scholarly journals The Estimation of Newly Infected Cases of Covid-19 with Consideration of Governmental Action and Behavior of People in Iran

The Novel severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has caused 414179 infected cases and 18440 deaths up to March 25, 2020. The aim of this study was to estimate the new cases of COVID-19 in future days in Iran based on multiple factors such as governmental actions and peoplechr('39')s behavior. We constructed the model based on governmental actions, peoplechr('39')s behavior and lag time for governmental action. We estimated the governmental actions ratio and people’s behavior with minimum sum square error with OptQuest arena software. By estimation the new cases under three scenarios for governmental actions, we predicted the new cases and cumulative death for different genders for all scenarios. Based on the first scenario, the maximum number of newly infected cases was 3117. Total cumulative death for 110th day for males and females respectively was 3157 and 2285. According to the second scenario, the maximum number of newly infected cases was 3117. Total cumulative death for 151st day for males and females respectively was 3504 and 2536. By selecting the third scenario, there were two peak points. In the first peak point, the maximum number of newly infected cases was 3117. In the second peak, the maximum number of newly infected cases was 3190. Based on the result of this study, it seems that the best option for the government is to keep social distance and close economic activity, so the number of new cases will be decreased.

This article seeks to reflect on pandemic COVID-19 and its diverse affect(abilities) in the context of India. After the outbreak of the novel coronavirus in India, the government resorted to a number of restrictive measures including quarantine, lockdown, self-isolation, and self-monitoring in order to contain the rapid spread of the new virus. This article argues that the pandemic has rendered “historical ruptures” to the world at large, and seeks to examine how it has affected the ‘usual’ ways of living of marginalised people in India, including how migrant labourers have had to strive to come to terms with the dreadful consequences of the pandemic. Furthermore, this article puts into focus how certain governmental measures are brought into effect to check the affect(abilities) of COVID-19. In order to elaborate on these affect(abilities) certain critical philosophical standpoints are drawn. In the opening section, bio-philosophical nuances of illness are expounded. These are followed, in the second section, by a discussion of neuroeconomical aspects of these affect(abilities). In the third section, theoretical notions of potentiality, singularity, and transpolitical becomings are examined through Continental philosophies. Finally, particularities of the Indian context are critically elucidated in the context of affect(abilities) of pandemic COVID-19.

Abstract Background: With the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak worldwide, many people were advised to maintain specific precautionary measures for not catching the disease. The objectives of this study were to assess the perception, anxiety and behavior change of a population in Bangladesh during the COVID-19 outbreak. Methods: A total of 6400 individuals comprised the population of this study. Subjects were respondents to an online questionnaire that was administered through social media. The questionnaire included items on personal information; nine items about participants' recent behaviors’, 42 items were used to assess how people perceived coronavirus outbreaks. Six out of the 42 items assessed whether participants believed certain actions can reduce their risk of catching corona virus. Anxiety was assessed using a six-item version of the list of valid state-specific concerns [The State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI)] scale. Data were collected and analyzed by regression analyses on a SPSS program. Results: 60% of participants (n= 3840) reported performing change any avoidance behavior (social event or crowd place, mass transport, go to shop). 64% (n=4096) had carried out any change of any recommended behavior (using mask and tissue, disinfecting used things, washing hands, maintaining social distance, maintaining isolation). 0.3% (n=1920) scored 18 or more on the anxiety scale, suggesting high anxiety. The strongest predictor of behavior change (recommended and avoidance) was "having a chronic illness’’. Participants who had carried out one or more recommended behaviors’ had significantly higher levels of "trust in government” odds ratio: 2.33, 95% CI: 2.07-2.61. Similarly, participants who had carried out one or more avoidance behaviors also had significantly higher levels of "trust in government" (1.90, 1.72-2.10). Conclusion: If the government and health care workers become aware of such findings, measures and policies can be taken to alleviate the resultant sufferings.

