Objective: This study investigated the efficacy of meaning-centred therapy (MCT) in the management of substance use disorders (SUD) in Nigeria. Methods: A pre-test post-test control group experimental study was conducted among young individuals with substance use disorders.  Participants were purposively selected and randomly assigned to treatment (MCT) and control groups. Participants' mean age was 22.05±2.14 years. Assessments of both groups were done at intake, immediately after completion of the therapy (which is 10-weeks), and at 1-month follow-up. Independent-sample t-test and one-way repeated measure of analysis of variance were used for analyses at 0.05 significant level. Result: Individuals in the MCT group reported significantly lower substance use disorder symptoms compared to those in the control group. There was an overall significant difference between the SUD means of participants that received MCT at pre-test, post-test, and 1-month follow-up. Conclusion: It was concluded that MCT provided effective treatment of substance use disorder among the Nigerian population; its utilization is therefore recommended.

Aims: Most people in the community believe that substance abuse is masculine, while women are progressing alongside men in this area, with statistics indicating an increasing number of infected women. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of enriching couples relationships on tolerance of distressed women who were drug abusers Methods & Materials: This is a quasi-experimental study with pre-test, post-test and follow-up test with control group. Initially, 40 women were selected from the study and 20 were randomly assigned to the experimental group and 20 to the control group. Subjects were then assessed using a distress tolerance test (Simmons & Gahr, 2005). Experimental group participants participated in enrichment sessions based on Doba, Graham, Britz and Minatra (2009) choice theory and control group subjects remained on the waiting list. A follow-up test was taken after three months. Multivariate analysis of variance with repeated measures was used to analyze the data. The above analyzes were performed with SPSS V. 24 software Findings: The results indicated that there was a significant difference between the mean of pre-test, posttest and follow-up scores of distress tolerance scales in the experimental and control groups. (P<0.05). The mean distress tolerance in the experimental group increased from 34.533 to 42.80 in the pre-test phase and reached 42.533 in the follow-up phase. Also, the significant interaction between the stages with the experimental group in the mentioned variable indicates that in the post-test and follow-up stages, the mean of the experimental groups was significantly higher than the control group. Conclusion: Due to the increasing trend of addiction in women, proper education is one of the essentials. Therefore, it is recommended to take effective steps to improve couple distress tolerance training by enriching couple relationships

This study is conducted with a view to examine the effect of Scamper Education Program on five-year-old children’s creativity. Study group of the research consists of a total of 40 children including an experimental group of 20 five-year-old children and a control group of 20 children attending kindergarten affiliated to Directorate of National Education in Çankırı city center. In the research, an experimental model with pretest, posttest, follow-up test control group was used. Children in the experimental group were applied with Scamper Education Program two days a week for a period of eight weeks. The children in the control group continued their own training programs. As the data collection tool in the study, “Personal Information Form” and “Creative Behavior and Personality Traits Scale were used.  Single factor covariance analysis (ANCOVA) and t test were used for data analysis. As a result of the research, it has been determined that there is a significant difference between creativity score averages of children in the experiment and control group (p<0.001), there is no significant differences between post-test and follow-up test score averages of children in the experiment group (p>0.05). This result shows that Scamper Education Program provided to the experimental group is effective in creativity of children.

Aims: Patients with high blood pressure usually experience high levels of stress that affect their emotion regulation and self-care behaviors. The current study aimed to examine the cognitive-minded group therapy on perceived stress, emotional, cognitive regulation, and self-care behaviors in patients with hypertension. Methods & Materials: The study has a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test, post-test, follow-up, and a control group. The study population was all people with hypertension referred to medical centers in Kish Island, Iran, in 2010 (March to June). The research sample consisted of 32 qualified candidates who were selected using the purposive sampling method. Then they were randomly assigned to the experimental and control groups. Perceived stress, emotional and cognitive regulation, and self-care questionnaires of patients with hypertension were used to collect information in the pre-test, post-test, and follow-up stages. The experimental group underwent mindfulness-based group therapy, but the control group did not receive any intervention. The obtained data were analyzed with repeated measures analysis of variance in SPSS v. 22. The significance level of the tests was considered 0.05. Findings: The results showed a significant difference between the experimental and control groups in the mean scores of positive stress (P=0.001), negative stress (P=0.001), positive emotion (P=0.001), negative emotion (P=0.001), medication regimen (P=0.003), diet (P=0.011), and disease management (P=0.026) in the post-test and follow-up. But there was no significant difference between the mean scores of food labels (P=0.195). Conclusion: The effectiveness of mindfulness-based group therapy on reducing stress and negative emotion and improving self-care of patients with hypertension suggests that in addition to the physical components of chronic diseases, the psychological components of patients be considered to prevent recurrence diseases and increase adherence to treatment in them.

