fabricated a two-channel graphene solution gate field-effect transistor (G-SGFET) to detect pH without an Ag/AgCl reference electrode in the electrolyte solution. One channel is the sensing channel for detecting the pH and the other channel is the reference channel that serves as the reference electrode. The sensing channel was oxygenated, and the reference channel was fluorinated partially. Both the channels were directly exposed to the electrolyte solution without sensing membranes or passivation layers. The transfer characteristics of the two-channel G-SGFET showed ambipolar field-effect transistor (FET) behavior (p-channel and n-channel), which is a typical characteristic curve for the graphene ISFET, and the value of VDirac was shifted by 18.2 mV/pH in the positive direction over the range of pH values from 4 to 10. The leakage current of the reference channel was 16.48 nA. We detected the real-time pH value for the two-channel G-SGFET, which operated stably for 60 min in the buffer solution.
