This study aimed to investigate the effects of 8-week mat and reformer pilates exercises on functional movement skills, flexibility of adult healthy sedentary women. 58 [reformer exercise group (n: 20), mat exercise group (n: 21) and control group (n: 17)] volunteer women participated in the study. Functional Movement Screen test (FMS), sit and reach test, Trunk lateral flexion test, Quadriceps Femoris and M.Iliopsoas flexibility test were applied to the participants. Two-way repeated measures ANOVA was used in the analysis of the obtained data. Additionally, Bonferroni test, one of the multiple comparison tests, was used to determine the source of the difference between groups. Moreover, the percentage changes of eight-week exercises on FMS scores, flexibility and strength parameters of adult women were determined by using the formula %Δ= [(Post-test - Pre-test) / Pre-test*100]. According to the results of the study, it was determined that there was a statistically significant difference in the total FMS mean scores and flexibility test results of the exercise group and the control group. There was a higher increase in FMS scores and lower extremity flexibility values of the reformer group compared to the mat group, on the other hand, upper extremity flexibility levels of the mat group were found to be higher than the reformer group. As a result, it was determined that 8-week mat and reformer pilates exercises had a positive effects on some functional movement skills and flexibility parameters in adult healthy sedentary women. The aim of this study is to examine the effect of 8-week corrective exercises applied to 12-15 age group basketball players on Functional Movement Screen Test (FMS) and motor skill (MS) score. 65 volunteer children between the ages of 12-15 participated in the study. The children were the control group (CG) (N = 25) who did not do any exercise, the basketball group that only trained basketball (BG) (N = 20), and the corrective exercise group (CEG) (N = 20) that did corrective exercises in addition to basketball training. It is divided into 3 groups. Basketball training was applied to children on BG 3 days a week. In addition to basketball training, an 8-week corrective exercise protocol was applied to the children in CEG. Functional movement patterns of children were determined with FMS test and MSs with Deutscher Motor Test (DMT). Kruskal-Wallis H Test was used to determine the differences children's pre-tests and post-tests after corrective exercises. As a result of the statistical analysis, a statistically significant difference was found between the pre-test and post-tests of FMS total scores and DMT scores in CEG (p<0.05). As a result, it has been shown that corrective exercises contribute to FMS total scores and the MS development of children. Özet   Bu çalışmasının amacı, 12-15 yaş grubu basketbolculara uygulanan 8 haftalık düzeltici egzersizlerin fonksiyonel hareket tarama testi (FHT) ve motor beceri (MB) puanı üzerine etkisinin incelenmesidir. Çalışmaya 12-15 yaş arası 65 gönüllü çocuk katılmıştır. Çocuklar herhangi bir egzersiz yapmayan kontrol grubu (KG) (N=25), sadece basketbol antrenmanı yapan basketbol grubu (BG) (N=20) ve basketbol antrenmanına ilaveten düzeltici egzersiz yapan düzeltici egzersiz grubu (DEG) (N=20) olmak üzere 3 gruba ayrılmıştır. BG’da bulunan çocuklara haftada 3 gün sadece basketbol antrenmanı, DEG’da bulunan çocuklara basketbol antrenmanlarına ilaveten 8 haftalık düzeltici egzersiz protokolü uygulanmıştır. Çocukların fonksiyonel hareket kalıpları FHT testi ile MB’leri Deutscher Motor Testi (DMT) ile belirlenmiştir. Çocukların FHT skorları ve DMT skorlarının ön testleri ile düzeltici egzersizler sonrası son testleri arasındaki farkı belirlemede Wilcoxon İşaretli Sıralar Testi kullanılmıştır. İstatiksel analizler sonucunda, DEG’da FHT toplam skorları ve DMT skorları ön test ile son testleri arasında istatiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılık bulunmuştur (p<0,05). Sonuç olarak düzeltici egzersizlerin FHT toplam skorlarına ve çocukların MB gelişimine katkı sağladığı gösterilmiştir. Düzeltici egzersizlerin antrenman içeriklerine yerleştirilmesinin çocukların MB’lerini artırabileceği düşünülmektedir.