Objetivos: Comparar la efectividad del entrenamiento de estrategias e intervenciones cognitivo-conductuales basadas en la atención plena en el estrés competitivo de los francotiradores (es decir, nivel de cortisol salival) con un seguimiento de dos meses. Métodos:Veinticuatro francotiradores profesionales varones jóvenes con antecedentes de disparos durante al menos 3 años se dividieron aleatoriamente en tres grupos: intervención cognitivo-conductual (n=8), intervención basada en la atención plena (n=8) y grupo de control (n=8). Los participantes de los grupos experimentales participaron en seis sesiones de formación durante seis semanas (75-90 minutos cada sesión). La concentración de cortisol en saliva se midió en reposo, antes y después de la prueba y el seguimiento. Resultados:ANOVA con medidas repetidas mostró un efecto principal para el grupo (F2.21=3.787, sig=0.039) y etapa (F3.21=52.529, sig=0.001) y también el efecto interactivo entre los grupos en la etapa (F6, 42=3.700, sig=0.005). El ANOVA de medidas repetidas mostró que la intervención cognitivo-conductual a nivel de cortisol salival tuvo un efecto en el postest, mientras que la intervención de mindfulness tuvo efectos positivos en el postest y los tiempos de seguimiento. No hubo diferencias significativas entre los grupos de atención plena y cognitivo-conductual en la prueba posterior. Además, los resultados del tiempo de seguimiento mostraron que hubo una diferencia significativa solo entre la atención plena y el grupo de control. Aplicaciones prácticas:Los resultados indican que la práctica de habilidades psicológicas, especialmente la atención plena, se puede utilizar para reducir el estrés previo a la competencia. Objectives: The objective of this study is to compare the effectiveness of cognitive–behavioral strategies training and mindfulness based-interventions on shooters competitive stress (i.e., level of salivary cortisol) with two-months follow-up. Methods: Twenty four young male professional shooters who had a history of shooting for at least 3 years were randomly assigned into three groups: cognitive-behavioral intervention (n=8), mindfulness based intervention (n=8) and control group (n=8). Participants in the experimental groups participated in six training sessions during six weeks (75-90 minutes each session). Salivary cortisol concentration was measured at rest, pre- and post-test and follow-up times. Results: ANOVA with repeated measures showed a main effect for group (F2,21 = 3.787, sig = 0.039) and stage (F3,21 = 52.529, sig = 0.001) and also the interactive effect between the groups in the stage (F6,42 = 3.700, sig = 0.005). ANOVA with repeated measures showed that cognitive-behavioral intervention on salivary cortisol level had effect in the post-test, while mindfulness intervention had positive effects on the post-test and follow-up times. ANOVA also revealed that there was no significant difference between the mindfulness and cognitive-behavioral groups in the post-test time. In addition, the results of the follow-up time showed that there was significant difference only between mindfulness and control group. Practical Applications: Results indicate that the practice of psychological skills, especially mindfulness can be used to reduce the pre-competition stress. Os participantes nos grupos experimentais participaram em seis sessões de treino durante seis semanas (75-90 minutos cada sessão). A concentração de cortisol salivar foi medida nos tempos de repouso, pré e pós-teste e acompanhamento. Resultados: ANOVA com medidas repetidas mostrou um efeito principal para o grupo (F2,21 = 3.787, sig = 0.039) e o estágio (F3,21 = 52.529, sig = 0.001) e também o efeito interactivo entre os grupos no estágio (F6,42 = 3.700, sig = 0.005). A ANOVA com medidas repetidas mostrou que a intervenção cognitivo-comportamental ao nível do cortisol salivar teve efeito no pós-teste, enquanto que a intervenção de atenção teve efeitos positivos no pós-teste e nos tempos de seguimento. ANOVA também revelou que não havia diferença significativa entre o nível de atenção e os grupos cognitivo-comportamentais no período pós-teste. Além disso, os resultados do tempo de seguimento mostraram que só havia uma diferença significativa entre a atenção e o grupo de controlo. Aplicações práticas: Os resultados indicam que a prática de aptidões psicológicas, especialmente a de ter consciência, pode ser utilizada para reduzir o stress pré-competição. Background and purpose: The earlier development of the attitude toward exclusive breastfeeding produces the longer exclusive breastfeeding duration. Considering the first marriage age among Indonesian, the attitude toward exclusive breastfeeding should be developed at the adolescence age. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of the attitude toward breastfeeding concept based comic on the adolescent's attitude toward exclusive breastfeeding. Method: This was a quasy experimental posttest only with control group study. The respondents were provided an comic. The respondent's attitude toward exclusive breastfeeding was measured using The Breastfeeding Attitude Questionnaire. Data were analyzed using independent and dependent t test. Results: The majority of respondents were aged 17 years old in both intervention (70%) and control grup (63%), first child in both intervention (23,3%) and control grup (26,7%), and had a nuclear family in both intervention (80%) and control grup (90%). The independent t test showed that there was a significant difference between post-test scores among the intervention and control groups (t = 5,602, p < 0,01). Conclusion and recommendation: Nurses may use the Attitude Toward Breastfeeding based comic to increase the Adolescence's attitude toward breastfeeding.Keywords: Comic, Attitudes Toward Exclusive Breastfeeding, Adolescence

