<p>Non-completion among university students is a common phenomenon in many parts of the world. Many causes of this problem have been advanced and among them are institutional and individual reasons like financial ability, gender and motivation to complete studies. Psychological distress though not investigated thoroughly has been cited as one of the problems leading to non-completion. The study sought to establish the prevalence of non-completion among postgraduate students in selected public universities in Kenya. Weiner Attribution theory (1985) informed the study. The study adopted a correlation research design, and it was conducted in two selected public universities in Uasin Gishu and Nairobi counties targeting a population of 945 postgraduate students. A sample of (N=273) was obtained from the two selected public universities through systematic random sampling. The study used questionnaires, focus group discussions and document analysis in collecting data. Reliability of the questionnaire was established using Split half method from a pilot study conducted in Uasin Gishu County. Statistical package for the social sciences SPSS 23 was also used to analyse the data. Descriptive statistics to analyze demographic data while Pearson correlation was employed to test the relationship between psychological distress and non-completion. Regression analysis was used to clarify the nature of relationship with the variable. Findings indicated an average non-completion rate of 2.5 years with most students citing financial constraints as the primary cause of their non-completion. The study recommended that students who wished to further their studies should first establish a financial channel or safe for the education journey before they registered for their studies. This would ensure that they would avoid dropping out of school due to a lack of school fees. The study further recommended that students should choose a study model that would favour their schedules to ensure that they did not go through a lot of stress trying to accomplish several tasks simultaneously. </p><p> </p><p><strong> Article visualizations:</strong></p><p><img src="/-counters-/edu_01/0972/a.php" alt="Hit counter" /></p>

To explore the relationship between theory and practice in evaluation, we focus on the perspectives and experiences of student evaluators, as they move from the classroom to an engagement with the social, political, and cultural dynamics of evaluation in the field. Through reflective journals, postcourse interviews, and facilitated group discussions, we involve students in critical thinking around the relationship between evaluation theory and practice, which for many was unexpectedly tumultuous and contextually dynamic and complex. In our exploration, we are guided by the following questions: How do novice practitioners navigate between the world of the classroom and the world of practice? What informs their evaluation practice? More specifically, how can we understand the relationship between theory and practice in evaluation? A thematic analysis leads to three interconnected themes. We conclude with implications for thinking about the relationship between theory and practice in evaluation.

The professional development of a young researcher is mainly influenced by the organizational culture and the relationship with academic colleagues, especially mentors. This chapter presents the results of a qualitative study conducted on a sample of 16 researchers employed in three Slovenian public universities. The study examines the senior-junior researcher relationship, as the relationship between mentor and mentee, the nature of their cooperation, and how new knowledge is generated and transmitted. In-depth semi-structured interviews and content analysis for structuring qualitative data was used. The results indicate that the professional development of junior researchers is based mostly on their independent work where the mentor guidance is only occasional. Despite the development of information and communication technology, and in particular the Social Web tools, the mentorship in the framework of higher education institutions is still based on a face-to-face relationship.

IntroductionThe theory of social support can influence the overall broad range of social networks on people to create positive experiences that people bring, the experience can feel the predictability and stability in situations of life and enhance self-worth is effective.ObjectivesThis study reviews the relationship between social support and social support optimal interactions with general depression, lack of arousal and anxiety felt among the students was fun.MethodsThe study sample of 293 students are Tabatabai University.ResultsThe status of students in the social protection component interactions in daily emotional support, emotional support and protect significant issue oriented issue is above average and good social support in daily emotional support component, useful daily support and protection issue higher orbit are average. Pearson correlation results show that social support and favorable interactions with the general depression, anxiety and lack of arousal feel in 0 / 05 and 0 / 01 is significant and negative relationship with one another are significant. Regression analysis showed that the spatial step feel and lack of arousal component of anxiety in social support interactions to predict depression and components of general social support will predict the optimum.ConclusionsThe results of this study also shows that the highest correlation between social support and lack of interaction feel is the highest correlation between social support and depression in general is good.

Nowadays, education has become more complex than before. The need for knowledge, understanding, and passion among societies had caused an increase in education demand. To prepare a better and higher-level quality of education, the Ministry of Higher Education had played vital roles to enhance their services and efficiency levels. Nevertheless, the trend of budget allocation for operating expenditure in education sectors had shown a decline for the past three years, starting from the year 2016 until 2018 (Ministry of Higher Education, 2018). Since the budget allocation was cut off, public universities in Malaysia were encouraged to seek their own funds. One of the alternatives implemented by public universities was fund seeking through waqf collection. Through waqf, it assists public universities to support their needs especially for financial sustainability in the future. Respondents totaling 398 people comprising of various societies in Ipoh, Perak participated in this survey. A simple random sampling technique was employed to measure the social culture, understanding, awareness level, religiosity, marketing methods and willingness to contribute to Waqf education. Pearson correlation was used to measure the relationship between the variables. The results indicated insignificant relationships between awareness and willingness to contribute to waqf education. Furthermore, the findings also explained that the social culture, understanding, religiosity, and marketing methods are the significant determinants in influencing the willingness to contribute to Waqf education. The findings from this study could benefit the Ministry of Higher Education itself, relevant government agencies and policymakers to promote Waqf as an alternative to generating income for education sectors in Malaysia.

