This descriptive study aimed to correlate cyber bullying with academic achievement, general health, and depression among adolescents in Thailand. The participants in the study were composed of 400 senior high school and vocational certificate students aged 14 to 20 years. The results revealed that one-third of the participants were found to have been bullied (39.0 %). Furthermore, cyberbullying was correlated with academic achievement, general health, and depression among adolescents with a statistical significance of 0.01 (rpb = 0.858, p < 0.01; rpb = 0.584, p < 0.01; rpb = 0.532, p < 0.01). Based on the findings, the following recommendations are suggested. As cyberbullying can be seen as a significant factor correlated with academic achievement, general health, and depression among adolescents, all people involved (families, schools, communities, and society) need to have awareness of, and place importance on, protecting and caring for children in the use of online social media within proper boundaries. Beginning with families, parents should place importance on speaking with adolescents about the problems or issues confronted by them at home and in school, and they should know how to observe the positive and negative changes in behavior among adolescents in order to help them search for guidelines to provide suitable and timely help for them. Most importantly, adolescents should be taught to be aware of the positive and negative impacts of their cyberbullying actions.

Lactate is a product of anaerobic glycolysis, used in animal research as an indicator of muscle fatigue. Therefore, it has been used as an indicator of cattle response to long distance transportation. The aim of this study was to assess the relationship of L-lactate concentrations measured using a Lactate Scout+ analyzer and a traditional lactate assay colorimetric kit. Blood samples were collected by venipuncture from 96 steers (Black or Red Angus × Hereford/Simmental and Black or Red Angus × Charolais; 247 ± 38.2 kg BW) prior to loading (LO1) and after 36 h of transport, and prior to reloading and after an additional 4 h of road transportation, and on d 1, 2, 3, 5, 14, and 28 after transport. The Lactate Scout+ analyzer strip was dipped in blood at the time of sampling, while blood samples were collected into sodium fluoride tubes for use in the colorimetric analysis. Pearson correlations were calculated to assess the strength of the relationship between the experimental methods for the quantification of L-lactate concentrations. The magnitude and direction of the correlation, and the level of statistical significance varied over the observed time points, ranging from r = −0.03 (p = 0.75; LO1) to r = 0.75 (p < 0.0001; d 3). The correlation for the pooled data was weak but statistically significant (r = 0.33, p < 0.0001). Based on the low magnitude of the correlation due to variability across sampling time points in this study, the Lactate Scout+ analyzer is not a suitable alternative to a lab-based assay (considered the gold standard) for measuring L-lactate in transported cattle.

Abstract Blood metabolites are used to assess a variety of animal conditions for veterinary diagnosis and research. Concentration of metabolites in blood can be measured using a commercially-available lab-based assay or in real-time using a handheld device developed to be more time- and cost-effective than the lab-based method. To study the relationship of parents' attitudes towards teachers, school, and education with the academic achievement of their children, a questionnaire was given to the parents of 1021 Standard 7 pupils (369 boys and 652 girls) randomly chosen from the Standard 7/Year 9 population of 14,765 boys and 26,109 girls. Analysis of variance indicated a positive relationship between parents' attitudes and the academic achievement of their children regardless of whether the children's parents were deceased or alive.

Objective: The relationship of the first deciduous tooth eruption and the general health of an infant has always been a subject of curiosity. The enigma of teething although historical, continues to pervade contemporary child health care due to many unexplained teething myths. The treatment modalities used in teething have been diverse. The objective of this study was to evaluate the awareness, beliefs and knowledge of parents towards teething symptoms. Materials and method: Hundred parents were randomly selected from two kindergarten schools and were interviewed according to a structured questionnaire. Collected data was analyzed by a statistical software known as SPSS. Results: Results revealed that though parents knew about teething but there was lack of awareness regarding diverse treatment modalities and the teething myths and realities. A descriptive study of factors in the lifestyle of fifty couples married an average of 55.5 years and an average age of seventy-nine years provided data for this report. The non-random sample was heterogeneous using traditional socio-economic indicators. Life-Satisfaction (LSI-Z), Locke-Wallace Marital Adjustment scores, and perception of health were all high. More than half the sample were now or had been sexually active within the past five years. Independence, commitment, companionship and qualities of caring were significant elements in these long-lasting marriages.

This study examined the relationship of students’ goal orientation to their beliefs about what leads to success in physical education and perceptions of the purposes of physical education. High school students (N = 144,78 females and 66 males) completed a modified version of the Task and Ego Orientation in Sport Questionnaire and measures of beliefs and perceived purposes specific to physical education class. Results indicated that students high in task orientation were significantly more likely to believe that success is achieved through intrinsic interest/effort/cooperation than were those low in task orientation. High ego-oriented students believed that success is achieved when students possess high ability more so than low ego-oriented students. The high task/low ego students were most likely to reject the notion that success in physical education occurs when students know how to use deceptive tactics and were less likely to perceive that an important function of physical education is to provide an easy class.

The relationship of the WISC-R Arithmetic and WRAT Arithmetic scales to grades was determined for a sample of 8 female and 14 male juvenile delinquents. The WISC-R correlated .538 with grades and .302 with the WRAT, while the WRAT correlated .289 with grades. The WISC-R also correlated .508 with sex (females scoring higher). While WRAT Arithmetic is questioned as an indicator of academic achievement, WISC-R accounts for 29% of grades variance and may be a useful correlate.

Stress reactions occur when an environmental event taxes one’s ability to cope. The study investigated the relationship of stress with conduct and achievement. A sample of 60 students (14-18 years) from Government schools was incidentally selected. Stress was measured with the help of a scale by (Tubesing and Tubesing, 1983) which assesses symptoms of physical, emotional and mental stress. Conduct was assessed in terms of the judgment of class teacher on a bipolar adjective checklist developed by the researcher about different behaviours of the student like punctuality, perseverance etc. Average marks obtained by a student throughout one academic session was used as a measure of academic achievement. The results revealed higher level of stress, specially emotional stress among male adolescents as compared to females; better conduct and academic achievement by females. Mental stress was found to be negatively correlated with achievement for both but with conduct for females only. Overall stress was found to be significantly negatively correlated with achievement in females; positive correlation between conduct and academic achievement was found. The study implies that out of different forms of stress, mental stress has more deleterious impact on academic achievement of adolescents; although females have been found to be higher in good conduct, mental stress undermines it too. Findings suggest a need for training of teachers and parents to help their wards in developing the skills to manage mental stress.
