Machinable ceramic was widely attended for it could extend application range of ceramic. As a kind of common ceramic, ZrO2 ceramic was used widely, but it was difficult to be machined. CePO4 powder was added into ZrO2 powder to prepare composite powder. In this paper, two dispersion methods were used to prepared composite powder: mechanical mixed method and flocculation of multiphase suspension were used. Composite powder that prepared by mechanical mixed method sintered at 1450°C, 1550°C and 1600°C respectively. SEM was used to study microstructure of samples. Result of SEM showed that microstructure of sample that sintered at 1550°C was better than others, and there was no obviously default was found in it. Effect of mechanical mixed method was better than flocculation of multiphase suspension in this paper.

Proving in mathematics is an important activity, but this activity is classified as difficult for prospective mathematics teacher students. This problem is influenced by self-confidence. The purpose of this study was to analyze the characteristics of achievement of students' mathematical proving ability and self-confidence  through the Moore method. This study uses a phased mixed method, namely quantitative and qualitative stages. In the quantitative stage, it was produced: "Based on the overall and PAM categories, the ability to prove the class using the Moore method is better than the class that uses the direct learning model". Moore's method can reveal the process of developing student learning outcomes in proof, so that lecturers can provide feedback to develop it. In the qualitative stage, the characteristics of the ability of several students are produced. these characteristics are reviewed based on student responses to the problem of proof. In the Moore method of learning, students are not allowed to open teaching materials, so the lecturer must follow the flow of student thinking and direct the thinking process. As an implication of the results of this study, the Moore method is well used with the notes that students must study before learning in class.

As an inherent characteristic and pervasive market phenomenon of the tourism industry, seasonality plays an important role in tourist business survivability and sustainability. It is also a significant factor for rural households involved in tourism as they plan their livelihood strategies around it. In this study, household surveys were conducted in The Beautiful South, an area for rural tourism in Guangxi of Southern China. We analyzed the livelihood capital and strategy of different household types in response to seasonal fluctuations in tourism by applying a mixed method that integrated livelihood capital index (LCI) evaluation and data envelopment analysis. The results indicate that LCI of tourism income-oriented households ranks second among the four types of households, while the LCI of tourism-engaged households in peak season performed better than that of those not engaged. However, the number of households participating in tourism nearly halved during the off season, and they are mainly diverted to temporary labor work, which may be one of the reasons for the low livelihood capital efficiency of tourism households. The implications of the findings and empirical solutions to mitigate the negative seasonal impact are discussed.

Background: Within a rights-based paradigm, wheelchairs are essential in the promotion of user autonomy, dignity, freedom, inclusion and participation. Objectives: This paper aimed to describe a group of Zimbabwean wheelchair users’ satisfaction with wheelchairs, wheelchair services and wheelchair function. Method: A mixed method, descriptive study was done. Quantitative data was collected from 94 consecutively sampled wheelchair users, who accessed wheelchair services at 16 clinics in five Zimbabwean provinces between October 2013 and February 2014, using the Quebec User Evaluation of Satisfaction with Assistive Technology for adults and children and Functioning Every day with a Wheelchair questionnaire. Qualitative data were collected through two focus group discussions (22 participants) and two case studies with participants purposively sampled from those who participated in the quantitative phase. Results: More than 60% of participants were dissatisfied with the following wheelchair features: durability (78.6%), weight (75.6%), ease of adjustment (69.1%), effectiveness (69.0%), safety (66.7%), reliability (66.7%), and meeting user needs (60.6%). Similarly, more than 66% of participants were dissatisfied with various services aspects: professional services (69.0%), follow-up (67.0%), and service delivery (68.3%). Although 60% of participants agreed that the wheelchair contributed to specific functions, more than 50% of participants indicated that the features of the wheelchair did not allow in- (53.2%) and outdoor (52.7%) mobility. Conclusion: Findings indicate high levels of dissatisfaction with wheelchair features and services, as well as mobility. It is recommended that policy and minimum service standards which incorporate evidence and good practice guidelines for wheelchair services and management of wheelchair donations are developed for Zimbabwe.

AbstractSuperhydrophobic poly(methylmethacrylate) (PMMA) surface with nanostructure was prepared effectively via phase separation and selective solvent method. It is proposed that the cooperation of the nanostructure of PMMA surface and the surface group reorientation leads to the superhydrophobicity of PMMA surface. The superhydrophobic PMMA surface with nanostructure was characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and water contact angle (WCA) measurements. The blood compatibility of the superhydrophobic PMMA surface with nanostructure was evaluated by platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and fresh human whole blood contacting experiments using pure flat PMMA film as the control. These two experiments demonstrated that blood compatibility of the superhydrophobic PMMA surface with nanostructure is better than that of the pure flat PMMA film. The significance of this research lies in that it will greatly broaden the application range of materials that can be used as biomaterials by fabrication of superhydrophobic surfaces.

Ni-YSZ cermets were prepared by combustion synthesis of Y(NO3)3, Zr(NO3)4, Ni(NO3)2 and urea followed by hydrogen reduction at 800°C. The microstructure and electrical conductivity of Ni-YSZ cermets were investigated as contrasted to those of the cermets with the same Ni contents prepared by mechanically mixing method. The cermets prepared by combustion synthesis method had better homogeneity of Ni distributed in YSZ than those prepared by mechanically mixed method; thus, both Ni and YSZ phases formed, to a certain extent, a continuous network structure. The electrical conductivity of the cermets prepared by combustion synthesis method was always better than that obtained with the samples prepared by mechanically mixed method.

In South Africa the modern outlook towards time may be said to have started in 1948. Both the two major observatories, The Royal Observatory in Cape Town and the Union Observatory (now known as the Republic Observatory) in Johannesburg had, of course, been involved in the astronomical determination of time almost from their inception, and the Johannesburg Observatory has been responsible for the official time of South Africa since 1908. However the pendulum clocks then in use could not be relied on to provide an accuracy better than about 1/10 second, which was of the same order as that of the astronomical observations. It is doubtful if much use was made of even this limited accuracy outside the two observatories, and although there may – occasionally have been a demand for more accurate time, it was certainly not voiced.