The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the "patience training program" on the patience and life satisfaction levels of university students. The study was organized as a pre-test, post-test experiment and control group design. For a total of 30 students from which were 17 in the control group and 17 in the experimental group, patience training was given for 5 weeks. The "Patient Scale" developed by Schnitker (2010) and adapted to Turkish by Eliüşük and Arslan (2016) and the "Life Satisfaction Scale" developed by Diener, Emmons, Larsen and Griffin (1985) and adapted to Turkish by Dağlı and Baysal (2016) were used as a data collection tool in the study. The "Wilcoxon" test was used for the comparison of in-group differences in the analysis of obtained data and the "Mann-Whitney U" test was used in examining the differences between the two groups. As a result of the study, it was observed that the patience and life satisfaction average scores of students in the experimental group receiving "patience training" increased significantly, while there was no significant difference in the patience and life satisfaction averages scores of the control group students.

This research is aimed to determine the effectivity of training to increase self-efficacy towards career preference options in psychology. This is a quantitative research, in which experiment method is applied by using pretest-posttest control group design. The dependent variable is self-efficacy towards career preference options in psychology. Self efficacy towards career preference options in psychology is measured using self efficacy towards career preference options scale. The independent variable in this research is career planning training. The research subject are 40 persons groupped into experiment group and control group. Pre-test are given to both experiment and control group. next, the experiment group is given treatment of career planning training. The next step, post test is administered to experiment group and control group. The research is analized using anava repeated measure. Anava repeated measure resulted showing significant result. Thus, hyphothesis stating that there is effect of career planning training to self efficacy towards career preference options for psychology student of UNESA is accepted. Self efficacy towards career preference options for psychology increased after career planning training is given as treatment. Self efficacy towards career preference options for psychology in experiment group between pre-test and post-test is different.Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas pelatihan dalam meningkatkan efikasi diri terhadap pilihan bidang minat karir psikologi. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen dengan desain eksperimen yang digunakan adalah pretest-posttest control group design. Variabel tergantung pada penelitian ini adalah efikasi diri terhadap pilihan bidang minat karir psikologi. Kemampuan efikasi diri terhadap pilihan bidang minat karir psikologi diukur dengan skala efikasi diri terhadap pilihan bidang minat karir. Sedangkan variabel bebas dalam penelitian ini adalah pelatihan perencanaan karir. Subjek penelitian yang berjumlah 40 orang yang kemudian dikelompokkan ke dalam kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol. Pada kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol diberikan pre-test. Selanjutnya pada kelompok eksperimen dikenai perlakuan berupa pelatihan perencanaan karir. Tahapan berikutnya adalah pemberian posttest pada kelompok eksprimen dan kelompok kontrol. Analisis yang akan digunakan adalah anava amatan ulangan. Hasil anava amatan ulangan menunjukkan hasil yang signifikan. Dengan demikian, hipotesis yang menyatakan bahwa ada pengaruh pelatihan perencanaan karir terhadap efikasi diri terkait pilihan minat bidang karir psikologi pada mahasiswa psikologi UNESA, diterima. Efikasi diri terhadap pilihan minat bidang karir di Psikologi meningkat setelah diberikan pelatihan perencanaan karir.

