A study to assess the perception towards online classes during COVID 19 pandemic among nursing students studying in a selected nursing college of Jammu

The COVID-19 pandemic situation had led to drastic change in lifestyle of common people especially in student life as this led to shift from traditional method of teaching to online learning. Online teaching plays a crucial role, helping in continuing the courses during this pandemic. Hence, it is essential for the educators to find out students’ perception that ensures their satisfaction towards the online classes. A descriptive study was used toassess the perception towards online classes during COVID 19 pandemic among 205 nursing students selected by total enumerative sampling technique. Structured likert scale was used to collect the data through online survey.The results revealed that majority 96.6% of the nursing students were partially satisfied, whereas only 2.4% were fully satisfied and only 1% was unsatisfied towards online classes.

Background: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an emerging infectious disease caused by novel coronavirus and hence this pandemic has a great impact on the education system. Nursing students as part of the health team should know the coronavirus like other communicable diseases. Methods: A quantitative approach and cross-sectional survey research design used to assess the knowledge of Coronavirus among 145 nursing students of district Sirmaur selected through the convenient sampling technique. An online self-structured questionnaire used as a tool for data collection. Descriptive data analysis was done with SPSS (version 23).Results: The result of the study revealed that only 31.7% of students had good knowledge about COVID-19, and 68.3% had average knowledge. Conclusions: There is a need for intervention such as educational programs or pieces of training to educate about the pandemic and its prevention practices to undergraduate students to make our society more secure.

This paper explored the pedagogical preparations taken by the researcher in integrating blogs to the traditional classroom experience as well as its use in online classes as a tool for students to write about what they have learned in class and relate it to everyday life. The researcher utilized web blog, combined Facebook and Multiply blogsites, in the online teaching. Utilization of blogsites to supplement the traditional method of teaching was a welcome innovation for most students. The study involved thirty-eight (38) enrolled students of the course English 111. The familiarity and convenience of facebook and multiply blogsites makes learning and complying to requirements an enjoyable task. Blogs as a learning space for English 111 was an effective teaching methodology appreciated by the students. However, the integration of blogs in the traditional teaching learning process requires preparation and planning on the part of the teacher so that applicable and timely activities could be given to the students.

This study aimed at assessing the perception of adults towards rape. This descriptive study included 50 adults residing in Delhi, India, selected using convenient sampling technique. A structured interview schedule was used for data collection. Results revealed that people still do not have positive perceptions for rape victims. While majority of the respondents were females, yet many of them responded that a woman was responsible for rape in various situations. This study concluded that the issue of gender sensitization needs to be taken seriously by educationists, sociologists, politicians and common people alike.

Introduction: Menstruation is a periodic cycle which occurs after every 28-30 days in every healthy woman after menarche till menopause. In recent years, this blood is considered as best out of waste as pluripotent stem cells can be collected from it. In addition to this, it could be saved for future benefits. In this study, an attempt has been made to rule out nursing student’s cognizance regarding menstrual blood banking. Aim of the study: To assess the knowledge regarding menstrual blood banking among nursing students at Jodhpur. Material and Method: A descriptive study was carried out on 180 nursing students of Government Nursing College, Jodhpur. Non-probability purposive sampling method was used to select samples. Study was conducted from 17th September to 17th October’2020 using structured knowledge questionnaire. Moreover, study was analysed by using descriptive and inferential statistics. Result: The findings of the study reveals that majority (58.03%) of the nursing students had moderate knowledge regarding menstrual blood banking. Furthermore, the study illustrated a significant association between level of knowledge and selected socio- demographic variables. Conclusion: It can be reiterated that nursing students have an average knowledge regarding menstrual blood banking. KEY WORDS: Knowledge, menstrual blood banking, menstruation.

