This study aims to describe the feelings of the characters in the novel Juang Notes by Fiersa Bersari and researchers analyze using personality theory originated by Ludwig Klages by focusing his study on the personality structure of feelings. Feeling is a process of someone accepting or rejecting something in life. This study uses a qualitative approach by using library techniques to obtain data that will produce a description of the words or sentences in the observed study. In the analysis of this research using the hermeutics technique, in the hermeutics technique there are several stages, namely reading the research object in this study in the form of a fighting journal, the second gives a mark on the data that has been obtained from the reading results, the third provides code or coding on the data that has been found, and the fourth is to analyze data that has been obtained from the object of research in accordance with the specified research focus. Novel Notes Juang by Fiersa Besari is a novel that can be used as an inspiration for readers in living life. Based on the results of the study it was found that in the Fighting Notes novel there is a feeling that is divided into inner activities and the level of clarity, inner activities in the novel in the form of fear and guilt while viewed from the level of clarity in the form of happiness, sadness and longing.

This final project is a study which analyzes translation techniques used in the translation of novel I am Number Four by Pittacus Lore. The translation techniques introduced by Molina and Albir (2002) is the theory I use in this study. The object of the study is to explain the techniques used by the translator in translating I am Number Four. This research is classified into descriptive research. It is the study in which I need to collect and analyze data to get conclusion. However, I also find out that it is essential to combine the qualitative approach with the quantitative one. The data are gained by reading novel, comparing the novel, identifying, classifying, counting, and conclusion. The result of the study shows that there are 12 techniques found in the data. They are, namely, adaptation, amplification, borrowing, calque, discursive creation, established equivalent, generalization, linguistic compression, literal, particularization, reduction, and transposition. The total data are 671 direct speeches of I am Number Four. The total techniques of the data found are 671. The percentage of each techniques are as follows: (1) borrowing occurs 132 times and represents 19.7%, (2) literal occurs 119 times and represents 17.73%, (3) generalization occurs 97 times and represents 14.46%, (4) established equivalent occurs 94 times and represents 14.01%, (5) amplification occurs 76 times and represents 11.3%, (6) particularization occurs 52 times and represents 7.75%, (7) linguistic compression occurs 43 times and represents 6.41%, (8) reduction occurs 35 times and represents 5.22%, (9) transposition occurs 12 times and represents 1.79%, (10) adaptation occurs 5 times and represents 0.74%, (11) calque occurs 3 data and represents 0.45%, (12) discursive creation occurs 3 times and represents 0.45%. Finally, the conclusions above lead me to provide the following suggestions. First, for translator: it is important to explore different translation techniques to make the translated text clear and try to give an explanation such as footnote in the novel in order to make the reader understand the text. Second, for further researcher: A further research can give knowledge that can be beneficial for the readers and can be the next related research to be reviewed. This study aims to describe the temperament of characters in the Fighting Notes novel by using Ludwig Klages's personality theory. The focus of this research is on the temperament of the characters contained in the Note Juang by Fiersa Besari. Tempramen is a trait that a person has in him when he will do something, Klages divides the temprament into two parts, namely sangraminis tempraments and pleghmatic tempraments. This study uses descriptive qualitative research methods which means a research method that does not use numbers or calculations, this qualitative approach is used with the aim of producing word form descriptions from research that has been observed, in addition this study uses library techniques to get data on research observed. Data analysis in this study used hermeutic analysis with several stages, namely reading objects, marking data found on objects, coding data and analyzing all data with Ludwig Klages's personality theory. The results of this research in the Notes Fighting can be concluded that there are sangunis and pleghmatis tempraments but are inclined to sangunis tempraments that are experienced by many Suar figures.

The purpose of this research is to explain and describe the form of id, ego, and superego in the main character in the Mata di Tanah Melus novel by Okky Madasari. The method used in this study was a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The data source in this study was a document in the form of Mata di Tanah Melus novel by Okky Madasari, which was published by Gramedia Pustaka in 2018. The data used in this study were dialogues in the novel. The data analysis technique used in this study was the analysis of documents to find the form of id, ego, and superego in the novel. The results of this study indicate that there were forms of id, ego, and superego in Okky Madasari's Mata di Tanah Melus novel which were reflected by the main character. The forms of id, ego, and superego were found based on Sigmund Freud's personality theory. Through the form of id, ego, and superego, it can be seen how the personality of the main character in the Mata di Tanah Melus novel by Okky Madasari.

