Traditional costume as a cultural code: iconography, symbolic and semantics (on the example of a women’s costume)

The article is devoted to the research of the traditional costume as the material embodiment of the cultural code. The semantic-symbolic structure of a traditional costume undoubtedly reflects significant cultural information about its owner: social and age status, gender, self-awareness, etc. All this together reflects the cultural code of one or another national culture. From the perspective of this research, the traditional women’s costume of the peoples of Eurasia, which, in the opinion of researchers, allows even deeper understanding of the popularity of its motifs in the creative practice of modern designers. In the article, the very history of the emergence and evolution of the basic elements of a traditional women’s costume is considered as a kind of reflection of cultural codes. The researching on the basis of functionality expressed in everyday, festive, ceremonial and ritual functions of clothes is likened to structural components of a cultural code. At the same time, one can trace how over time the iconography, symbolism and semantics associated with his transition from one category to another change in a costume.

The study of the specifics of the manifestation of cultural codes in Tatar poetry and prose of the second half of the 20th century is of great scientific and practical interest. The timeliness of the chosen topic is conditioned by the need to identify the uniqueness, originality of Tatar national poetry and prose of the given period. At the same time, it should be noted that Tatar poetry and prose of the period of returning to national origins has not undergone comprehensive, holistic, detailed, structural study in terms of reflecting national identity. The goal of research: systematic and comprehensive study of the creative work of Tatar writers of the second half of the 20th century in respect of the aspect of the specifics of the manifestation of the national cultural code in them, identifying the nature of literary interactions and interrelations with Russian literature. The article deals with the specifics of the implementation of the Tatar national cultural code in the works of Amirkhan Eniki, Mirgaziyan Yunys, Ravil Bukharaev, Zulfat, Robert Minnullin, Renat Haris, Hassan Tufan and Ildar Yuzeev. The works under study reflect the Tatar national worldview and contain its main components: the image of homeland and native land, national holidays, moral and spiritual values and the history of the Tatar people. They also reflect the organic connection of the creative work of these writers and poets with the Tatar national culture and literature.

In the article the novel “To kill Bobrykin. The history of one murder” by A. Nikolaenko, the 2017 “Russian Buker” prize-winner, is considered as heterogeneous text. The text, semeiotically complicated, is being analyzed through the prism of cultural codes. Different definitions for the concept “cultural code” are given. The semantic space of the novel is various. Iconic works of XX century, to which the author is drawn by the author, -literary texts and screen texts, - are considered as cultural codes. This approach of looking allows to read Nikolaenko novel on other semeiotic level: to trace numerous references, including implicit - to symbolist novel of The Silver Age. In the focus of attention - the interaction and intersection of symbols and meanings.

Понимаемый как некоторый набор смысловых установок конкретной общности он глубоко укоренен в философии и литературе. Культурными кодами задается творчество, обретающее смысл только в условиях существования языка. Культурная информация оказывается в буквальном смысле обусловлена языком и закодирована паттернами. В статье очерчивается потенциал изучения творческого наследия П.М. Бицилли, философа-эмигранта, обратившегося к тематике языка как резервуара культурных кодов. Ключевые слова: язык, культура, философия, культурный код, русское зарубежье, П.М. Бицилли «Cultural code» is one of the most relevant terms today in the field of language and cultural studies. Understood as a certain set of semantic attitudes of a particular community, it is deeply rooted in modern philosophy and literature. Cultural codes define any creative work, which acquires meaning only in the framework of the existence of language. Cultural information turns out to be literally conditioned by language and coded by patterns. The article outlines the potential of studying the heritage of Pyotr Bitsilli, an emigrant philosopher who turned to the subject of language as a reservoir of cultural codes. Abstract In our paper we will talk about the whole process of standardization of the Albanian language, where it has gone through a long historical route, for almost a century.When talking about standard Albanian language history and according to Albanian language literature, it is often thought that the Albanian language was standardized in the Albanian Language Orthography Congress, held in Tirana in 1972, or after the publication of the Orthographic Rules (which was a project at that time) of 1967 and the decisions of the Linguistic Conference, a conference of great importance that took place in Pristina, in 1968. All of these have influenced chronologically during a very difficult historical journey, until the standardization of the Albanian language.Considering a slightly wider and more complex view than what is often presented in Albanian language literature, we will try to describe the path (history) of the standard Albanian formation under the influence of many historical, political, social and cultural factors that are known in the history of the Albanian people. These factors have contributed to the formation of a common state, which would have, over time, a common standard language.It is fair to think that "all activity in the development of writing and the Albanian language, in the field of standardization and linguistic planning, should be seen as a single unit of Albanian culture, of course with frequent manifestations of specific polycentric organization, either because of divisions within the cultural body itself, or because of the external imposition"(Rexhep Ismajli," In Language and for Language ", Dukagjini, Peja, 1998, pp. 15-18.)