A descriptive study to assess the knowlegde regarding essential newborn care among the nursing students of sekected colkeges in Jalandhar, Punjab with a view to develop self-instructional module 2019-2020. The objectives of the study were: a) To assess the knowledge regarding essential newborn care among nursing students. b) To find out the association between knowledge level with selected demographic variables among nursing students. c) To develop a self-instructional module regarding essential newborn care.The descriptive research design was adopted to accomplish the objectives of the study to assess the knowledge of essential newborn care among the 60 nursing students of the army college of nursing, Jalandhar Cantt. The sample was chosen by using a purposive sampling technique and the data collected by using a self-structured knowledge questionnaire. The data were analyzed with objectives by using descriptive and inferential statistics such as frequency, percentage mean, and chi-square test.The major findings of the present study reveal that maximum nursing student i.e. 66.66% have very good knowledge and 33.33% have good knowledge as per the data collected through self-questionnaire scores. As per the demographic variables of the nursing students, distribution of nursing students according to their exposure in the Labor room and NICU shows that most of the nursing students i.e. 66.66% of them were posted to the Labor room and NICU for 1-10 days, 20% were posted for 11-20 days and 13.33% for 21-30 days and exposure in postnatal unit shows that most of the nursing students i.e. 53.33% were posted in a postnatal unit for 1-2 weeks, 38.33% were posted for 2-3 weeks and 8.3% for 3-4 week and according to their source of information regarding essential newborn care shows that most of the students i.e. 70% learned from clinical experience, 28.33% learned from textbooks and 1.66% learned from mass media. Also there is no significant association between selected demographic variables and knowledge score among the nursing students of selected college of Jalandhar.

A descriptive study was conducted to assess the knowledge regarding home based care of corona positive patients (mild, pre symptomatic) and quarantined people among the students of selected nursing college. Objective of the study was to assess the knowledge of students regarding home based care of corona positive patients (mild and pre-symptomatic) and quarantined people. By using non experimental descriptive research design it was conducted among 79 subjects who were studying in DGNM 2nd year and DGNM 3rd year of Rufaida College of Nursing by non probability convenience sampling technique. The tool developed for the data collection was a self structured knowledge questionnaire. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics. Findings revealed that out of 79 subjects, 84.81% had average knowledge followed by 11.39% having good knowledge, 2.53% having poor knowledge and 1.27% having excellent knowledge regardinghome based care of corona positive patients (mild, pre-symptomatic) and quarantined people.

This research study was undertaken to assess the effectiveness of planned teaching program on knowledge regarding biomedical waste management according to NABH protocol among selected nursing student of selected nursing college of Indore city the target population consist of nursing student, sample size are 60 nursing students, and Non- probability convenient sampling technique was used. Demographic variables were used. The mean score of nursing students regarding biomedical waste management according to NABH protocol is 11.05 in pre-interventional & post- interventional mean score is 21.87, mean difference of biomedical waste management according to NABH protocol is 10.82 with Standard Deviation was 2.12 of pre-interventional and 2.32 is Standard Deviation of postinterventional, & calculated 't' value is 32.89 at df 59 which is higher than the tabulated 't' value 2.00 at 0.05 level of Signicance. The study concluded that knowledge of biomedical waste management according to NABH protocol of nursing students is satisfactory or up to the mark but when compared pre-interventional and post-interventional.

Background: Online classes were never been a part of regular habit in India. But due to corona pandemic every institute is offering online classes whether medical or nursing institutes. Aim was to ascertain the attitude towards online classes among undergraduate nursing students during lockdown period.Methods: This cross-sectional descriptive survey was conducted on 394 undergraduate nursing students in which samples were chosen through convenient sampling technique. A valid and reliable self-structured questionnaire based on 5 point Likert scale was used to ascertain the attitude of undergraduate nursing students towards online classes and data were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics in SPSS version 23.Results: More than two-third (76%) participants showed unfavorable attitude towards online classes. There was a significant difference between age, residence, father and mother education with participants’ year of study (p<0.05). Overall mean score for attitude towards online classes was 73.37 (SD±23.52) and there was no significant difference between overall attitude score with participants’ year of study. Only one subscale (interest to computer and intention to adopt component) had significant difference (p=0.011) among participants. There was significant association found among gender, mother education and family income with their year of study (p<0.05).Conclusions: Online classes may have lots of advantages over traditional classes yet it does not seem to be of much interest among undergraduate nursing students in India and they are not willing to consider it on a regular basis. Policy makers should find the way to make online classes more interesting.

The aim of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness of Heartfulness meditation technique on reduction of stress among Nursing college students, Bhopal. The study was conducted by adopting a one group pre and post test design. 60 nursing students who fulfilled the inclusion criteria were selected by using Non-probability convenient sampling technique. The study was conducted in L.N. Nursing college, Bhopal, M.P. With the ethical consideration, pre assessment of stress level has been done among nursing college students. Heartfulness meditation has been practiced for 14 consecutive days and post test was conducted after 14 days. The analysis of the study depicts that heartfullness meditation is more effective in reduction of stress among nursing college students at p< 0.05 level.
