The article examines innovative aspects of distance learning of a foreign language using ICT in current epidemiological realities. The authors have analysed advantages of the introduction of ICT in distance learning of foreign languages as an effective technical visual and auditory tool and a mean of educational and cognitive activity of students, which helps to increase the motivation and desire of students to learn a foreign language. Means of increasing interactive and communicative activity in the process of learning foreign languages have been researched. The use of ICT in the educational process (foreign language teaching) makes it possible to bring something new to the usual forms of work of a teacher of higher education institution and a teacher of general secondary education, which contributes to discovering more interesting, more comprehensive and more complete innovative potential of distance learning. In this context, the use of ICT contributes to a clearer presentation of even complex learning material and thus allows to reduce learning time for successful mastering of topics. With the implementation of ICT (Zoom, Skype, Teams, etc.) in the process of distance learning of a foreign language, you can not only create an artificial foreign language environment, but also bring it closer to the natural, through the organization of communication with native speakers. Thanks to ICT in the process of distance learning it is possible to solve problems of learning foreign languages in cooperation, as well as individualization and differentiation of learning considering various factors: level of foreign language proficiency, speed of learning, time limits, learning style, personal educational needs and learning pathways etc.

The article substantiated the feasibility of using heuristic technologies of studying at the foreign language lessons. The characteristics and peculiarities of heuristic development of material in a foreign language are investigated: the ability independently to define the purpose, tasks, methods of independent educational work, creatively rethink and transform the acquired knowledge and methods of cognitive activity, the ability to create their own educational products (original new knowledge and methods of activity) and to evaluate adequately the process and results of independent cognitive activity. It is noted that heuristic study of a foreign language has a positive effect on the formation of students’ communicative competencies, as it increases their motivation and cognitive activity, relieves tension at the lesson, promotes equal dialogue interaction between subjects of study, facilitates the perception of material, etc. To measure how successfully the formation of students’ communicative competencies was, diagnostic and evaluation complex had been developed through the identification of the quality of their main educational products (reports, dialogues, presentations, etc.) Their quantity and quality become an indicator of the forming of these competencies and creative self-realization in general. Such products are a more motivated goal for them than simply mastering knowledge and skills with their little (if any) further application. The product reflects both mastered knowledge, skills and characteristics of communicative activity. In heuristic learning, the product is the purpose of activity, and motives, knowledge and skills are means to achieve such a goal. It is fundamentally important that without the presence of personal significance of the material being studied, one cannot hope for its development (rethinking, transformation, etc.) at the level of personality. This is essence and complexity of the heuristic approach to learning, because modern society, market relations are not satisfied with the knowledge which is simply remembered. Therefore, there is a need to consider the formation of communicative competencies of medical students from the positions of personally oriented heuristic education. It is proved that heuristic organization of studying a foreign language and its leading component – cognitive and creative independent work – becomes a significant factor in the successful formation and improvement of students’ communication competencies, if they implement a didactically grounded complex of specially selected heuristic methods and prepared tasks necessary for performing independent creative activities oriented to successful professional activity and future doctors’ personal professional development.

The article considers the analysis of the use of verbal and non-verbal methods in the process of learning foreign languages. This article attempts to consider the types of cognitive activity of students in the process of learning foreign languages, including Russian as a foreign language. It contains a synthesis on this topic and practical results of the material implementation developed with the consideration of linguo-cognitive styles of students. Special attention is paid to the analytical cognitive style that is inherent in the students of technical fields. Considering the features of the linguo-cognitive picture of students with a predominantly analytical cognitive style, the authors conclude that these features are innate to the students from European countries who speak European languages and studied within the European educational system. Attention is paid to the consideration of cognitive styles in the existing training materials on RFL. The textbook, created by a group of authors (editor-in-chief Avdeyeva), which is addressed to students of the engineering field, was given as an example. Moreover, the article analyses the special course by Krasnokutskaya, developed at the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute and addressed to European students studying Russian as a foreign language. Based on the analysis and testing of mentioned training materials, conclusions on the feasibility of further development of such manuals are drawn.

The article reveals the concept formation of interactive teaching of foreign languages in higher educational establishments of Ukraine (second half of XX – beginning of XXI centuries). It has been determined that the term "interactive teaching" is relatively new one. Its implementation to the pedagogical thesaurus was carried out in the 90s of XX century, when the concept apparatus of pedagogical science was enriched actively by the research achievements of related sciences. It is proved that the concept "interactive teaching" by itself comes from the term "interactivity", which at that time was widely used in sociology.Based on the analysis of the leading scientific researches: sociological – symbolic interactionism, role theories and reference group theories (H. Blumer, M. Kun, J. Mid etc.), psychological – the concept of humanistic psychology (A. Maslow, K. Rogers, D. Moreno and  others),  social  perceptual  cognitive  theory  (K. Levin,  F. Haider,  T. Newcom, L. Festinger),   pedagogical   −    the   theory   of    active   learning,   studies   concerning intensification of education, providing cognitive activity, formation of educational and dialogical interaction (V. Guzieiev, M. Klarin, E. Polat, V. Slastonin etc.) it has been defined the scientific sources of the concept development of interactive teaching of foreign languages in higher education of Ukraine achievements of the second half of XX – beginning of XXI century. The study found that some scholars attribute concept formation of interactive teaching with the development of the Internet. Studying the phenomenon of interactive teaching in this dimension involves focusing attention on the implementation of information technologies, distance education, usage of Internet resources also e-books and reference books, work online and so on into educational process. At the same time, there is a view that interprets interactive nature of learning with more wider general and pedagogical standpoint as the ability to interact or be in the mode of dialogue with anyone (for example, a human being − teacher, student etc.) or anything (e.g., a computer). The contradiction on the understanding of the term "interactive teaching" lies in the scientific origins of the outlined problem, namely in the history of formation and development of the interactive teaching concept. It was found that the concept development of the interactive teaching of foreign languages was carried out on the basis of the so-called traditional model, which envisages the application of consciously comparative (L. Shcherba) and consciously practical (B. Beliaiev) teaching methods. The necessity to improve the process of teaching foreign languages  has  led  to  the  justification  of  the  intensive  method (H. Lozanov), the method of "enhancing of the individual and collective capabilities" (H. Kytaihorodska), the  method  of  "integrative  linguistic  and  psychological  training" (I. Rumiantseva) etc. It is proved that the scientific researches of the named scholars with the aim of implementing the identified innovations in educational practice have become a driving force in the concept development of interactive teaching of foreign languages in higher education of Ukraine of the study period.