The Norwegian novelist Kunut Hamsun published his novel Hunger in 1921. The novel was translated into English by George Egerton. In this novel, Hamsun introduces the character of Andereas Tangen, a journalist who has a good life but starts to lose his living, and his essays begin to be refused. He becomes unemployed and suffers poverty, hunger, and homelessness for some time. By the end of the novel, he finds a job on a ship that is sailing from his town Christiania to fetch coal. During the 1930s the Egyptian novelist and short story writer Nageeb Mahfouz wrote his collection of short stories (Hams Eel- Gnoon) The Whisper of Madness. Among this collection, he published his short story (Al- Goo) The Hunger.  In this short story, the main character, Ibrahim Hanafy has been working in a factory until he cuts his arm in an accident and loses his job. He becomes unemployed and he, with his family, suffers hunger and many social and psychological difficulties. He hates his life, tries to commit suicide but is saved coincidently by the son of the factory's owner. The man promises Ibrahim to find him a job. This paper aims to show that the unemployed main character in Hamsun's and Mahfouz's works is unable either to love a partner or to have a friend and if he is married, he is unable to keep his marriage relation. Another aim of the paper is to shed light on the negative relations of the unemployed character on one side with his god and with the government of his country on the other side. The third aim of the paper is to emphasize that unemployment, in Hamsun's and Mahfouz's works, leads the once good character to try to commit suicide. Thus the paper comes into three parts: the first part deals with Tangen’s failure to have a love relation or enjoy a friendship. This part also tackles Hanafy’s disability to protect his love for his wife. The second part introduces Tangen’s criticism of his god and of the government in his country. In the third part, the paper discusses the once good characters, becoming unemployed, thinking of death as a solution, and may try to commit suicide. The paper depends on the theory of needs' priority and the method of social and psychological analysis in tackling its topic.

Critics have argued that Elizabeth Gaskell's first novel, Mary Barton (1848), is split by a conflict between the modes of realism and romance. But the conflict does not render the novel incoherent, because Gaskell surpasses both modes through a utopian narrative that breaks with the conflict of form and gives coherence to the whole novel. Gaskell not only depicts what Thomas Carlyle called the ‘Condition of England’ in her work but also develops, through three stages, the utopia that will redeem this condition. The first stage is romantic nostalgia, a backward glance at Eden from the countryside surrounding Manchester. The second stage occurs in Manchester, as Gaskell mixes romance with a realistic mode, tracing a utopian drive toward death. The third stage is the utopian break with romantic and realistic accounts of the Condition of England and with the inadequate preceding conceptions of utopia. This third stage transforms narrative modes and figures a new mode of production.

In order for humans could reach the so-called falah (goodness), human behavior needs to be colored with the spirit and norms of Islamic economics reflected in its values. The principles and values of Islamic economics are considerably two inseparable things. The implementation of economic principles without being colored with values or values without being based on principles could keep people far away from their purpose, namely falah. The implementation of values not based on principles will tend to bring with it the normative economics, which would cause it trapped into injustice. While the implementation of values on the Islamic economic development is based on the five universal values, namely akidah (belief), 'adl (justice), nubuwwah (prophetic), khilafah (the government), and ma'ad (results). The five principles are used as the basis for building theories of Islamic economics. But strong and adequate theories not applied into a system will make the Islamic economics just as the study of science without giving positive impact on the economic life. Therefore, based on the five universal values, the three derivative principles should be built into the characteristics and the forerunner of the Islamic economic system. The Islamic economic system makes sure that there are no economic transactions that are contrary to the Shari'a. But business performance depends on the man behind the gun. For that reason, the economic actors within this framework could be held by non-Muslims. The Islamic economics could only be developed if the mindset and behavior of Muslims are already itqan (diligent) and ihsan (professional). It "may be" one of the secrets of the Prophet's statement, saying "Truly I was sent to perfect good character". Because good character could be an indicator of knowing good or bad behavior in determining both the success and the failure of business itself.

The concept of Green (environmental) Accounting (Kusumaningtias, 2013; Ratnaningsih et al., 2004; Suparmoko, 2005; Susilo, 2008) namely Environmental Accounting has actually begun to develop since the 1970s in Europe. However, until the mid 1990s, the concept of Environmental Accounting was not much spread. Based on the Constitution of The Republic of Indonesia Number 32 year 2009 concerning Protection and Management of the Environment, Environment is the unity of space with all objects, power, circumstances, and living things, including humans and behavior, which affect nature itself, sustainability and humans and other living things welfare. The focus of this study lies in the application of Environmental Accounting at Siti Aisyah Hospital in Lubuklinggau, based on Government Accounting Standards (SAP) Number 71 year 2010 on Waste Management (Government Accounting, 2011). The problem in this study is to find out whether the application of Environmental Accounting at Siti Aisyah Hospital is in accordance with the Government Standards. The results of this study have shown that Siti Aisyah Hospital in Lubuklinggau has implemented environmental cost accounting. These environmental costs are included in maintenance costs, but the hospital has not presented a specific report on Environmental Accounting in more detail. This hospital has carried out the process of identifying, measuring, recording, presenting, and also disclosing as already explained in Government Accounting Standards No. 71 year 2010, namely presenting environmental costs by including components of environmental costs on general and administrative costs. This hospital has also managed its waste properly and has also incurred environmental costs.
