Comprehensions demonstrated by students of fundamental education in lifting hypotheses, analyzing real data and making decisionsAbstract: The purpose of this study was to analyze the understandings shown by elementary school students (5 th and 7 th years), in the face of univariate and bivariate distributions by raising hypotheses, analyzing data and drawing conclusions from the analysis. For this, the students answered four activities. It turned out that most of the students raised hypotheses. This result is very important, since this phase of a research is fundamental. As for the interpretation of the data and the confrontation between hypotheses and real data, an important attitude of the students was observed, since they realized a reanalysis of the real data when they need to confront them. However, in the situation involving the relationship between two variables (bivariate distribution) was difficult for students of both years. Evaluation of conclusions from the data proved difficult for most students, but not impossible. The use of probabilistic language generated difficulties for both groups of students, although it is necessary in situations of uncertainty. It is believed that pedagogical interventions aimed at analyzing and reanalyzing the data contribute to advances in the understanding of these skills. Keywords: Student conceptions; Probability; Distribution; Univariate; Bivariate.
