Abstract: In this essay, a pedagogical proposal in physical education is presented aimed at promoting meaningful learning transferable to everyday life and greater social awareness, based on the integration of mindfulness as an onto-epistemological basis. For this, in the first part, the concept of mindfulness is analyzed from its essential nature according to the Buddhist perspective, which integrates its moral foundations and its political implications. Likewise, the use of mindfulness in the educational field is criticized as a mere technique, in order to, from there, defend the possibilities of its inclusion as an onto-epistemological essence of pedagogical action. In the second part, the principles of this proposal of physical education focused on the expansion of the unconditional consciousness of the human being are developed: a physical education oriented to personal and moral growth, which stimulates political participation and contributes to social transformation.

The implementation of pedagogical models (PMs) in the subject of Physical Education (PE) is presented as a pedagogical approach that is based on the educational context as a means to overcome the serious limitations that arise from traditional approaches. The effective implementation of this approach has demonstrated benefits in terms of student motivation, student involvement and improved learning. Thus, its application and international relevance, the variability of content covered, the possibility of replicability in a variety of contexts and the fact that it favors a reflective framework and common action by teachers are some of the reasons that justify its use. In this sense, the need for teacher training, as well as the intention to generate more scientific evidence based on its application in the classroom, are some of the key aspects to be taken into account for its implementation and consequent consolidation in the educational field.

Neoliberalism is a pervasive phenomenon. A fundamental neoliberal concept allows for the selection of the best and most suitable option available for a specific course of action in any aspect of society. Not unexpectedly, the educational field, including physical education (PE), has been influenced by neoliberal ideas. A key element of neoliberalism in PE is the selection of workers external to the school system, as a suitable option to improve the educational experience. The involvement of external workers increases the diversity of stakeholders in the school system, who, with their actions and decisions, have the potential to influence the content and status of PE in schools. The purpose of this study was to understand the external provision infrastructure supporting PE in an Irish primary school. Specifically, we used network ethnography to understand the structure and the impact of external provision on school PE. Participants included two primary school teachers, the school PE coordinator and one PE external provider. Data analysis resulted in two themes. The first theme refers to the structure of the external provider system, and the second to the dynamics of the network between the main stakeholders. Taken together, a well-established external provision network in the school is revealed but the structure of the network, as designed, is not supporting PE as intended by the Irish educational system.

Abstract: Virtual communities on internet are a current phenomenon. They are sources of research and access to social discourses. The present paper has the objective to analyze discourses in two virtual communities: «I love Physical Education» and «I hate Physical Education» on Orkut website. The emergence of these communities constitutes an element for reflection about the signifiers assigned to Physical Education classes at school and the tradition of these classes in Brazil. Bibliography and field research were the methodological procedures based on ethnography principles characterizing a mainly qualitative discussion. During the interviews with participants from both communities, it was able to realized that there are many complaints of badly succeeded classes by people who say «to love» Physical Education as by the ones who say «to hate» this subject at school.           The reason for that is the tradition of these classes in Brazil, which are mainly an exclusively biological view of the body and body practices. This tradition implies a pedagogical action by the teachers focused on standardizing the students and not considering their differences.Key words: Culture; Body Practices; Physical Education classes; Internet; School; Virtual communities.

The aesthetic analysis of everyday life has developed an important body of work whose significance extends beyond the academy. Because of its ubiquity in experience, aesthetic sensibility has many manifestations, both overt and concealed. This paper examines some largely hidden ways in which taste and aesthetic judgment, which are manifested in sense experience, have been subtly appropriated and exploited. I identify and describe such procedures as the cooptation (or appropriation) of aesthetic sensibility, a phenomenon that has consequences damaging to health, to society, and to environment. These practices are a form of negative aesthetics that distorts and manipulates sensible experience in the interest of mass marketing and political control. Such practices have great ethical significance and carry social and political implications that suggest another role for aesthetics, a critical one: aesthetics as an instrument of emancipation in social analysis and political criticism.

This article poses a reflection on the pedagogical practices developed during Physical Education classes in school. Intending to move beyond a diagnostic analysis of what concerns this area of knowledge in the school routine, this study aims to present this curricular component highlighted as bodily-kinesthetic intelligence. The change to a comprehensive view of the mind has unveiled human cognition and has enabled the identification of different cognitive forces with contrasting styles. Based on a narrative review, specific to this theme, focusing on pedagogical practices experienced in Physical Education classes, the guidelines on this subject, were analyzed. The main purpose of changing this mindset is to improve intelligence manifestations, by stimulating the individual’s innate potentials through opportunities. The considerations highlighted in this analysis allow us to reveal significant points for this area. In light of the principles of the Theory of Multiple Intelligences, this study portrays the importance in the choice of content that is representative of the reality of the receivers, developed through various learning pathways during Physical Education classes in school. The establishment of theoretical principles presented by Howard Gardner greatly contributed to the educational field, with emphasis on teaching through various approaches, allowing Physical Education to interpret the students’ performance with a focus on their potentials.
