This chapter focuses on private family chapels. Well known as an effort to claim status through public memorialization, the establishment and operation of such chapels was also legible in terms of pious economy, stewardship, and the virtues of good governance. Enhancing the prestige and memory of their lineages, they also created a mechanism by which earthly coinage could be exchanged for the spiritual currency of prayer, which was both desirable and easily transferable. Its production generated social status, and its strategic circulation enabled prominent Romans to bind themselves to one another and to render their political community more resilient to the instabilities of daily life. Chapel patrons projected an image of themselves as leading members of a rightly ordered society based on a just economy that was at once terrestrial and spiritual. As with the management of lineage patrimony in testaments, the establishment and maintenance of a chapel combined economic virtue with a clear performance of the virtues of good government.

Food is one of the main requirements of human being. It is flattering for the preservation of wellbeing and nourishment of the body.  The food of a society exposes its custom, prosperity, status, habits as well as it help to develop a culture. Food is one of the most important social indicators of a society. History of food carries a dynamic character in the socio- economic, political, and cultural realm of a society. The food is one of the obligatory components in our daily life. It occupied an obvious atmosphere for the augmentation of healthy life and anticipation against the diseases.  The food also shows a significant character in establishing cultural distinctiveness, and it reflects who we are. Food also reflected as the symbol of individuality, generosity, social status and religious believes etc in a civilized society. Food is not a discriminating aspect. It is the part of a culture, habits, addiction, and identity of a civilization.Food plays a symbolic role in the social activities the world over. It’s a universal sign of hospitality.[1]

This chapter summarizes the results of this study: changes in social structure and participation patterns are increasing social-status-based inequality in political participation. Those with higher educational levels, incomes, or occupation have greater political voice, while lower-status individuals are less politically involved. Moreover, the politically rich are getting richer, and the politically poor are getting poorer. The chapter then discusses the implications of these results. The chapter considers claims that participation erodes governance and some form of epistocracy (rule by the knowledgeable) is preferable. Cross-national analysis shows that well-governed democracies have high levels of citizen participation, including both conventional and contentious forms of action. In addition, the size of the SES participation gap is negatively related to good governance. The conclusion discusses ways that democracies might narrow the participation gap and give voice to those citizens who need government support.

Based on the geographical distribution of Nias, it is divided into 4 regions: North Nias, South Nias, East Nias, and West Nias. The focus areas of this research are traditional houses in South Nias, one of which is Omo Sebua (a noble house) in Bawomataluo village. The object of this study was chosen because the traditional house Omo Sebua is rich in traditional Nias decorative symbols on the parts of his house.The purpose of this research is to know the meaning of the symbol on the inside wall of Omo Sebua. This research using qualitative descriptive method with the approach of Visual language to read the symbol. The result of this research reveals that the special Visual language of Omo Sebua tells about the social status and daily life of the Nias people, namely the noble symbol. The symbol is inspired from important events at that time. The symbol also implies that anyone who visits should bow to homeowners. Keywords: Nias; Omo Sebua; symbols; visual Language

Understanding human resource development strategies in good governance service practices are essential. For this reason, we have reviewed several study pieces of evidence to add to the enrichment of our study. The reading sources we are looking for are data-based sources from Google scholars, ERIC publications, and other literature sources. Furthermore, we take the analysis stage by involving the coding system, evaluation, data extract, in-depth interpretation, and drawing conclusions that are valid findings and high reliability because these findings have answered the questions and danced the hypothesis of this study. We depend on secondary data and descriptive qualitative study designs. Based on the discussion of the findings data, we can conclude that the HR governance strategy working in public service organizations is not only required for superior competence, technical skills, and mastery of the underlying laws and regulations, but they are state apparatuses that are even more crucial in shaping mental and behavioral professional, friendly in nurturing, honest, sympathetic, wise, intelligent, and highly responsible.

Government governance that will lead to a good level must be continuously promoted and advertised. This campaign must be continuously carried out in order to create a clean and authoritative government and produce dignified officials. The implementation of good govenance is one of the best concepts of offering a system in democracy. The purpose of this research is to find out how the implementation of good services carried out by the state civil apparatus (ASN) in order to create a clean, dignified and good government. The method used in this research is a deft interview, namely in-depth research or qualitative research. Large organizations that run a bureaucratic system will usually have strict procedures, regulations and rules so that their operational processes tend to be less flexible. Today's bureaucracy is found in government organizations, hospitals, companies, schools, and the military.