Background and Study Aim. The study aimed to know the level of social responsibility and job performance among the physical education professors and examine the relationship between the social responsibility and the job performance. Material and Methods. The participants were 29 physical educations professors (male) from Institute of Physical Education and Sport University of Ouargla. The social responsibility and the job performance scales were used as search tools. Data analyses were carried out by means of statistical packet for social sciences (SPSS) 26.00 software program. The Mean, Std. Deviation and Pearson Correlation were used in the main study. In addition, alpha-Cronbach was used in the exploratory study Results. The level of social responsibility and job performance is high among physical education professors, and there is a positive correlation between social responsibility and job performance. Conclusions. Given the importance of the role of social responsibility and job performance and the lack of enough studies in this specialization, it is necessary to conduct more additional studies that would serve knowledge in this specialization.

<p><b>Risk is a dominant discourse in current formations of Western society. This thesisexamines how risk is expressed in New Zealand midwifery by investigating bothmidwives’ actions and midwives’ attitudes. Risk is a complex concept and theoreticalapproaches to it come from a variety of perspectives. The techno rational approachstresses the quantifiable and probabilistic nature of risk; the social and culturalapproaches are varied and stress the cultural embeddedness and valueladennature ofrisk and its expression. Midwives must deal with risk from multiple and sometimesconflicting perspectives.</b></p> <p>The philosophical approach of critical realism, which proposes that knowledge shouldbe explored through multiple lenses and that knowledge is both fallible andemancipatory, provides the ontological and methodological support for the study. Anational survey of midwives’ practices and attitudes was undertaken in 2001,followed by six focus group discussions with midwives in a variety of settings.</p> <p>The findings of the research reveal that midwives are both constrained by and act inresistance to risk. A model of midwifery is developed which illustrates the findings.</p> <p>The model is a threeleggedbirth stool, a birth stool for the midwife to sit on, ratherthan for the mother. The seat of the stool is called ‘being with women’. This conceptis central for New Zealand midwives, as they do not exclude women with risk factorsfrom their care. They continue to provide care when risk is identified and whenobstetricians need to be involved. The relationship they have with women is pivotal.</p> <p>The legs of the birth stool, which help give support to ‘being with women’, are:‘being a professional’, ‘working the system’ and ‘working with complexity’. Thestruts of the stool are ‘storytelling’, which help to keep the stool secure and stable.</p> <p>Midwives can use the stool as a tool to reflect on practice and to keep them connectedto women. The stool can assist them in putting risk and its management into actionand into perspective. Educators can use the stool to develop integrated and competentnew midwives; managers can use it to provide systems that support the midwife;researchers can attend to areas of the birth stool that are less well understood.</p>

Recently, Internet of Things (IoT) applications are distributing into many areas, such as industry and agriculture. This article presents the embedded wireless Dissolved Oxygen (DO) monitoring system based on IoT platforms. The module contains two types of data sensing, which are water temperature and DO sensors. Both devices are embedded with a wireless IoT module using NodeMCU-ESP8266, an integration WiFi-Microcontroller on a single board. The proposed IoT-DO monitoring system detects information data from the aquaculture pond environment. Namely, the parameters studied are water temperature and DO values. The cloud internet network collects and stores the experimental data and link to the users. The relationship between both parameters is analyzed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences based Pearson correlation coefficient theory. The findings found that the water temperature and DO values are negatively related, with a statistically significant .05. Water temperature is the principal affection to other parameters of water. In this work, the DO value is studied to relate the water temperature. It was found that when the water temperature increases, the DO decreases accordingly and vice versa.

  The aim of this study was to determine the level of irrational thoughts and emotional stability among the elderly in Governorate of Jericho, as well as the relationship between them based on gender, economic level, accommodation type, and educational level. The descriptive-analytical approach, the irrational thoughts scale, and the emotional stability scale were employed to achieve these objectives. The sample included (300) elderly people, males and females, who were chosen randomly from the elderly attending the social development centers and Grandparents’ House in Jericho. Cronbach Alpha, Pearson Correlation coefficient, t- test, one-way ANOVA were calculated using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). The results of this study revealed that the elderly in Jericho Governorate have a moderate degree of both irrational thoughts and of emotional stability. The results also demonstrated an inverse statistically significant relationship between irrational thoughts and emotional stability among the elderly. The results also showed no differences in the level of irrational thoughts among the elderly in the Jericho governorate due to the variables of gender or economic level. It was found that there were differences in the level of irrational thoughts due to accommodation type and educational level. The results showed that there were no differences in the level of emotional stability among the elderly based on gender, economic level, or accommodation type, while there are statistically significant differences in the level of emotional stability attributed to the educational level.

Evidence indicates that beliefs such as fortune and misfortune or how getting daily bread are typical theological fatalism in terms of Iranian religion and Islamic culture. On the one hand, although it seems that economic problems are the main factor associated with the fatalism in fatalistic nations, studies illustrate that Iranian society have suffered from mistrust, lack of social participation, knowledge and so on. Moreover, cultural crises have been embedded with their daily life nowadays. Consequently, the question is raised in the mind of the author that the fatalism might have a complicated relationship towards economic, social and cultural capital since the mistrust reduces participation and then the wheel of economic will be stopped. As a result, socio-economic and cultural capitals could have influence on the fatalism. The aim of this study is to investigate the fatalism of citizens in Isfahan according to the benefit of economic, cultural and social capitals. The theories of Marx’s alienation and Durkheim’s excessive discipline are used to study the fatalism. On the other hand, Bourdieu's perspective is used for studying the economic and cultural capitals as well as evaluating the social class and the lifestyle. The survey research has been conducted on the 300 residents of the city. A cluster sampling method is used in this study. The questionnaire is used as a data collection instrument and the Pearson Correlation Coefficient; t-test and ANOVA are used for the data analysis. Finally, it can be concluded that education, economic and cultural capitals and the lifestyle can influence on the fatalism more than other variables.
