Covid-19 has infected approximately 160 million people globally since its first occurrence in China in 2019. Consequently, the whole world has been negatively impacted, with numerous people losing their lives, jobs and loved ones, including breadwinners in families. With the prevalence of the pandemic also came various views on the challenges that came with it. Literature cannot be left out of the modes that are providing an understanding of the negative impact of Covid-19 on the world. Therefore, this paper explores the poetry of the Nigerian poet, novelist and essayist, Ben Okri, in light of his thematisation of spirituality. By spirituality, it is meant the ‘recognition of a feeling or sense or belief that there is something greater than myself’, the times and situation(s) in which one exists’. In this paper, Okri’s poetry is considered as an essential index into how ‘the spiritual’ is conceived and articulated, even in times of pandemics. The paper adopts the Hermeneutical Approach as a theoretical lens through which Okri’s poetry may be best viewed and understood. The Hermeneutical Approach essentially entails the analysis of texts in order to develop insight or thoughtful wisdom. Furthermore, the paper proffers that Okri’s poetry is invested with a spiritual temper that makes it relevant as it encourages and makes and keeps ‘awake’ a spiritual sensibility in the people during the Covid-19 pandemic. The analysis is undergirded by a predetermined set of themes, namely; race, identity, healing, spirituality, thought and consciousness that Okri poeticises about and subsequently interrogates in his poetry. In the process, Okri’s poetry also encourages spiritual renaissance and the awakening of consciousness, by tempering in a reader the inalienable fact that to change or shape reality, people ought to do it themselves. Okri’s poetry challenges people to define themselves and defy all false definitions of themselves made by others. Ultimately, the paper explicates that Okri’s poetry is charged with pointed rebuke of people’s apparent apathy towards issues such as freedom, equality and transformation (all of which belong to the great stream of ‘the spiritual’), of which he submits that people ought to take charge of how these three important entities come about and exist in society.

Endowment as a possessed form of charity was very much present in the life of Serbian communities. Endowments are one of the best examples of an individual’s love and respect for their nationality and for the spiritual and intellectual support of Serbian youth and intellectuals. The times that followed the Second World War diminished the public’s interest in this type of charity, ie the fate of these funds became uncertain until they were extinguished. Today, when they are no more, the learned good deeds and the significance they had in life testify to them the most. Archival material, as well as other rich bibliography, provide a real opportunity to present the life of these endowments and their creators, as a phenomenon of exceptional importance in the Serbian people. Leaving their endowments to those who will come into the world after them, the endowments are permanently ugly. Conscious of their presumed role in a given time and space must not replace the work of those who, through self-preservation, love for the people and their neighbors and noble feelings, considered it our duty to publish their immortal deeds.

Lockdown is considered to be the best of policies around the world to fight the deadly virus of COVID-19 which decimated hundreds of people in the last six months. However, this is not a cost-free measure. Billions of dollars worth of economic activities halted hinging upon these measures imposed by the governments of the countries. For instance, IMF predicted that the GDP growth will decline by 4.9 percent in 2020. Global trade is also expected to plummet by 27 percent in the second quarter of the year. In addition, paucity of recreational activities severely affects the mental health of the people. While imposing lockdown, both the cost and benefit should be analyzed to understand the real benefit of these measures on human life. This study critically examines the impact of the lockdown measures on mental health, and the economy of Bangladesh along with the efficacy of the measures on containing the virus. We found that the negative impact on the economy and mental health surpasses the positive impact of curbing the pandemic. It also compares the efficacy of the measures in different countries to find out the pattern that resembles with Bangladesh. From all the data, we conclude that the cost of lockdown measures in the country is greater than the benefit it brings to Bangladesh.

