Character building needs to be given as early as possible. Educational toys can be a medium for character building, but it is still rare to find educational toys that have local cultural values. Most of these educational toys refer to popular toys that are oriented towards Western culture. This condition needs to be balanced with the creation of educational toys that have local cultural characteristics as a form of early childhood introduction to their culture as well as a medium for educators to internalize character building. The process of creating educational toys in this paper uses methodological steps that are described in a descriptive qualitative way, starting from data collection, data analysis, and the embodiment process. In this paper, will be described the process of creating educational toys in the form of amigurumi with the theme of Ramayana, represented by the characters Rama and Sinta which visual ideas are based on Kamasan-style puppet paintings and an analysis of their use for early childhood character building. The benefits of using Rama and Sinta amigurumi dolls in learning are: as a visual literacy of local culture for early childhood and as an interesting medium for conveying character building values.

Purpose Young children often enter formal schooling with a range of digital experiences, including using apps on tablets and engaging with interactive educational toys. The convergence and increased accessibility of digital resources has made it more convenient for young children to navigate multiple modes (e.g. words, images, sound and movement) as they construct meaning across many different texts. The purpose of the study is to examine affordances and choices when students compose multimodal texts. Design/methodology/approach Three lines of inquiry support this study: the social construction of writing practices, multiliteracies and multimodality and intertextuality. Data analysis used an iterative two-tiered process of reading, rereading and coding students’ multimodal compositions and supplemental field notes (Creswell, 1998; Strauss and Corbin, 1998). Findings Analysis of the 23 multimodal compositions revealed three significant findings related to choice and affordances of multimodal texts: the popularity of Minecraft as a topic choice based on the social interactions of students; semiotic concurrence and semiotic complementarity and sophisticated use of literary techniques (e.g. nonlinear structures, shifting point of view, asides and emojis) across the multimodal stories, particularly those that carried Minecraft themes. Originality/value Students’ intentionality with the modes in their compositions suggested they were fully aware of the “complexity, interrelatedness and interdependence between image [animation and sound] and language” (Shanahan, 2013, p. 213).

This paper reviews the characteristics of emergence formation and development of the Inclusive Design field. As it points out year after year the number of children with health disabilities is increasing, unfortunately. The research has shown that various rehabilitation tools should be developed for disabled children's more successful socialization, development and education. The authors suggests the technical means of rehabilitation classification based on the main material of manufacturing, which includes textile means of rehabilitation. Textile means of rehabilitation are an extensive list of products, comprising inclusive and rehabilitation clothing, technical equipment (for example, fixers for sedentary and bed patients of various purposes) also developing educational aids, as well as textile developing educational toys. Textile materials are differentiated by raw material composition, texture, physical properties, color scheme. This variety allows quick and convenient creation of various rehabilitation means with minimal material costs. Additional multifactorial capabilities are provided by the fact that products can be made from combinations of different textile materials, as well as complement products from other materials. Methods (transformations, combinatorics, etc.) and principles (adaptability, etc.) are defined, which contribute to solving certain problems of designing textile rehabilitation means. The paper comes up with an integrated approach to the design of such rehabilitation devices, which will allow designing products that have the greatest rehabilitation effectiveness. The authors also provide the classification of textile means of rehabilitation on a basis of purpose.

This research is in response to the question of which aspects of package design are more relevant to consumers, when purchasing educational toys. Neuromarketing techniques are used, and we propose a methodology for predicting which areas attract the attention of potential customers. The aim of the present study was to propose a model that optimizes the communication design of educational toys’ packaging. The data extracted from the experiments was studied using new analytical models, based on machine learning techniques, to predict which area of packaging is observed in the first instance and which areas are never the focus of attention of potential customers. The results suggest that the most important elements are the graphic details of the packaging and the methodology fully analyzes and segments these areas, according to social circumstance and which consumer type is observing the packaging.

Early childhood educators are not only expected to be professional in teaching but also in developing educational toys (ET). As a prospective Early Childhood Education (ECE) teacher, students who are taking lectures in the ECE program should have an early opportunity to increase their potential in developing ET. However, the ability of students to develop ET is still limited, and the design does not cover the entire content of child development. This study aims to recognize to what extent students' ability of Early Childhood Islamic Education programs can improve in developing educational toys based on all aspects of child development through participating in a study group. This research is a qualitative approach with 25 participants of the study group Data collection is conducted by observation, documentation, and interviews. The results showed that; (1) the ability of students in developing ET has emphasized all aspects of child development, (2) APE study groups can improve students' abilities and motivation in developing ET. The effectiveness of ET, which has been become products, can be identified in further research