Abstract Objectives The number of studies examining the circulating level change of betatrophin and cartonectin in metabolic syndrome applying different loads of exercise is limited. The purpose of the present study was to investigate how different loads of exercises regulate the betatrophin and cartonectin levels in metabolic syndrome induced rats. Methods A total of 24 Wistar-Albino male rats were used in the study. Rats were divided into four groups as follows; G1: control group (fed with standard diet and tap water), G2: metabolic syndrome group (without exercise application), G3: metabolic syndrome + aerobic exercise group (aerobic exercise applied), G4: metabolic syndrome + anaerobic exercise group (anaerobic exercise applied). Betatrophin and Cartonectin levels were determined by ELISA method in serum samples. Results There was a statistically significant difference in betatrophin levels between the groups and this differentiation was caused by G2 (p <0.05). Cartonectin levels were not significantly different between groups (p> 0.05). Conclusions It can be concluded that anaerobic exercises have more positive effects on glucose balance in metabolic syndrome than aerobic exercises, and by regulating betatrophin levels, anaerobic exercises indicate this effect.

Abstract Background Attention problems and decreased quality of life are frequently accompanied in Cerebral Palsy (CP), which can negatively affect rehabilitation of physical disability. However, the majority of affected children remain untreated in the aspects of attention or psychosocial factors. Equine-Assisted Activities and Therapies (EAAT) use horse as a therapeutic modality including grooming as well as mounted riding activities in which patients exercise and experience mounted stimulation. It is known to help improve attention in children with ADHD, so that it can be an exercise therapy that is expected to improvement of attention as well as rehabilitating effects in CP patients. EAA may be a promising strategy to address the unmet need for CP patients. This study aims to investigate the efficacy of EAA for children with CP, those with both CP and ADHD and confirm the comorbidity between CP and ADHD. Methods Forty-six children with cerebral palsy participated in this study. For the exercise group, they participated in a 40-min session twice a week for a 16-week period, while the control group engaged in daily life without any special treatments. Each children individually were assessed on attention and psychological wellbeing at baseline and post-treatment. Comorbidity were identified based on the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorder 5th edition (DSM-5) and confirmed by Korean Kiddie-Schedule for Affective Disorders and Schizophrenia Present and Lifetime Version (K-SADS-PL). Results Perseveration rated using the Conner’s Performance Test (CPT) showed a significant decrease only in the exercise group (p < .024). However, no significant improvement in children’s quality of life was observed after EAA program compared with control group. Among the total participants, fifteen children (31.91%) were diagnosed with ADHD. When conducting an additional analysis with the subsample of CP patients diagnosed with ADHD, the d’, commission error and perseveration showed a significant decrease only in the exercise group. Children with CP and ADHD reported an improvement in quality of life both in exercise and control group, but only in the exercise group social functioning exhibited a significant difference. Conclusion The positive effects of the EAA on attention and quality of life were confirmed. Children with CP in the exercise group were more capable to sustain their attention longer. Those with CP and ADHD showed an increase in attention and perceived to have better social skills after receiving 16 weeks of EAA compared to those in the control group. Considering high comorbidity of CP and ADHD, it seems that the EAA program could be the better alternative treatment for CP with attentional problem. The results of this study will contribute to growing evidence for the efficacy of EAA in children especially with CP and ADHD. Objectives: Pronation distortion syndrome is one of the common physical deformities, that causes distortions in the skeletal structures of the feet. The current study aimed to determine the effects of 12 weeks of systematic and functional corrective exercises on the body posture of students with pronation distortion syndrome.  Methods: In this quasi-experimental study, 30 volunteers suffering from pronation distortion syndrome were selected. Then, they were randomly divided into two 15-member groups, i.e. the experimental and the control groups. The experimental group practiced systematic and functional corrective exercises for 12 weeks (three sessions a week, each lasting an hour), while the control group did not receive any exercises. Before and after the exercises, the students were evaluated using the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) screening test as well as body posture tests, including flat feet, pronation angle of ankle joint, knock-knee (bow-leggedness or genu valgum), and lumbar lordosis (swayback). The obtained data were analyzed using the dependent and independent t-tests (P<0.05).  Results: After 12 weeks of systematic and functional corrective exercises, the experimental group showed significant improvement in FMS and body posture (P=0.001). However, no significant difference was observed in the control group (P<0.05). In general, the body posture of the experimental group was significantly better than the control group (P=0.001).  Discussion: Based on the findings of the current study, systematic and functional corrective exercises improve the body posture of students suffering from pronation distortion syndrome. Therefore, these exercises are recommended for such students.

