This study estimates the jobs that can be plausibly done at home in Mexico, using the methodology proposed by Dingel and Neiman (2020a) and the National Occupation and Employment Survey of inegi. The estimate shows us that in Mexico 19.6% of jobs can be done at home, with significant differences between states, types of occupa-tions and even economic sectors. An additional result is that people with higher levels of education have greater possibilities of doing work from home, and that jobs at home is strongly correlated with the gdp per capita and the index of economic complexity of the states. This shows that the most vulnerable jobs due to the contagion by covid-19 are located in primary sectors or elementary activities, in jobs with low levels of educa-tion, which increases the structural differences in the Mexican labor market.

Social networks have a huge potential for the reflection of public opinion, values, and attitudes. In this study, the presented approach can allow to continuously measure how cold “the demographic temperature” is based on data taken from the Russian social network VKontakte. This is the first attempt to analyze the sentiment of Russian-language comments on social networks to determine the demographic temperature (ratio of positive and negative comments) in certain socio-demographic groups of social network users. The authors use generated data from the comments to posts from 314 pro-natalist groups (with child-born reproductive attitudes) and eight anti-natalist groups (with child-free reproductive attitudes) on the demographic topic, which have 9 million of users from all over Russia. The algorithm of the sentiment analysis for demographic tasks is presented in the article. In particularly, it was found that comments under posts are more suitable for analyzing the sentiment of statements than the texts of posts. Using the available data in two types of groups since 2014, we find an asynchronous structural shift in comments of the corpuses of pro-natalist and anti-natalist thematic groups. Interpretations of the evidences are offered in the discussion part of the article. An additional result of our work is two open Russian-language datasets of comments on social networks.

Abstract Motivated by the BPS/CFT correspondence, we explore the similarities be- tween the classical β-deformed Hermitean matrix model and the q-deformed matrix models associated to 3d $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 2 supersymmetric gauge theories on D2×qS1 and $$ {S}_b^3 $$ S b 3 by matching parameters of the theories. The novel results that we obtain are the correlators for the models, together with an additional result in the classical case consisting of the W -algebra representation of the generating function. Furthermore, we also obtain surprisingly simple expressions for the expectation values of characters which generalize previously known results.

AbstractWe report here on results obtained using the SIR epidemic model to study the spring 2020 COVID-19 epidemic in New York City (NYC). An approximate solution is derived for this non-linear system which is then used to derive an expression for the time to maximum infection. Additionally, expressions are obtained for estimating the transmission and recovery parameters using data collected in the first ten days of the epidemic. Values for these parameters are then generated using data reported for the spring 2020 NYC COVID-19 epidemic which are then used to estimate the time to maximum infection and the maximum number of infected. Complete details are given so that the method can be used in the event of future epidemics. An additional result of this study is that we are able to suggest a unique mitigation strategy.

The main purpose of this paper is to obtain criteria for the oscillation of all solutions of a third-order half-linear neutral differential equation. The main result in this paper is an oscillation theorem obtained by comparing the equation under investigation to two first order linear delay differential equations. An additional result is obtained by using a Riccati transformation technique. Examples are provided to show the importance of the main results.

