The article identifies unfair practices of honey fraud and devaluing its nutritional value. These are currently a common practice, reflected in the reduced quality of honey offered on the Slovak and world markets. The paper is based on the findings of a honey quality survey carried out by the Institute of Molecular Biology of the Slovak Academy of Science and the measures of the world organization of beekeeping associations Apimondia on honey fraud. Subsequently, measures are proposed to increase consumer literacy when buying bee honey.

Raising more grain and meat per hectare of land is now more important to the world's future than further lowering the global population growth rate. That's because the human population is already stabilizing rapidly, but global meat demand is soaring. Will the additional meat be produced by ploughing up the world's tropical forests and other wildlands, or by increasing yields from existing fields and pastures? Will land-deficient Asia's workers be priced out of world markets by high food costs? These are vital questions for the twenty-first century, both for people's quality of life and for saving the environment. The real food danger for the future is not famine, but the potential that millions of square miles of wildlife habitat will be ploughed up for low-yield crops and livestock.

One autumn out of four, election forecasting surpasses baseball as America's national pastime. Then, everyone wants to know who will win, and everyone has a guess. Now, with the ballots carefully counted, forecasters await their awards. Below, I evaluate the quality of a wide range of 1984 presidential and congressional forecasts. The evaluation proceeds from nonscientific to scientific approaches, although this distinction is sometimes blurred. To lower the level of suspense, I should say that some forecasts turned out to be quite good. By way of conclusion, I offer a set of rules for selecting a high-quality forecasting instrument.Lucky GuessesMany popular election forecasting rules take advantage of chance, which has been working in their favor. Perhaps the most famous is the World Series forecast, which says, “If the American League wins the World Series, then the Republican presidential candidate will win.” This technique was accurate from 1952 to 1976, missed in 1980, but worked again in 1984 with the victory of the Detroit Tigers. A lesser known rule of this type, which is my personal favorite, is based on the Beaujolais wine harvest. Accordingly, “If the Beaujolais vintage looks bad, then the Republican will take the presidency.” This has held post-1960, and continues to do so with the poor 1984 crop (yielding a wine too light, with little color). There are other such rules that relate more directly to the candidates themselves and, in that sense, have more verisimilitude.

ABSTRACT: Beans are popular as a protein-filled legume of high nutritional value, being one of the most planted species in the world. However, recent years have seen a decrease in the consumption of beans, owing to the time necessary to cook it domestically. Thus, it is being replaced in people’s diets by other foods. An alternative preparation that supplies modern consumers’ demands is industrially processed beans. This article aimed to provide a literature review on the processing of canned beans. Few recent studies have been performed in Brazil on this subject, as most studies have focused instead on the technological quality of dry bean grains processing. In this article industrial processing concepts and features, production unit operations, and canned beans quality standards will be discussed. These efforts are expected to contribute to the Brazilian beans production chain, and consequently to increase consumption of canned beans and the demand for industrial processing of beans in both the domestic market and future product exports.

In today's scenario of accelerated globalization, an outstanding case is that of Brazil's sugar and alcohol sector which, quite deregulated, has received considerable foreign investment motivated by the large global demand for ethanol as a source of fuel and by the competitive quality of the domestic product. It is important to underline that even when this sector shows good prospects, these enterprises should have a consistent strategy to enter the world markets with a solid internationalization plan. By using the Case Study Methodology at Brenco, the Brazilian Renewable Energy Company, this paper sought to outline the organization chart of this entity, regarded as an international project, with the aim of identifying the existence of an advanced innovative business model within this sector, characterized by large groups of local enterprises, directed toward the domestic market. Among the main results obtained it is notable that the organization chart is in line with the goal of being a global enterprise and with the target of becoming, by 2015, one of the sector's five largest enterprises.

The article outlines the basic principles of Russian foreign policy and traces their implementation in the context of the strategic partnership between Russia and Serbia. In 2020, the world celebrates related jubilees, the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Second World War and the establishment of the UN. Russia, as one of the principal architects of the World Organization, advocates the strengthening of the UN central role in international affairs and fostering a polycentric and fair world order based on the rule of international law, primarily the UN Charter. Harmonization of integration processes in various parts of the world is essential. To that end, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin introduced the initiative of the Greater Eurasian Partnership. Conscious of its special responsibility for maintaining peace and security, Russia is committed to promoting political and diplomatic settlement of crises and working with all interested countries in order to build a global common space of equal and indivisible security and strategic stability. Russia aims at further dynamic development of mutually beneficial cooperation with Serbia across a wide range of fields. A trust-based high-level political dialogue plays the decisive role. Russian stance on the Kosovo settlement remains unchanged and is based on UN SC Resolution 1244.

Emulsion sausages are one of the most popular meat product groups in the world because of their delicious taste, nutritional value, and firm and elastic texture, which is very favourable. In Vietnam, the emulsion sausage product line currently occupies the most popular market share in the meat product group and is mainly produced by big companies such as Duc Viet, CP, Dabaco, Mavin, etc. The quality of this product is determined by many factors. Therefore, this study investigated the effect of whey protein supplementation on the quality of sausage emulsion to improve the structure, color, and stability, and provided suitable technology parameters (heating mode and store condition).

Functional foods in the European Union — the concept, requirements and development of marketsThe interest of consumers in maintaining good health and the development of technology increase the importance of functional foods in the food markets. The functional foods themselves have a beneficial effect on health over nutritional value. It is not explicitly defined for the variety of food products included in this category.Undoubtedly the so-called health trend in societies afflicted with civilization diseases e.g. obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer has changed the consumer’s attitude towards food. The knowledge about the relationship between quality of food consumption and quality of life, especially a state of health of people was increased. The answer to these trends is the growing number of functional foods that are provided by entrepreneurs. There is also a growing consumption of such food in the world and European countries.