AbstractBeyond knowledge, critical thinking, new ideas, rigorous science and scholarly development, this chapter argues for the university as a space of life. Through the complexities and incommensurabilities of academic life, and drawing on Julia Kristeva’s notion of revolt, Emmanuel Levinas’ notion of Otherness, and Novalis’ concept of Romantisierung, it makes a philosophical argument for recognizing what might appear as uncomfortable transgressions of the marketable, measurable characteristics of World Class Universities. In various ways, the chapter asks where there is space, in the World Class University, for elements which may not overtly align with the neoliberal clamour for international recognition and esteem. In elevating everyday life in the university, the chapter blurs boundaries of the celebrated, strived for rankings with the spaces of life that are dark and heterotopic, messily entangled with histories, polyphonic human and more than human voice, beings and energies, within the university. Revolt provokes a re-turn to re-question the ethics and boundaries of treatments of ‘world’ and ‘class’ in conceptions of the World Class University. Here, ‘World Class University’ is not necessarily a globally streamlined and internationally bench-marked institution, flexing its socio-economic muscles in the face of the world. Instead, it is an institution that speaks for others who have been made silent and deprived of their own critical voice. It speaks for the suppressed and marginalized, and it speaks for the ones who are no longer with us, or who have not yet arrived. It speaks for the people and the times yet to come.

Globalization is caused by technological developments, economic progress and the sophistication of information facilities. The aforementioned conditions have had a positive impact as well as a negative impact on the Indonesian nation. The reality is that this is the biggest challenge for the world of education today. In fact culture cannot be separated from education, even culture is the basis or basis of education. This formula reaches far into the future, because it is said that education is not only based on an aspect of culture, namely the intellectual aspect, but also on culture as a whole. The culture on which this education is based must be national in nature. Thus the culture in question is real culture, namely the culture that lives in the Indonesian national society. This picture interrupts us to really pay attention to the importance of character building based on culture (Character building), with the development of technology in this era of digitalization, we are able to create students with culture-based characters and not abandon the development of the times, but use the development of this digitalization era to preserve, develop innovation with creativity that is owned to keep loving the heritage of our ancestors

The world has been crippling due to COVID 19. This pandemic has affected the lives of everyone. But the people who belong to the lower ladder in socioeconomic status may suffer more due to COVID 19 in developing countries. This paper aimed to explore factors influenced by COVID 19 and their association with the impact of COVID 19 on the life of destitute people. To reach the aim, the authors adopted a quantitative approach. A field survey on a sample of 250 destitute people was conducted using a self-constructed questionnaire. Factor analysis (principle component) found that 5 factors are influenced by COVID 19 in the life of destitute people and these are mental trauma and fear, full of uncertainty, reduced income level, feeling helplessness, and health safety issues. With a composite mean of 3.4056 and 0.698 standard deviations often tangible and intangible aspects of life, the paper found a moderate negative impact of COVID 19 on the life of destitute people. Multiple regression analysis evinces that factors found in factor analysis can explain 67.2% variance and has a statistically significant association with the impact of COVID 19 on the life of destitute people and among the five factors mental trauma and fear are the most influential (β.279, P< 0.05). Finally, this paper concluded that cogitation of factors found in this paper may help the authority to mitigate the negative impact of such pandemic on the life of destitute people in a developing country like Bangladesh.

In Malaysia, a total of 31,548 cases and 249 deaths were recorded. The Covid-19 pandemic has caused economic paralysis and affected the lives of communities around the world. The main objective that will be discussed in this article is the Malaysian government's approach in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic to ensure that the country's socio-economy is not affected where it could affect national security. In this article, the method of collecting information is through references in websites, e-journals, e-newspapers, and related reports. The results show that the Malaysian government has taken two main approaches in managing national security, namely through the health and economy of the people. The health approach is through efforts to curb the Covid-19 epidemic from spreading further in the country which can have a negative impact on the economy and society of Malaysians. Next, the people's economic approach implemented is through the People's Economic Stimulus Package announced by the government to help the people affected by the Covid-19 epidemic and ensure that the country's economy can be restored. This approach has succeeded in maintaining national peace as well as preventing the occurrence of things that could affect national security such as riots or demonstrations by the people due to dissatisfaction with the government.