Abstract : Schizophrenia is a disease process that affects perceptions, emotions, social behavior and the ability to accept reality correctly. Families with schizophrenics often feel anxiety and burdens associated with client care. The problem can be solved by giving FPE therapy. This study aims to explain the effect of Family Psychoeducation (FPE) therapy on anxiety and family burden in caring for family members with schizophrenia. This research uses quasi experiment research pre-post test with control group. The number of respondents in this study were 18 respondents for the control group and 18 respondents for the treatment group. The study was conducted in District Bola from 24 May to 28 June 2017. Giving therapy done by the researchers themselves who have obtained a license from nurse specializing in mental health nursing. Data analysis used in this research is dependent t test and independent t test. The result of dependent t test of anxiety and load test was obtained significance value <0,05, this result showed significant decrease of anxiety and load after FPE therapy. While the results of independent t test showed that the significance of anxiety and family burden <0.05 which means that there is a significant difference in reducing anxiety and family burden between the treatment and control group after being given FPE therapy, that is, with an average decrease in anxiety and burden For the treatment and control groups of 10.11 and 3.5, respectively. This means that FPE is more effective in reducing family anxiety. Thus it is expected that FPE can be applied as an alternative therapy in reducing the anxiety of families who care for people with schizophrenia.Keywords : family psychoeducation,  anxiety, family burden Abstrak : Skizofrenia merupakan proses penyakit yang mempengaruhi persepsi, emosi, perilaku sosial dan kemampuan menerima realita dengan benar. Keluarga dengan penderita skizofrenia seringkali merasakan kecemasan dan beban yang berkaitan dengan perawatan klien. Masalah tersebut dapat diatasi dengan pemberian terapi FPE. Penlitian ini bertujuan menjelaskan pengaruh terapi Family Psychoeducation (FPE) terhadap kecemasan dan beban keluarga dalam merawat anggota keluarga dengan skizofrenia. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian quasi experiment pre-post test with control group. Jumlah responden dalam penelitian ini 18 responden untuk kelompok kontrol dan 18 responden untuk kelompok perlakuan. Penelitian dilakukan di Kecamatan Bola mulai tanggal 24 Mei-28 Juni 2017. Pemberian terapi dilakukan oleh peneliti sendiri yang telah mendapatkan lisensi dari perawat spesialis jiwa. Analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah dependent t test dan independen t test. Hasil analisis dependent t test kecemasan dan beban didapatkan nilai signifikansi< 0,05, hasil ini menunjukkan penurunan kecemasan dan beban secara bermakna setelah diberikan terapi FPE. Sedangkan hasil analisis independent t test menunjukkan bahwa nilai signifikansi kecemasan dan beban keluarga < 0,05 yang berarti bahwa ada perbedaan yang bermakna dalam menurunkan kecemasan dan beban kelurga antara kelompok perlakuan dan kontrol setelah diberikan terapi FPE, yaitu dengan rata-rata penurunan kecemasan dan beban untuk kelompok perlakuan dan kontrol masing-masing yakni 10,11 dan 3,5. Hal ini berarti bahwa FPE lebih efektif dalam menurunkan kecemasan keluarga. Dengan demikian diharapkan bahwa FPE bisa diaplikasikan sebagai alternative terapi dalam menurunkan kecemasan keluarga yang merawat penderita skizofrenia.Kata Kunci : family psychoeducation, kecemasan, beban keluarga

This quasi-experimental study involves the experimental and control group which consist of 60 students in first year of SMA Muhammadiyah Sidenreng Rappang   2019/2020 academic year.  The reading test is used to collect data to find out do the students can achieve significant result in reading test using Text-based Character. Based on the result the mean score of the experimental group pre-test was 72.67 and classified into good classification, while the control group was 69.63 classified into good. The mean score of the post-test after treatment for the experimental group was 82.43 (very good) while the control group was 76.53, (good) classification still.  The researcher found that the T-table is higher than the t-test (α) (1.659<2.021). It means that there is a significant difference in the pre-test of the control and experimental group, while in post-test of an experimental and control group, the researcher finds that the T-test is higher than the alpha and previous score in the the pre-test (α) (3.089>2.021). The degree of freedom is 58. This study reveals that the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted, and the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. This is means that the use of Text-based Characters can improves students' reading skills in significant way.

The objectives of this study were to find out whether or not there was significant improvement in writing and speaking achievements of the eighth grade students of SMPN1 Jarai after they were taught by using Sociogram, to find out whether or not there was significant improvement in each aspect of writing and speaking achievements of the eighth grade students of SMPN1 Jarai after they were taught by using Sociogram, to find out whether or not there was significant difference in writing and speaking achievements between the eighth grade students of SMP 1 Jarai who were taught by using Sociogram and those who were not, and to find out the perception of the eighth grade students of SMPN 1 Jarai after they were taught by using Socoiogram. In this paper, an experimental research method with pre and post test control group design was used with 70 students as the sample divided into two groups, experimental and control group. However, only the students of the experimental group were taught by using Sociogram. The obtained data were analyzed by using t-test. The students were given questionnaire to know their perceptions. The result showed that there was a significant difference in both students? writing and speaking achievements after they were tought by using Sociogram. Furthermore, it was found that there was a significant difference in students? writing and speaking achievement between the experimental and control groups. In conclusion, Sociogram improves the students? writing and speaking achievements.