Kehidupan di dunia tidak lepas dari suatu masalah, setiap masalah menjadikan seseorang memilih jalan yang terbaik untuk penyelesaian masalahnya. Misalnya dengan cara mempertimbangkanterlebih dahulu, untuk menghindari kecemasan diri dari permasalah yang sedang terjadi, penyelesaian tersebut dilakukan dengan cara yang berbeda-beda. Salah satu contoh yang dilakukan oleh tokoh utama dalam novel tersebut yang menitikberatkan pada pertahanan diri atau ego seorang perempuan dalam mempertahankan dirinya untuk memperoleh kehidupan yang lebih baik. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan struktur kepribadian dan mekanisme pertahanan diri untuk penyelesaian masalah yang dialami oleh tokoh utama yaitu Matsumi.Pendekatan yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kualitatif, dengan jenis deskriptif analisis.Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu metode psikologi sastra yang berfokus pada mendriskripsikan kondisi psikologis tokoh utama dalam novel tersebut.Data dalam penelitian ini adalah teks yang terdapat dalam novel dengan sumber datanya novel Perempauan Kembang Jepun karya Lan Fang.Pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu dengan menggunakan teknik baca-catat. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa setiap masalah di dalam kehidupan seseorang dapat terselesaikan dengan cara yang bermacam-macam, seperti yang terjadi pada tokoh utama dalam novel diakibatkan karena adanya gejola dalam diri yang berupa kebutuhan seperti id, ego dan superego atau yang disebut struktur kepribadian. Tidak hanya dengan struktur kepribadian untuk menyelesaikan masalah dapat diseimbangi dengan cara mekanisme pertahanan dan konflik yang berupa represi, sublimasi, proyeksi, pengalihan, rasionalisasi, regresi, agresi, apatis, fantasi dan stereotype untuk menyelesaikan masalah yang sedang dialami serta mencari jalan keluar yang baik. Bahwa setiap masalah di dalam hidup seseorang dapat terselesaikan dengan cara yang bermacam-macam seperti mempertahankan diri dari ancaman-anacam yang berbahaya terhadap hidupnya dan menghilangkan rasa kecemasan untuk memutuskan suatu masalah yang terjadi guna mencapai hasil yang lebih baik dan sempurna. Dengan demikian, hasil penelitian ini dapat dijadikan salah satu bahan perbandingan, pertimbangan yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai penyelesaian masalah dan pengambilan keputusan secara tetap tanpa adanya penyesalan dalam mengahadapi kehidupan sehari-hari. Life in the world can not be separated from a problem, every problem makes people to choose the best way to solve it by considering to avoid anxiety of the problems that are happening, the settlement is done in different ways. Thus one of the main characters in Lan Fang's Perempuan Kembang Jepun novel which focuses on the self-defense or ego of a woman in defending herself. This study aims to describe the structure of personality and self-defense to solve the problems experienced by the main character Matsumi in novel Perempuan Kembang Jepun by Lan Fang. The approach taken in this research is qualitative approach, that is approach which does not give priority to the numbers, but prioritizing appreciation to interaction between concept which is being studied empirically, with type of descriptive analysis. The research method used is the method of literary psychology that focuses on describing the psychological condition of the main character in the novel. The data in this research is the text contained in Perempuan Kembang Jepun novel with the source of data Perempuan Kembang Jepun by Lan Fang. Data collection used in this research that is by using technique of read-record. The results of this study found self-defense on the main character in the novel Perempuan Kembang Jepun by Lan Fang caused by the existence of flaming in herself in the form of needs such as id, ego and superego or so-called personality structure. There are several ways to overcome self-defense such as repression, supplimation, projection, diversion, rationalization, regression, aggression, apathy, fantasy and stereotypes to solve problems that are being experienced and seek solutions. That every problem in someone's life can be resolved in many ways as to defend themself against the dangerous threats to their life and to eliminate the ever-present anxiety in every action we take to decide a problem to achieve the better and perfect results. Thus, the results of this study can be used as one material comparison, considerations that can be utilized as problem solving and decision making regularly without any regret in facing everyday life.