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the effect of eight weeks of core stability training on the functional movement screen (FMS) test scores in elite goalball players. Methods: The study sample included 26 elite goalball players. The players were randomized into the two groups of experimental (n=13) and control (n=13). Besides, FMS was used to evaluate the study variables in both groups, before and after the eight weeks of training. After the pretest, the experimental group performed the core stability training using a Swiss ball, three days a week for eight weeks; the control group did the usual training. Then, the analysis of covariance at the significant level of 0.05 was used to analyze the obtained data. Results: The results showed a significant difference in the adjusted mean scores of the FMS test between the experimental and control groups (P=0.021). Conclusion: The positive effect of core stability training on the FMS test scores of the motor function in goalball players emphasizes the effectiveness of this training in core stability muscles. Therefore, it is suggested to use core stability training combined with exercises as an effective way to improve movement patterns and prevent injury in goalball players.

Objective:To assess and compare the effects of 6 mo of Pilates and calisthenics on multijoint coordination and proprioception of the lower limbs at the 3rd and 6th mo of training.Design:Randomized, controlled, assessor-blinded, repeated-measures.Setting:University research laboratory.Participants and Intervention:Healthy, sedentary, female participants age 25–50 y were recruited and randomly divided into 3 groups: a calisthenic exercise group (n = 34, mean age ± SD 40 ± 8 y, body-mass index [BMI] 31.04 ± 4.83 kg/m2), a Pilates exercise group (n = 32, mean age ± SD 37 ± 8 y, BMI 31.04 ± 4.83 kg/m2), and a control group (n = 41, mean age ± SD 41 ± 7 y, BMI 27.09 ± 4.77 kg/m2). The calisthenics and Pilates groups underwent related training programs for 6 mo, while the controls had no specific training.Main Outcome Measures:Coordination and proprioception of the lower extremities with concentric and eccentric performances in the closed kinetic chain assessed with the monitored rehab functional squat system at baseline and at the 3rd and 6th mo of training.Results:For the within-group comparison, coordinative concentric and eccentric deviation values were significantly decreased for both dominant and nondominant lower limbs at pretraining and at the 3rd and 6th mo posttraining in the calisthenics group (P < .05). In contrast, there was no improvement in the Pilates group throughout the training. However, for comparisons between groups, the baseline values of coordinative concentric and eccentric deviations were different in the calisthenics group than in Pilates and the controls (P < .05). There were no differences in the proprioception values of either visible or nonvisible movement in any group throughout the training (P > .05).Conclusions:It seems that calisthenic exercises are more likely to improve coordination of the lower extremity after 3 and 6 mo of training than Pilates exercises. Calisthenic exercises may be useful for individuals who require improved coordination.

