AbstractIn patients with chronic renal failure, hemodialysis therapy is needed to replace kidney function by removing nitrogenous substances and toxins in the blood and excessive water. Appropriate management of patients with chronic kidney failure in addition to preventing complications is expected to increase the client's life expectancy. In patients with chronic kidney failure, quality of life also reflects the quality of treatment because it involves physical, psychological, and social processes to be achieved. A good quality of life is needed by hemodialysis patients to prevent the disease from getting worse. This literature review aims to describe the quality of life hemodialysis patients. This study accesses an online database with electronic searches on Pubmed, Portal garuda and Proquest. The search was conducted by combining the keywords “quality of life, chronic kidney disease, hemodialysis” and articles published in the period 2012-2021. Instrumen for the literature review using Strobe instrument. The results of the literature review show that the quality of life score on the physical health dimension is low while on the psychological and environmental dimensions the quality of life score is high. . It is hoped that this study can be a reference for nurses in providing holistic nursing care to patients undergoing hemodialysis so that their quality of lifecan improve. This research is then needed as a data base for the development of other researchers. Keywords: Chronic renal failure; hemodialysis; quality of life AbstrakGagal ginjal kronik disebabkan karena disfungsi ginjal yang bersifat menahun, progresif, irreversible yang memerlukan terapi hemodialisa, pengaturan pola makan dan akses cairan yang masuk. Pada pasien gagal ginjal kronik terapi hemodialisa diperlukan untuk mengganti fungsi ginjal mengeluarkan zat-zat nitrogen dan racun dalam darah dan air yang berlebihan. Background: Chronic kidney failure is a state of progressive, irreversible destruction of kidney structure that requires permanent kidney replacement therapy. Global prevalence is 11.7% -15.1%. Chronic disease conditions and prolonged treatment can affect the patient's mental health and quality of life. The process by which a person attains physical and mental readiness in dealing with stressful situations is called coping. Quality of life is an individual's perception of their position in life. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between coping mechanisms and quality of life in patients with chronic renal failure undergoing hemodialysis. Method: This research was analytical correlative with cross sectional research design. Sampling with consecutive sampling technique and obtained as many as 35 respondents. The criteria for patients in this study were patients diagnosed with chronic renal failure and undergoing hemodialysis with an age limit of 18 - 65 years, compos mentis awareness status and willingness to become respondents. The study was conducted in November 2019- January 2020. Patient data were obtained through medical records and  questionnaires kidney disease quality of life short form (KDQOL-SF) and a brief cope scale. Results: The results of statistical tests obtained p value = 0.007 and r = 0.413 (p <0.05; r> 0.05). These results indicate that there is a relationship between coping mechanisms and quality of life in patients with chronic renal failure undergoing hemodialysis. More male respondents than women with 56-65 years age group, the highest education status is college; working as a civil servant, long undergoing HD 1-12 months. Based on statistical analysis it is known that the coping mechanism of poor respondents (57.1%), poor quality of life (54.3%). Conclusion: There was significant relationship between coping mechanisms with the quality of life of patients with chronic renal failure undergoing hemodialysis with moderate correlation strength and positive direction.

ObjectiveThe interest of our work is to identify the objective parameters that can improve the subjective parameters of the well-being of the patients and to share the experience of the care in our center. Kt / V urea and KDQOL SF 36 scale (Kidney Disease Quality of Life short form 36)were used. Material and methodsThis is a single-center cross-sectional study conducted in October 2018 among patients treated with peritoneal dialysis, followed for at least six months in the Nephrology Department of Fez University Hospital (Morocco). The quality of life was assessed using the SF-36 (short form) version of the Kidney Disease Quality of Life (KDQOL) scale in its validated Arabic dialect version (1). We used the KDQOL-SF36 results as quantitative variables related to obtaining a Kt / V> 1.7. ResultsThis study included 17 adult patients on peritoneal dialysis of which 35.3% are on automated peritoneal dialysis (APD) and 64.7% are on continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD). The mean age is 40.8 ± 5 years and the sex ratio is 9H / 8F. In bivariate analysis, we found a significant relationship between dialysis dose and social support. This result could be explained by better adherence in patients with better social support. ConclusionEfforts must be made to achieve the adequacy goals, without losing sight of patients’ quality of life. There is also a need for further studies that include more patients and study other parameters such as clinical evaluation, residual renal function and ultrafiltration.    .

Background Multiple sclerosis is a chronic disease leading to reduced quality of life. Objectives To investigate whether motor and cognitive fatigue impact differently on aspects of quality of life among patients with multiple sclerosis, independently from bodily disability. Methods 79 patients with multiple sclerosis from Aalborg University Hospital, Denmark were included in an observational, cross-sectional study. Each subject completed two separate questionnaires regarding fatigue (Fatigue Scale for Motor and Cognitive Functions and Modified Fatigue Impact Scale) and one regarding quality of life (Short Form 36). Disability was measured with the Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS)-scores obtained from patient records. Results All fatigue scores were significantly correlated to all areas of quality of life (p < 0,05). This remained significant after adjustment for age, disease duration and EDSS-score. When looking at each type of fatigue separately, cognitive fatigue correlated mainly with mental health aspects of quality of life and motor fatigue with physical health areas of quality of life. Conclusion Increased motor and cognitive fatigue lead to a differential reduction in physical and mental quality of life, independently of bodily disability. This underlines the importance of proper assessment and treatment of fatigue among patients with multiple sclerosis.