Abstract: In a few years, the world of cinema could not be separated from literary works. There are many literary works, one of them is a novel that was used as inspiration to produce a movie. Novels that have high popularity and selling power are able to attract producers to adapt novels into movie form. This research focus is to describe the ecranization of the novel into Cinta Laki-Laki Biasa movie, which includes (1) plot ecranization, (2) figure ecranization, and (3) setting ecranization. The approach used in this research is a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. The main instrument in this research is the researcher herself. The data sources of this research are the Cinta Laki-Laki Biasa novel by Asma Nadia and the Cinta Laki-Laki Biasa movie by Guntur Soehardjanto. The data collecting techniques are reading, watching, and recording the data contained in the novels and movies of Cinta Laki-Laki Biasa. The data analysis result of this research shows there is a novel ecranization process to the Cinta Laki-Laki Biasa movie, which includes adding, shrinking, and changing various. This is deliberately done to fit the needs of the movie. There are 3  plot shrinkage changes, 22 plot additions, and 8 plot varied changes. Then, there are 3 figures shrinkage changed, 11 figures added, and 2 figure varied changes. In addition to plot and figure, there are 2 setting shrinkage changes, 10 setting additions, and one setting varied changes Keywords: ecranization, novel, movie Abstrak: Dalam beberapa tahun, dunia perfilman tidak lepas dari karya sastra. Banyak karya sastra, salah satunya novel dijadikan inspirasi untuk memproduksi sebuah film. Novel-novel yang mempunyai popularitas serta tingkat penjualan tinggi yang mampu menjadi daya tarik para produser untuk mengadaptasi novel ke dalam bentuk film. Fokus penelitian ini adalah melakukan pendeskripsian ekranisasi novel ke dalam film Cinta Laki-Laki Biasa, yang meliputi (1) ekranisasi alur, (2) ekranisasi tokoh, dan (3) ekranisasi latar. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Instrumen utama dalam penelitian ini adalah peneliti sendiri. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah novel Cinta Laki-Laki Biasa karya Asma Nadia dan film Cinta Laki-Laki Biasa karya Guntur Soehardjanto. Teknik pengumpulan data adalah membaca, menonton, dan mencatat data-data yang terdapat pada novel dan film Cinta Laki-Laki Biasa. Hasil analisis data penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya proses ekranisasi novel ke film Cinta Laki-Laki Biasa yang mencakup penambahan, penciutan, dan perubahan bervariasi. Hal tersebut sengaja dilakukan untuk menyesuaikan kebutuhan dalam film. Terdapat 11 penciutan alur, 22 penambahan alur, dan 8 perubahan bervariasi. Selanjutnya, terdapat 3 penciutan tokoh, 11 penambahan tokoh, dan 2 perubahan bervariasi tokoh. Selain alur dan tokoh, terdapat 2 penciutan latar, 10 penambahan latar, dan 1 perubahan bervariasi. Abstract This study aims to describe the character and characterization, plot, background, style of language, the point of view, theme and the mandate of Tere Liye's novel of  Bidadari-Bidadari Surga. The method in this study is the content analysis of qualitative approach. Based on data analysis, the following results are summarized as follows: 1) The main character in Tere Liye's  Novel of Bidadari-Bidadari Surga is Laisa, additional characters are Mamak, Babak, Dalimunte, Ikanuri, Wibisana, Yashinta. 2) The mixed flow, covering the situation Mother  send Message to his children about the condition of the sickly Laisa, her mother sent to her children who message to he who received the first Message that Dalimunte, Ikanuri, Wibisana, and Yashintaberanjak adult, childhood continue to haunt them, climax that is Kak Laisa not yet married must pass by Dalimunte and his siblings. Dalimunte finally married after being forced by Kak Laisa. 3) The background consists of three sections, a backdrop of thirty-one backgrounds, a twenty-seven background setting, and a social setting that is a disgrace in the Lahambay Valley if an unmarried girl over the age of twenty. 4) The Language Style is the style of comparison, contradiction, and affirmation. 5) The third person's perspective "he" is omniscient and the point of view of "I" extra figure 6) The theme is the sincere sacrifice of a brother for the future of his younger brothers. 7) The mandate of this life must be lived with sincerity and full of gratitude for all that God has given. Tujuan Penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan kajian psikoanalisis tokoh utama  novel “Seputih Hati yang Tercabik” karya Ratu Wardarita dengan teori Sigmund Freud sebagai pisau bedahnya untuk menganalisis kepribadian dan pertahanan tokoh utama pemeran utama dalam novel.  Peneliti menggunakan metode deskriptif analitis  dengan pendekatan kualitatif.  Sedangkan pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan tiga teknik, yaitu baca, catat dan kepustakaan.  Kutipan berupa kata, frasa dan kalimat yang didapat dalam novel yang berfungsi memperkuat analisis data terkait teori Freud, selanjutnya dianalisis dengan prosedur (1) reduksi data, (2) penyajian data, dan (3) penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian ini mendapatkan bahwa struktur kepribadian menimbulkan pergumulan antara id, ego, dan superego.   Sedangkan mekanisme pertahanan konflik menghasilkan efek represi, rasionalisasi, regresi, reaction formulation, perasaan trauma, dan intelektual. The purpose of this study is to describe the psychoanalytic study of the main character of the novel "Seputih Hati Tercabik" by Ratu Wardarita with Sigmund Freud's theory as the scalpel to analyze the personality and defense of the main character in the novel. Researchers used descriptive analytical methods with a qualitative approach. Meanwhile, data collection was carried out using three techniques, namely reading, taking notes and literature. Quotations in the form of words, phrases and sentences obtained in the novel serve to strengthen data analysis related to Freud's theory, then analyzed by procedures (1) data reduction, (2) data presentation, and (3) drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicate that the personality structure causes a struggle between the id, ego, and superego. Meanwhile, conflict defense mechanisms produce effects of repression, rationalization, regression, reaction formulation, feelings of trauma, and intellectuality.