Movement assessments are commonly used to assess athlete&rsquo;s risk of injury as well as basic and specific skill movement patterns; however, dance is identified to be differing from sports because the average dancer&rsquo;s training load is higher than the athletes. This study aims to identify the difference in the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) level among traditional dancers in Malaysia. A quasi-experimental study design was adopted, which involved 66 dancers (M = 33; F = 33). The study comprised traditional dancers from three ethnic backgrounds, namely, Malay, Chinese and Indian. The descriptive analysis described the level of the dancers&rsquo; FMS, as follows: Malay (M = 16.18, SD = 2.062), Chinese (M = 18.50, SD = 1.102), Indian (M = 18.23, SD = 1.445). The ANOVA analysis found a significant difference in the FMS scores among all three groups of dancers, F (2,63) = 14.026, p &gt;.000. The deep squat, hurdle step, shoulder mobility, active straight leg raise and trunk stability tests for push-up indicated a significant difference, whereas the inline lunges test and rotational stability tests showed no significance difference. However, the Post Hoc analysis showed no significant difference between the Chinese and Indian dancers. It can be concluded that there is a difference in FMS scores between Malay, Chinese and Indian dancers. FMS may be a useful tool to help identify dancers about the risk of injury and improve their movement quality.

Bu çalışma 8-10 yaş arası erkek çocuklarda yüzme egzersiz ve bosu çalışmalarının dinamik dengeye etkisini incelemek amacıyla yapıldı. Yaşları ortalaması 8,9333±,78492 yıl olan 30 katılımcı veli ve antrenörlerinden gönüllü katılımları ile ilgili aydınlanmış̧ onamları alınarak çalışmaya dahil edildi. Bunların 20' si egzersiz grubu diğer 10'u da kontrol grubudur. Egzersiz grubunun en az 1 yıl yüzme eğitimi almış olmalarına ve haftada 3 gün düzenli olarak yüzme antrenmanı yapıyor olmalarına dikkat edildi. Egzersiz grubu rastgele yöntemle 2 gruba ayrıldı. Birinci gruba yüzme ve bosu çalışmaları, ikinci gruba ise sadece yüzme egzersizleri yaptırıldı. Bu çalışma 10 hafta süreyle uygulandı. Katılımcıların antropometrik ölçümler ile dinamik denge ölçümleri planlanan antrenman programı öncesi ve sonrası olmak üzere iki defa alındı. Çalışma Van Olimpik yüzme havuzunda uygulandı. Verilerin analizinde SPSS 21 paket programı kullanıldı.  Analizler sonucunda yüzme eğitimi alan grubun A (Anterior), PM (Posteromedial) ve PL (Posterolateral) ön test - son test ölçüm  değerleri arasında anlamlı (p<0,01) fark olduğu saptandı. Yine yüzme ve bosu eğitimi alan grubun PM ve PL ön test - son test ölçüm  değerleri arasında anlamlı (p<0,01) fark olduğu belirlendi. Seçilmiş değişkenlerin ön test- son test ölçüm değerleri arasındaki farkların gruplar arasında anlamlı (p<0,05)  bir farklılığın olmadığı görüldü.   ​Extended English summary is in the end of Full Text PDF (TURKISH) file.   Özet This study was carried out to investigate the effect of swimming exercise and bosu studies on dynamic equilibrium in 8-10 years old boys. They were included in the study by taking their enlightened consent about their voluntary participation from 30 participants parents and coaches with an average age of 8,9333 ±, 78492 years. 20 of them were exercise group and 10 of them were control group. The exercise group had at least 1 year of swimming training and swimming training 3 days a week was paid attention to be doing regularly. The exercise group was randomly divided into two groups. The first group had swimming and bosu exercises and the second group had only swimming exercises. This study was performed for 10 weeks. The participants' anthropometric measurements and dynamic balance measurements were taken twice before and after the planned training program. The work was carried out at the Olympic swimming pool in Van. SPSS 21 package program was used to analyze the data. As a result of the analyzes, it was found that there was a significant difference (p<0.01) between the A (Anterior), PM (Poateromedial) and PL (Poaterolateral) pre-test and post-test measurements of the swimming group. It was determined that there was a significant difference (p <0.01) between the PM and PL pretest - posttest measurements of the group receiving swimming and bosu training. There was no significant difference (p <0.05) between the pre-test and post-test values ​​of the selected variables.

