The main purpose of the article is to model the main factors affecting non-performing loan incurred in the process of lending to clients in Vietnam's commercial joint stock banks during the period of 2009 - 2017. The theories and empirical research studies for the macro and micro factors affecting nonperforming loan are mentioned in the research paper. Using the qualitative research method and the quantitative research, the article analyzes the practical credit situation of the whole banking system in Vietnam and non-performing loan ratios of selected banks. In addition, the Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) is used in the study to model the major factors impact on non-performing loan. The final results showed that the paper has constructed two models with the result as followed, the first model has six statistically significant variables while the second one has only five variables statistically significant.

This research was conducted to investigate the factors influencing the commercial bank’s competitive capacity in an emerging country. Data were collected from the domestic-owned commercial banks and foreign-owned commercial banks listed on Vietnam’s Stock Exchange over the period of nine years from 2010 to 2018. Three statistic approaches were employed to address econometrics issues and to improve the accuracy of the regression coefficients: Pooled Ordinary Least Square (Pooled OLS), Random Effects Model (REM), and Fixed Effects Model (FEM). To correct the diagnostics and endogeneity in the model, the study uses Generalized Least Square (GLS) and Generalized Method of Moments (GMM). In order to account for the degree of competitive capacity we use Lerner index. Results demonstrate that the impact of bank-specific characteristics on market power in banks is statistically significant, and there are substantial distinguishments of economic consideration among these factors. In addition, a bank with a higher level of competitive capacity in the previous year will outstandingly generate competitive capacity in the current year. Another possibility, a greater level foreign investment into the banks in the host country could further encourage competitive capacity in the banking system. Finally, economic growth rate has no impact on competitive capacity at a significant level of 5% while a positive effect from inflation on bank’s market power could be found.

his study aims to: (1) to know and analyze the extent of volatility (vulnerability) of sharia banking industry in Indonesia in the face of competition (2) to know and analyze factors affecting vulnerability of sharia commercial banks; (3) to know and analyze the extent of sustainable development of sharia banking industry to Indonesia's economic development. The research conducted to measure the vulnerability (volatility) of proto folio of syariah bank using observation period 2015, and the data used is cross section data. The research design used in this research is quantitative research, using asset dimension (asset portfolio, liability portfolio, equity portfolio) and stressor (pressure, including: credit risk, market risk, and liquidity risk). The activity plan of this research is: in the initial stage of conducting theoretical study related to the vulnerability related to banking especially BUS; The next step is to determine the asset and stressor dimensions associated with the BUS; Further determine the indicators related to assets and stressors; The next step performs calculations to determine the index of each BUS as well as the dimensions that affect the vulnerabilities faced by each BUS.Target expected outcomes can be generated from this research is: for the object of research (BUS) provide a solution for BUS to deal with and overcome the vulnerabilities encountered and policies that must be done. For policy makers, the results of this study are expected to provide input in decision-making and other policies.Measurement of vulnerability to be performed related to banking operations in the face of competition and the continuity of BUS in Indonesia. The outcomes of this study are expected to be included in Bank Indonesia journals, the selection of this journal is based on studies conducted in the banking sector, especially BUS in Indonesia.

Non-performing loans (NPL) is a worldwide issue that affects financial markets stability in general and banking industry viability in particular. The net non-performing loan (NPL) ratio in the banking system since the Asian financial crisis has gradually been in decline from 13.6% in December 1998 to 2.8% in May 2008. Government intervention to non-performing loan recovery strategies have contributed significantly in the decline. The Malaysian government and banks have succeeded in removing the non-performing loans (NPL) from banks Balance Sheet. This study examines the factors influencing non-performing loans in commercial banks in Selangor. A quantitative research approach is employed in this research following the positivist assumption with a realist ontology and objectivist epistemology. Data was collected using a probabilistic sampling method, particularly a stratified random sampling technique. The adapted survey questionnaire employed in this study and distributed 150 questionnaires and successfully received 130 questionnaires. Overall, the researcher has discussed about the findings of the analysis that was conucted using the SPSS software. Descriptive approach, correlation and multiple regression analysiss had been shown during the analysis. The descriptive approach displayed direct  results while  the correlation displayed the relationship between the dependent variable (non-performing loan) and the independent variables (standard of living, consumer income, economy of the country, bank interest rate). In this research, found three factors that influencing non-performing loan in Malaysia which are consumers’ income, the economy of the country and bank interest rate. The bank will found that the bank interest rate affect the rate of non-performing loan increase. For the future researchers, this research will benefit them as well. If they are doing their researches which are related to this topic, they can gather everything they want easily. Besides that, it will benefit the researcher who is going to do this research study in Malaysia. This is because the information in Malaysia is limited.

In modern conditions, the methods of classical economic analysis are not enough to solve the problem of bank stability. This requires the development of methods and tools to analyze the current situation in the bank and to develop sound management decisions aimed at ensuring the stability of the bank. The article notes that the analysis of the influence of the structure and quality of assets on the profitability of commercial banks is an important step for assessing the financial position and reliability of a bank, and a method is proposed for constructing a model of the dependence of bank’s profitability on the factors that determine it. The scientific sources were the works of Russian and foreign researchers in the field of modeling and characteristics of the banking system, financial stability of credit institutions, assessment of the creditworthiness of potential borrowers, system organization and information technology. The article uses the methods of economic analysis, differential calculus and mathematical statistics, as well as the achievements of the main scientific schools dealing with the problems of economic and mathematical modeling and economic analysis of banking. In order to determine the most significant economic factors affecting the profitability of commercial banks, generalization of the theoretical, methodological and applied aspects of studies devoted to the study of the influence of the structure and quality of assets on the profitability of commercial banks was carried out, and a correlation and regression analysis was made. The model presented in the article can be used to predict changes in the profitability of Russian commercial banks and to predict promising directions for growth in profit and profitability of the bank.

The paper aims to investigate the factors affecting firm capital structure in the context of Vietnam. The research sample includes 290 non-financial listed companies on Vietnamese stock market. This study applied Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) to explain the research results. The paper investigates six factors influencing on firm capital structure including return on assets (ROA), return on equity (ROE), firm size, tangible assets, risks, and growth. The empirical results show that return on assets, tangible assets, risks, and growth have a statistically significant positive effect on the firm capital structure while return on equity has a statistically significant negative effect on the firm capital structure. In addition, when dividing companies into sectors, the study realized that determinants of capital structure in some sectors are consistent with results for entire sample. Finally, firm size has the same impact on capital structure in oil & gas companies and material companies whereas it is not statistically significant for other companies. These evidences provide a new insight to managers on how to determine the reasonable capital structure.
