Born in China but now a French citizen, the contemporary artist Huang Yong Ping (b. 1954) prioritizes the contradictions and ambiguities that arise from overlapping motifs that signify differently in different cultural settings. Juxtapositions of Chinese and Western zoomorphic symbolism characterize his work since the mid-1990s, seen across diverse pairings and groupings as well as strange hybrid single creatures. Rather than resolving the disjunctions that arise from these works, however, the shape-shifting nature of Huang’s animals emphasizes their polysemy and the profound lack of one-to-one symbolic correspondence in global contemporary art. The power of his zoomorphic works derives from his comfort with ambiguity: although often derived from Chinese ideas, Huang’s works are globally applicable in their complexity of transnational experience and their reflection of human nature as both instinctual and rational.

Some filmmakers or artists decide to put art at the heart of their creation, applying not only the relationship between cinema and art to their concept but also to various aspects of the process of creation. Miriam De Rosa addresses this kind of “art contemporary turn” by examining the different incursions of cinema from the point of view of the contemporary art space: “how the contemporary experience of moving images is articulated when it enters art spaces.” The presence of film in this foreign space, transforming it into a different and personalized place, can be observed in recent exhibitions: Sleepwalkers (2007); Marta Minujín’s Mesunda Reloaded (2019) at the New Museum in New York; and Sensitive Environments by the Milan-based collective Studio Azzurro.

Abstract Against the tendency to consider the drawing in architecture as a simple source of information about the project, or simply to contemplate its potential beauty, this essay aims to analyse one it in its specificity. To carry out this experiment, the text uses one of the many sketches made by Paulo Mendes da Rocha during the preparation of the project for the Museum of Contemporary Art from University of São Paulo (1974-1975). The aim is not to artificially isolate one drawing among the many, giving it an autonomy that it does not possess, but to adopt a new point of view on the universe of the Brazilian architect.

This article draws parallels between decolonial authors and the Brazilian context from the analysis of Oliveira's work. When sketching the singularities of his work, we attempt to reflect on the potential it has to instigate and talk to the audience, especially on the problem of structural racism present in Brazilian society. From that reflection, we strive to highlight the important critical bias that contemporary art, when exposed and accessible throughout the city, can achieve when it comes to decolonizing the sights and perceptions on those bodies. Keywords: Decoloniality. Feminismo. AbstractAmongst all possibilities of feminist action there’s the militant strategy: to take the word of action into the public space, to act in women’s aid, to talk to your target audience and bring your discourse to the people. That was Andrea Dworkin’s strategy, who would bring her speeches into women’s marches and take her experience into her writing, which was her profession. The same strategy was taken by Suzanne Lacy, contemporary artist who focuses on urban installations to mix political and artistic action. This paper correlates these two authors, focusing on their preferred subjects and how their works reverberated together and in society. Keywords: Public. Contemporary Art. Feminism.

Contemporary artists have included classical methods together with innovative digital printing technologies to their artistic manufactures and thus their technological production interactions have been reflected on current art as well. Today’s artists have also been in collaboration with each other by involving the digital printing technologies which kept advancing during the recent 20 years in their works of art just like Degas and Manzi did in their relationships of production partnerships in 19th Century. Besides, those opinions which originated from modernism ideas and movements consist of the core of this cooperation post Industrial Revolution era. Therefore, the concept of nationalism, the devastating consequences of the world wars and the latest industrial and technological advancements have all transformed human life irreversibly. Consequently, during this transformation era, various significant movements of art such as Impressionism and Expressionism emerged in the 20th century and representatives of those art movements substituted such a lot of printmaking practices in their works of art. None of those mentioned above took place in other previous movements of art. They reflected their points of view that they display social movements and none of the other artists who represent other senses of art have ever exhibited such a lot of printmaking practices. Thus, various printing technologies which present a new laboratory environment to the artists. The aim of the article is to delimitate the art zone for our current era. The problematic relationship between the general public and contemporary art is well known and often discussed. The viewers often find it difficult to relate to contemporary artworks or even to understand why they are considered art. We are searching for the appropriate forms to support the viewers in the quest to improve perception of contemporary art by the public. Among the new approaches, we highlight the conception of contemporary art as based not only the category of beauty, but also the communicative act which can translate important social sense(s). This point of view we have found in conceptions of J. Dickey, A. Danto and E. Oryol. To help an ordinary art consumer discover the social sense, we suggest using facilitative discussion technique designed by American teachers A. Hausen and F. Yenawain, and the mediation technique practiced by the UIBSI (Yekaterinburg). Keywords: contemporary art, communication, message, mediation, excursion, facilitative discussion
