Both insects and mammals all exhibit a daily fluctuation of susceptibility to chemicals at different times of the day. However, this phenomenon has not been further studied in the house fly (Musca domestica L.) and a better understanding of the house fly on chronobiology should be useful for controlling this widespread disease vector. Here we explored diel time-of-day variations in insecticide susceptibility, enzyme activities, and xenobiotic-metabolizing enzyme gene expressions. The house fly was most tolerant to beta-cypermethrin in the late photophase at Zeitgeber time (ZT) 8 and 12 [i.e., 8 and 12 h after light is present in the light-dark cycle (LD)]. The activities of cytochrome P450, GST, and CarE enzymes were determined in the house flies collected at various time, indicating that rhythms occur in P450 and CarE activities. Subsequently, we observed diel rhythmic expression levels of detoxifying genes, and CYP6D1 and MdαE7 displayed similar expression patterns with enzyme activities in LD conditions, respectively. No diel rhythm was observed for CYP6D3 expression. These data demonstrated a diel rhythm of metabolic detoxification enzymes and insecticide susceptibility in M. domestica. In the future, the time-of-day insecticide efficacy could be considered into the management of the house fly.

In the period June 22 to September 24, 2012 São José dos Campos region experienced dry climate with low relative humidity. The net rain intensity measured in this period was 60 mm/h and the relative humidity range between 30% to 40% on most days. The intensity of gamma radiation from 0.03 to 10.0 MeV, in the measurement period presents a daily fluctuation well clearly, and some small increases when there is rainfall.  These measures were realized at ITA's campus with a scintillator of NaI(Tl), photomultiplier and associated electronics laptop to a Dell 630 PC. A data acquisition interface purchased from (Aware Eletronics, USA) provides a file with measurements versus time, in the range from minute to minute recorded in txt. It was observed that the variation of gamma radiation in the interface soil/air at the region is originating from the local radon gas dynamics and of the presence of wind shear near the ground level.

Young women often complain about the daily fluctuation of their facial skin conditions. However, no objective study has been carried out on such changes. This study is aimed at quantitatively elucidating daily skin fluctuation and evaluating the efficacy of cosmetic skin care treatment. We developed the first portable and self-guided facial skin imaging device (eMR Pro) to reproducibly capture facial images at home. Two 8 week clinical studies were then conducted to analyze daily skin fluctuation of facial pore areas, roughness and redness in young Japanese women (n = 47 in study 1 and n = 57 in study 2) by collecting facial images three times a day, during the morning after wake-up, during the morning after face wash, and during the evening after face wash. After a 4 week baseline measurement period (week -4 to week -1), all subjects applied Galactomyces ferment filtrate (GFF, Pitera®) skin care formula twice a day for 4 weeks (week 1 to week 4). These three skin conditions did exhibit different fluctuation patterns. The pore area and roughness showed the “morning after wake-up”-largest fluctuation pattern, whereas redness showed the “evening after face wash”-largest fluctuation pattern. GFF treatment significantly reduced the net values and delta fluctuation of pore area, roughness, and redness, which were consistently observed in two studies. In conclusion, the daily fluctuation of facial skin conditions is potentially a new target field for investigating healthy skin maintenance.

Interbank offer rate is the interest rate at which banks lend money to each other in the money market. As a market-oriented core interest rate, Shibor can accurately and timely reflect the capital supply and demand relationship in the money market, and its changes will quickly transmit and affect China’s financial market. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to predict and study the fluctuation and trend of Shibor. In this paper, the overnight varieties of Shibor were studied and predicted from two time dimensions, namely, daily fluctuation and monthly trend. In the prediction of overnight Shibor daily data, a comparison prediction model based on BP neural network algorithm was first established, and then WNN was applied in the prediction, and the effect was found to be better. When predicting the monthly mean value of overnight Shibor, nine indicators were selected and tested for correlation based on the factors affecting the trend of interest rate, and a regression model of support vector machine was established. Particle swarm optimization algorithm was used to improve the SVR algorithm, and the PSO-SVR prediction model was established to improve the prediction accuracy. The model could basically predict the trend of overnight Shibor. Furthermore, a prediction model of WNN based on cuckoo search (CS) optimization was proposed, which improved the prediction accuracy by 78% and fitted the daily fluctuation of overnight Shibor well.