 Individuals who have a family history oftype 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) have a highrisk for type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetescan be prevented by improving modifiablerisk factors, supported by self-awareness,perceptions and attitudes of individualswho have a high family history of DM. Thisstudy used a qualitative phenomenologicaldesign. A Purposive Sampling techiniquewas applied to determine individuals whohad parents with type 2 diabetes. Nineindividuals participated in this study. AQualitative content analysis with Collaiziapproach used as a data analysis method.The main themes depicted individuals selfawareness,perceptions, & attitudes were:denials that diabetes caused by heredityfactors; misperception about diabetes;“traditional modalities” as a preventionmeasurement toward type 2 diabetes; andDM is perceived as a “threatening disease”.Further study is needed to examine indepth the themes that have been identifiedon the number of participants are morenumerous and varied.

ABSTRACT The first tax inversion in 1983 was followed by small waves of subsequent inversion activity, including two inversions completed by Transocean. Significant media and political attention focused on transactions made by U.S. multinational corporations that were primarily designed to reduce U.S. corporate income taxes. As a result, the U.S. government took several actions to limit inversion activity. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 (TCJA) significantly lowered U.S. corporate tax rates and one expected impact of TCJA is a reduction of inversion activity. Students use the Transocean inversions to understand the reasons why companies complete a tax inversion and how the U.S. tax code affects inversion activity. Students also learn about the structure of inversion transactions and how they have changed over time as the U.S. government attempted to limit them. Students also assess the tax and economic impacts of inversion transactions to evaluate tax policy.

Chapter 3 introduces the tradition of ritual journeys and sacred geographies in South Asia, then hones in on a detailed history of the grueling and elaborate pilgrimage attached to the shrine of Hinglaj. Before the construction of the Makran Coastal Highway the journey to the Goddess’s remote abode in the desert of Balochistan frequently presented a lethally dangerous undertaking for her devotees, the hardships of which have been described by many sources in Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Sindhi, and Urdu. This chapter draws heavily from original sources, including travelogues and novels, which are supplanted with local oral histories in order to weave a historical tapestry that displays the rich array of practices and beliefs surrounding the pilgrimage and how they have changed over time. The comparative analysis demonstrates how certain motifs, such as austerity (Skt. tapasyā), remain important themes within the whole Hinglaj genre even in modern times while others have been lost in the contemporary era.

The introduction reviews the historiographic problem of the relation between fire sacrifice (yajña) and image worship (pūjā), which have traditionally been seen as opposing ritual structures serving to undergird the distinction of “Vedic” and “Hindu.” Against such an icono- and theocentric approach, it proposes a history of the priesthood in relation to royal power, centering on the relationship between the royal chaplain (purohita) and astrologer (sāṃvatsara) as a crucial, unexplored development in early Indian religion. In order to capture these historical developments, it outlines a method for the comparative study of ritual forms over time.

This chapter discusses how the full emergence of the centralized, aristocratic state in the seventh century brought about an official historiography that was part of the bureaucracy of that state. Beginning in the Tang, each dynastic court maintained an office of historiography. Over time, a regularized process evolved that, in theory and often in reality, turned the daily production of court bureaucratic documents into an official history of the dynasty. Although this process was ongoing throughout the dynasty, the final, standard ‘dynastic history’ was usually completed after the dynasty's demise by its successor state. Indeed, the very concept of a series of dynastic histories that, taken together, would present an official history of successive, legitimate Chinese states, dates from the eleventh century.