ABSTRAK Direvisinya Undang-Undang Desa No. 6/2014 menjadi harapan banyak warga desa, khususnya untuk menjadi institusi mandiri dalam mengelola sumber daya milik desa. Namun banyak kalangan yang meragukan sumber daya manusia desa mampu untuk memenuhi amanat undang-undang tersebut. Menariknya, dari sekian banyak permasalahan implementasi UU Desa, juga tidak sedikit desa yang berhasil berkat otonomi yang diberikan peraturan baru tersebut. Dalam studi fenomenologi ini, peneliti mencoba menggali keberhasilan Desa Dlingo, Bantul, Daerah Isitimea Yogyakarta yang dulunya menjadi desa terpuruk dan kini menjadi desa percontohan dalam pengelolaan dan tata kelola desa. Gagasan ideologi dan pandangan Lurah Dlingo tentang pembangunan desa kemudian dapat digali oleh peneliti. Dalam Pembangunan organisasi, termasuk pemerintahan desa, memahami konsep modern seperti New Public Management atau Good government Governance saja tidak cukup. Bagi beliau tidak hanya soal sistem dan strukturyang perlu dibenahi, tetapi upaya membangikitkan jiwa dan semangat masayarakat desa untuk berdikari (berdiri di atas kaki sendiri) dan saling bergotong-royong adalah yang paling fundamental. Beliau menambahkan, membangun desa adalah membangkitkan kesadaran dan semangat warga desa bahwa mereka ada untuk “benar-benar ada” di tanahnya sendiri, bukan menjadi obyek pembangunan, yang kadang tidak mampu menghadirkan keadilan. Kata kunci: Undang-Undang Desa; Pengelolaan; Tata Kelola; Fenomenologis; Berdikari ABSTRACT The revision of Village Government Law no. 6/2014 is the hope of many villagers, especially to become an independent institution in managing the village's resources. However, many people doubting that human resources in village are able to fulfill the mandate of the law. Interestingly, from the many problems of implementation of the Village Law, there are several villages are successful due to the autonomy given. In this phenomenology study, researcher tried to explore the success of Dlingo Village, Bantul, Daerah Isitimea Yogyakarta which used to be a slumped village where now become role model village in village management and governance. The idea of Dlingo Village ideology and views on village development can then be explored by researcher. In the development of organizations, including village administrations, understanding modern concepts such as New Public Management or Good Governance is not enough. For him it is not just about systems and structures that need to be addressed, but the effort to inculcate the spirit of the village community to be “berdikari” (autonomous) is the most fundamental. He explains that build the village is raising awareness and spirit of the villagers to understand that they exist have to be "really exist" in their own land, rather than being the object of development, which sometimes could not bring justice. Administration officials have broad authority in carrying out the affair of government. With this broad authority tends to be misused to cause harm and injustice in the society, therefore there must be other institutions that control it. Based on the theory of Trigs Politico executive agencies are politically controlled by the legislative and juridical institutions controlled by the judiciary, because the officials running the state administration executive functions that control the judiciary is legally the state administrative court. Judicial control of administrative functions of the state administrative court in addition aims to provide legal protection for the public and state administration officials themselves, as well as state administrative law enforcement agencies who aspire to realize a good and authoritative government. The increasing appreciation of science posed an interesting challenge to art in the late 19th Century. Modernisation, professionalisation, secularisation and technical novelties all seemed to question the social status of the artist. Arguing that one possible way for individual artists to meet this challenge was to incorporate elements of the scientific persona with their artistic self, this article focuses on the Swedish-speaking, Finnish artist and writer Helena Westermarck (1857–1938). While constructing an intellectual comradeship with her brother, the internationally well-known sociologist and anthropologist Edward Westermarck (1862–1939), Helena Westermarck often referred to the exceptional intellectual and analytical capacities of the artist. Arguing that the prestige of science could be used to lend credibility to the artistic persona, the article will discuss some of the ideas that led Westermarck to gradually fashion her public appearance as an artist into the persona of a public intellectual, writer and self-supporting (single) woman on equal terms with her brother.

This chapter outlines three arguments on behalf of a duty to vote: the Agency Argument, the Public Goods Argument, and the Civic Virtue Argument. The Agency Argument held that citizens should bear some causal responsibility in helping to produce and maintain a just social order with adequate levels of welfare. The Agency Argument asserts that voting is necessary to do this. The Public Goods Argument holds that nonvoters unfairly free-ride on the provision of good governance. Failing to vote is like failing to pay taxes—it places a differential burden on others who do the hard work of providing good government. Meanwhile, the Civic Virtue Argument holds that voting is an essential way to exercise civic virtue, and civic virtue is an important moral virtue.