Hantu (in Bahasa Indonesia), or ghosts, are portrayed as the incarnation of monstrous or evil souls wishing to harm humans (Amin et al., 2017). Most modern Indonesians still believe in ghosts, proven by an outgrowing number of ghost films. From the 1970s until the present, more than 320 ghost films have been made and can be differentiated according to each culture, custom, and religion in Indonesia. Indonesian people believe that ghost films in Indonesia are scarier than ghost films from abroad because of a symbolic bond between ghosts and traditional myths represented in the films. For example, one of the ghost films in Indonesia titled Pengabdi Setan or “Satan’s Slaves” that has been watched by 4.2 million moviegoers was using gender (e.g. the fertility of women), occupation (e.g. the profession of artists), and religion (e.g. the role of religious leaders) as the conservative narratives’ symbols. However, based on scientific consensus, the existence of ghosts is not a valid concept and is classified as pseudoscience (Regal, 2009). Yet the existence of ghosts cannot be falsified because of the human belief besides the world’s end and the belief in the spirits of the dead has existed ever since humans embraced animism before humans began writing texts (Bunge, 1999; Briefs et al., 2010; and Nees, 2015). After humans knew letters, studying Indonesian’s belief in ghosts through document theory is almost as important as studying humans’ development in writing. Previous studies on ghost films have been identified from the fields of cinematography, culture, and film criticism, yet they have not been examined through the lens of document theory. This paper aims to understand ghost films in Indonesia through concepts in document theory such as materiality, productivity, and fixity. The results discuss the material aspect of ghost films as documents with informative material regardless of the film’s genre, based on document theory (Otlet, 1934; Briet, 1951). Our findings also show productivity and fixity; for example, ghost films are creatio ex materia as information creation and use are the materials from which ghost films are created (Gorichanaz, 2017) and have the ability to tell the same story over different places and times (Levy, 1994; Narayan, 2015). For instance, ghost-type such as Pocong and Kuntilanak has indicated the concept of ghosts that passed down by previous Indonesian ancestors. This study, however, does not discuss recent efforts to perpetuate those memories through the film, but rather the film as a material is important to analyze through document theory. In terms of productivity, ghost films have the added value of releasing ghosts as materials, triggering the human imagination and our ability to provide evidence of changing epistemic perspectives over space and time. In terms of fixity, our study opens opportunities for further research, such as fluidity, floating fixity, authenticity, and other aspects with which to analyze ghost films as (digital) documents. As an additional result, drawing from Foucault’s panopticon concept (Foucault, 1970; Wood, 2003), we found that perpetuating the power from which people have unconsciously been mentally controlled is a kind of panopticism. Since documents function as panopticons, ghost films have provided power and will “discipline” people because these ghost stories can be haunting and frightening. Thus, the panopticon metaphor in ghost films emphasizes the internalization of external surveillance rationales so that people have accepted these rationales as part of the self-practices because they can never be sure the hidden others are watching them (Lupton, 2016).

The study examined the influence of customer loyalty, consumer animosity and purchase intention on consumer ethnocentrism. The research was a cross-sectional survey which made use of purposive sampling technique to select 196 (males = 109; females = 87) undergraduates from two public universities in Nigeria. Standardized scales that measured customer loyalty, consumer animosity, purchase intention and consumer ethnocentrism were adapted into a questionnaire format and used for data collection after theywere revalidated for cultural relevance. Three hypotheses were tested in the study. Results showed significant positive relationships among customer loyalty, consumer animosity, purchase intention and consumer ethnocentrism (p<.01). Additional result revealed significant independent and combined influence of customer loyalty, consumer animosity and purchase intention on consumer ethnocentrism. However, gender did not influence consumer ethnocentrism. It was concluded that customer loyalty, consumer animosity and purchase intention were strongly related to consumer ethnocentrism. The findings of the study were discussed alongside recommendation.

The Reed-Muller-Fourier is reviewed and a new property is presented: The Reed-Muller-Fourier transform of an n-place p-valued function preserves any permutation of the arguments. This leads to the additional result that the Reed-Muller-Fourier spectrum of an n-place p-valued symmetric function is also symmetric. Furthermore, the Reed-Muller and the Vilenkin-Chrestenson spectra of an n-place p-valued symmetric function are also symmetric.

Abstract Contrary to the common assumption, the Luwian word for ‘place’, hidden under the logogram <LOCUS> in Anatolian hieroglyphic transmission, is genetically unrelated to Hittite pēda- (n.) ‘place’. Based on synchronic combinatory evidence, it can be assigned the phonological interpretation /allV(n)t-/ (n.). Its closest demonstrable cognates are Kizzuwatna Luwian /arlanuwa-i/ ‘to replace, relocate’ and Lydian arlil(i)- ‘belonging to the homestead, household’, which suggests the reconstruction of *arl(a)- ‘place’ at an earlier stage of the Luwian language. The Luwian and Lydian words treated in this paper are likely to be ultimately derived from the Anatolian verbal root ‘to stand’ (cf. Hittite artari ‘stands’). The original meaning of Hittite pēda- was possibly ‘plain’. An additional result of this article consists in the improved understanding of several Luwian and Lydian passages.