The aim of the study is to reveal the effects of the classeswhich enriched with art activitieson academic achievement at the 5th grades. The research group consists of 37 students who determined the science applications course as an elective course in a public school in İzmir during 2015-2016 Education Fall Semester. In this study, from the trial models"Quasi-experimental desing, pre-post test without control group" was used. The data were collected with achievement test and written examination that prepared by researchers in order to measure academic achievement in science applications classes and also interviews that prepared by researchers used in order to determine the opinions of the students on the science applications enriched with art activities. As the results of the research there is a significant difference between the pretest-posttest findings and the pretest-permanency test results of the experimental group. As the results of the achievement test, it is concrete that these activities have positive effects on the students.  It can be said that the applications are effective when the students' interview questions are compared with the answers given by the students after the last application. ÖzetAraştırmanın amacı 5. sınıflarda sanat etkinlikleri ile zenginleştirilmiş bilim uygulamaları dersinin akademik başarıya olan etkilerini ortaya çıkarmaktır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 2015-2016 Öğretim Yılı Güz döneminde İzmir’de bir devlet okulunda bilim uygulamaları dersini seçmeli ders olarak belirleyen 37 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır.Bu araştırmada, deneme modellerinden “tek grup öntest-sontest kontrol grupsuz yarı deney deseni” kullanılmıştır. Veriler bilim uygulamaları dersindeki akademik başarıyı ölçmek amacıyla araştırmacılar tarafından hazırlanan bilim uygulamaları başarı testi ve yazılı yoklama ile öğrencilerin sanat etkinlikleri ile zenginleştirilmiş bilim uygulamaları dersine yönelik görüşlerini belirlemek amacıyla hazırlanan görüşme formu ile toplanmıştır.Araştırmada deney grubunun öntest-sontest sonuçlarında ve öntest-kalıcılık testi sonuçlarında anlamlı fark bulunmaktadır. Yapılan başarı testi sonucunda bu etkinliklerin öğrencileri olumlu etkilediği somut olarak ortaya çıkmıştır. Öğrencilerin görüşme sorularına ön uygulama ile son uygulama sonrası verdikleri cevaplar karşılaştırıldığında uygulamaların etkili olduğu söylenebilir.

<p><strong>Objective:</strong> to determine the effectiveness of a physical therapy program for patients with obesity by the indicators of Functional Movement Screen test exercises.</p><p><strong>Materials and methods</strong>. A total of 114 people of the second adulthood with alimentary-constitutional obesity of the I-III degrees were examined. They were divided according to the level of compliance into two groups. The comparison group consisted of individuals with a low level of compliance; they did not go through a rehabilitation program, but were informed about the risks of obesity; acquainted with the basic principles of hypocaloric nutrition and physical activity. The main group consisted of individuals with a high level of compliance; they underwent a developed program for correcting body weight using measures to maintain a high level of compliance, nutrition modification, increased physical activity, lymphatic drainage procedures, and elements of behavioral psychocorrection. The control group consisted of 60 people with no signs of obesity. A survey of the test exercises Functional Movement Screen was conducted in dynamics before and after the one-year period of implementation of the rehabilitation program.</p><p><strong>Results.</strong> During the initial examination in obese patients, all the obtained parameters of the Functional Movement Screen exercises were statistically significantly worse than in individuals with normal body weight (p &lt;0.05). Re-examination of patients with low compliance showed that no statistically significant positive changes occurred in any test test (p&gt; 0.05). When analyzing the results of test exercises of patients with a high level of compliance under the influence of a physical therapy program, a statistically significant improvement was achieved in all studied parameters relative to the initial level (p &lt;0.05).</p><p><strong>Conclusions: </strong>Diagnostics of mobility based on test exercises Functional Movement Screen in physical therapy programs for obese patients is a modern, simple and affordable method of rehabilitation examination. To achieve the target level of the control group for the studied parameters by patients of II-III degree of obesity, the rehabilitation program should be long for one year.</p>