Why do some people maintain stable feelings of commitment toward their partners, whereas others’ feelings wax and wane from day to day? The current paper draws insight from decision conflict research suggesting that individuals torn between decision options are particularly susceptible to attitude change. In three samples, we validated a stay/leave ambivalence scale to capture internal conflict about whether to remain in versus exit a relationship. In two dyadic daily experience studies, individuals who felt more ambivalent about their relationships experienced greater daily fluctuation in commitment and breakup contemplation compared to less ambivalent individuals. Ambivalent individuals’ relationship intentions were also more strongly tied to their daily experiences, such that they felt more motivated to stay on days with greater relationship positivity, and more motivated to leave on days with greater relationship negativity. We discuss implications of these results for ambivalent individuals, their partners, and our understanding of stay/leave decision processes.

Abstract Abusive supervision impacts employees’ emotions negatively and creates feelings of shame and fear. But it remains unclear how daily employees’ positive and negative emotions are affected and if they can recover. Applying the affective event theory and job demands-resources model we hypothesized that daily abusive supervision influences employees’ positive and negative emotions fluctuation over the day, recovery after work, and employee emotions the next morning. Two daily surveys were answered by 52 Mexican employees for ten days providing 347 registers in the morning and 255 in the afternoon. Hierarchical linear modeling shows alteration of positive and negative emotions in the afternoon and next day, and a positive effect over recovery in relaxation, mastery and control restoring positive emotions. However, negative emotions cannot be recovered for the following day. Additionally, we found effects of predictive variables, as the days of the week go by, positive emotions in the afternoon and negative emotions in the morning decrease. Gender shows for men a more negative effect on positive emotions in the afternoon, next morning and on mastery-recovery. Marital status revealed effect over married individuals incrementing the four recovery dimensions, increasing positive emotions, and reducing negative emotions in the afternoon and next morning. Tenure has an effect over abusive supervision, the longer employees in the company, more likely they suffer abusive supervision. We show how employees restore positive emotions after daily recovery and that negative emotions cannot be recovered for the following day; revealing how abusive managers cause emotional damage to employees every day.

The intracranial pressure (ICP) show large daily fluctuation, mainly due to postural changes and physical activity (e.g. it goes up to 470 mmH2O under Valsalva manoeuvre1). Consequently, the dural sinus must be sufficiently rigid in order to avoid its collapse during cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) pressure peaks. Hereby, we describe a patient with collapsible dural sinus associated with an intracranial hypertension syndrome without a detectable raised ICP, suggesting that a number of crucial assumptions on idiopathic intracranial hypertension with (IIH) or without papilledema (IIHWOP) might be discussed.

Abstract Purpose: Recent studies report daily fluctuations in stress among family caregivers of older individuals with dementia. Several studies focused on daily stressors or behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia and use of adult day services. Most previous studies on daily fluctuations of caregivers’ stress have used a daily diary approach. This approach involves creating multiple daily reports, making it possible to examine between-person differences and within-person processes of change. However, only few studies used this approach for family caregivers in Asian countries. Therefore, this study examines the applicability of a daily diary approach for Japanese family caregivers and the effects of formal care services on their stress and depression. Methods: Participants were 13 family caregivers of individuals with dementia using formal care services in a rural area in Japan. They were assessed through self-administered questionnaires including use or nonuse of formal care services, caregiving stressors (DASC-8), depressive symptoms (K-6), and caregiving stress for 7 days. Generalized linear mixed models (GLMM) with data nested within persons were used to examine the effects of formal services on stress and depression. Results: For the GLMM procedure, this study used caregiving stressors and stress variables as fixed effects and participants as random effects. Results indicated that use of formal services significantly lowered caregivers’ stress and depression. Conclusion: The findings demonstrate the applicability of a daily diary approach and the effectiveness of formal services on the stress of Japanese family caregivers.