The research aims to uncover the symbols in the novel The Alchemist and to gain knowledge about the moral teachings in the symbol. This research is descriptive qualitative approach. Data sources in this study are words, phrases or sentences in the novel Alchemist. Data collection method is a literature study method with note taking technique. Data were analyzed using description and content analysis methods. The results showed that the novel The Alchemist contained many symbols. These symbols include: (1) wise parents, who symbolize both negative and positive things. From his appearance, parents can symbolize something bad, but behind his old age he symbolizes a knowledge that is very much and wise; (2) stones that symbolize something hard, not easily broken, and can provide clues to something; and (3) deserts or deserts which can be interpreted as symbols of drought, aridity, unattractiveness, emptiness, despair, determination for ignorance, and also as symbols of devotion.

Critics have argued that Elizabeth Gaskell's first novel, Mary Barton (1848), is split by a conflict between the modes of realism and romance. But the conflict does not render the novel incoherent, because Gaskell surpasses both modes through a utopian narrative that breaks with the conflict of form and gives coherence to the whole novel. Gaskell not only depicts what Thomas Carlyle called the ‘Condition of England’ in her work but also develops, through three stages, the utopia that will redeem this condition. The first stage is romantic nostalgia, a backward glance at Eden from the countryside surrounding Manchester. The second stage occurs in Manchester, as Gaskell mixes romance with a realistic mode, tracing a utopian drive toward death. The third stage is the utopian break with romantic and realistic accounts of the Condition of England and with the inadequate preceding conceptions of utopia. This third stage transforms narrative modes and figures a new mode of production.

AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh gambaran tentang sikap kebangsaananak muda Indonesia pada tiga novel populer yaitu Ali Topan Anak Jalanan karya TeguhEsha, Lupus: Makhluk Manis dalam Bis karya Hilman Hariwijaya, dan Balada Si Roy karya GolaGong. Alasan pemilihan objek penelitian di atas adalah karena ketiga novel tersebut memilikitingkat popularitas yang tinggi pada tiap zamannya sehingga membuat tokoh utamanyamenjadi representasi anak muda Indonesia pada zamannya masing-masing. Pertanyaanpertanyaanyang memandu tulisan ini adalah 1) Bagaimana keindonesiaan digambarkanpada ketiga novel tersebut dan 2) Bagaimana sikap kebangsaan direpresentasikan tokohanak muda pada ketiga novel tersebut. Dari hasil kajian didapatkan simpulan bahwasikap kebangsaan yang ditampilkan pada ketiga novel tersebut memiliki tingkatan yangberbeda-beda. Novel Ali Topan Anak Jalanan menunjukkan sikap kebangsaan dengan lebihkritis. Hegemoni orde Baru pada masa itu belum berhasil karena novel populer masihmenampilkan tokoh anak muda yang kritis dan cenderung memberontak terhadap nilainilaiideologi Orde Baru. Periode ’80-an menampilkan novel populer dengan tokoh anakmuda yang memiliki sikap kebangsaan yang terbelah. Pertama, anak muda yang dapatmenerima realitas yang dikontruksi Orde Baru, dengan menjalani sistem tersebut danmemposisikan dirinya sebagai bagian dari sistem tersebut. Hal itu direpresentasikan olehtokoh Lupus dalam novel Lupus: Makhluk Manis dalam Bis. Kedua, anak muda yang tidakdapat menerima realitas yang dikonstruksi Orde Baru, dengan cara keluar dari bagiansistem tersebut. The reason for choosing the object ofresearch above is that all three novels are recognized to have high levels of popularity in eachera so that made the main characters became a representation of Indonesian youth at that time.The questions that guide the writing are 1) How Indonesianness described in the third novel?2) How does nationalism represented by youth in these three novels. From the study results isobtained the conclusion that nationalism is displayed on the third novel has a level different.Ali Topan Anak Jalanan show a nationalism more critically. The New Order’s hegemony atthat time has not been successful because the novel still showing a critical youth and tends torevolt against the ideological values of the New Order. The ‘80s period featured a popular novelwith a youth character who had a split nationalism. First, the youth who can accept the realitythat the New Order has constructed, with the system and position itself as part of the system.It was represented by the Lupus’s character in the Lupus: Makhluk Manis dalam Bis. Second,the youth who can not accept the facts constructed by the New Order, by going out from thatpart of the system.
