Azyumardi Azra narrows the purpose and role of education into two parts, namely general goals and specific goals. According to Azyumardi Azra, the purpose of Islamic education is inseparable from the purpose of human life in Islam, namely to create personal servants of Allah who always fear Him, and can achieve a happy life in this world and in the hereafter. In the context of social-society, nation and state, this pious person becomes rahmatan lil 'alamin, both on a small and large scale. The purpose of human life in Islam is what can also be called the general goal or end of Islamic education.

Because basically education, when viewed from its function, is to want to form human beings, who have noble character and good character, for the sake of achieving a happy life, both in this world and in the hereafter. In this case, the role of Islamic education institutions, one of which is that madrasas must be able to keep up with all of these things and be able to direct their students so that in their output they can compete with other countries and not lose in terms of knowledge and technology, without leaving the soul and characteristics of Islam in his life.

THE ROLE OF ISLAMIC EDUCATION TOWARDS SOCIAL CHANGE. Abstract Unprecedented high-intensity flooding induced by extreme precipitation was reported over Chennai in India during November–December of 2015, which led to extensive damage to human life and property. It is of utmost importance to determine the odds of occurrence of such extreme floods in the future, and the related climate phenomena, for planning and mitigation purposes. Here, a suite of simulations from GFDL high-resolution coupled climate models are used to investigate the odds of occurrence of extreme floods induced by extreme precipitation over Chennai and the role of radiative forcing and/or large-scale SST forcing in enhancing the probability of such events in the future. The climate of twentieth-century experiments with large ensembles suggest that the radiative forcing may not enhance the probability of extreme floods over Chennai. Doubling of CO2 experiments also fails to show evidence for an increase of such events in a global warming scenario. Further, this study explores the role of SST forcing from the Indian and Pacific Oceans on the odds of occurrence of Chennai-like floods. Neither El Niño nor La Niña enhances the probability of extreme floods over Chennai. However, a warm Bay of Bengal tends to increase the odds of occurrence of extreme Chennai-like floods. In order to trigger a Chennai like-flood, a conducive weather event, such as a tropical depression over the Bay of Bengal with strong transport of moisture from a moist atmosphere over the warm Bay, is necessary for the intense precipitation.

Abstract Organisational culture is assumed to be a key factor in large-scale and avoidable institutional failures (e.g. accidents, corruption). Whilst models such as “ethical culture” and “safety culture” have been used to explain such failures, minimal research has investigated their ability to do so, and a single and unified model of the role of culture in institutional failures is lacking. To address this, we systematically identified case study articles investigating the relationship between culture and institutional failures relating to ethics and risk management (n = 74). A content analysis of the cultural factors leading to failures found 23 common factors and a common sequential pattern. First, culture is described as causing practices that develop into institutional failure (e.g. poor prioritisation, ineffective management, inadequate training). Second, and usually sequentially related to causal culture, culture is also used to describe the problems of correction: how people, in most cases, had the opportunity to correct a problem and avert failure, but did not take appropriate action (e.g. listening and responding to employee concerns). It was established that most of the cultural factors identified in the case studies were consistent with survey-based models of safety culture and ethical culture. Failures of safety and ethics also largely involve the same causal and corrective factors of culture, although some aspects of culture more frequently precede certain outcome types (e.g. management not listening to warnings more commonly precedes a loss of human life). We propose that the distinction between causal and corrective culture can form the basis of a unified (combining both ethical and safety culture literatures) and generalisable model of organisational failure.

The article attempts to analyze the historical and psychological aspects of the world pandemics of the past and present. The authors provide a detailed overview of the world's pandemics and their impact on society and the individual. Historical and psychological reviews allow us to draw a parallel between the large-scale pandemics of the past and the present, which is especially relevant in the light of the COVID-19 pandemic that has engulfed humanity. A logical and reasonable periodization of global pandemics is suggested, and the authors give a detailed description of each stage. The first stage includes the pandemics of traditional and early industrial society that raged in the ancient world, the middle ages, and early modern times. The authors highlight such features as a high mortality rate, localization in certain regions and continents, the connection of the spread of diseases with the processes of population migration, crusades, and great geographical discoveries. The second stage includes the pandemics of the industrial era, which occur in the context of globalization, urbanization and increasing crowding of the population, but become less destructive. The authors associate the third stage with modern pandemics generated by the transition to a post-industrial (information) society. The authors note the reduction in mortality from pandemics, and at the same time mutations of viruses, which forces scientists around the world to constantly search for and develop new vaccines. Historical, cultural and psychological analysis of past pandemics allows us to understand better the psychological features of human life in the context of a new coronavirus infection. The authors reveal the role of technological progress in the fight against global pandemics, the role of virus mutations in the development of medical knowledge.

Abstract: The Covid-19 that emerged since December 2019 in Wuhan China has subsequently spread throughout the world and is determined to be a global pandemic on March 11, 2020 by WHO. One of the efforts to break the chain of the spread of Covid-19 in Indonesia was carried out with Large-Scale Social Restrictions on March 31, 2020. This had an impact on the economic conditions of the community at large. This condition encourages MUI to issue legal fatwas related to handling Covid-19 and its impact through the implementation of zakat. By looking at the role of the fatwa, several conclusions can be formulated, first that the MUI fatwa Number 23 of 2020 is a quick-responsive and effective effort that plays a clear role in overcoming the danger of difficulties in fulfilling the necessities of life that are being experienced by the people of the Covid-19 pandemic era so that life humans and the continuity of religion is maintained. This fatwa is in accordance with the logic of the theory of closing the opportunity for danger (sadd al-dzari'ah) which aims to save human life (hifdz al-nafs) and the continuity of religion (hifdz al-din). Second, that the MUI fatwa Number 23 of 2020 acts as a medium for social change needed during the Covid-19 pandemic era.
