This study aims to review the sustainability of Trunthung Music that shapes an ecosystem within the context of eco-culture. The study belongs to the nature of qualitative research with an interdisciplinary approach and several ecological concepts that reflect the culture of the peasant community over the slope of Merbabu Mountain in Magelang. The study itself is conducted in Warangan Hamlet and Gejayan Hamlet, the Regency of Magelang. The data are gathered through observation, documentation, and in-depth interviews with the informants related to the Trunthung Music. Then, the source triangulation technique is implemented through the test of trustworthiness by inspecting the data on the development of Trunthung Music toward the artists in Warangan Hamlet and the members of Lima Gunung Community. The data that have been attained from various sources are described, categorized, and eventually analyzed so that the ecosystem of Trunthung Music that has been on the progress can be identified. The results of the study show that Trunthung Music has been a performance that combines sonoric, kinesthetic, and visual dimensions, including their association with the natural condition and the peasant life over the Slope of Merbabu. The dialectics of Trunthung Music and the components of its ecosystem are in interaction with one another, resulting in the sustainability of the music until the present days. Then, the components of such ecosystem are the local agents who create the Trunthung Music and their interaction with the art community, be it with the Lima Gunung Community in the context of the Regency of Magelang and with the artists living outside the Regency of Magelang. In addition, the presence of Trunthung Music is associated with the traditional rites in the Warangan Hamlet, such as Nyadran Kali and Tapak Jaran Sembrani. All of these activities have good correlations among music, environment, and culture within the context of eco-culture.

As of two cases in this study which were carried out in Madrid as social practices in art, community methodologies have been detailed as practiced in order to formalize collaborative creation proposed by each one. El Beso (The Kiss) (2018) and Cuentos que nunca cuentan (Tales that are never told) (2010) were carried out by the artist Toxic Lesbian with the participation of institutions such as Medialab-Prado and Intermediae, both of which are integrated in Matadero Madrid, Contemporary art creation center of the City Hall of Madrid. Both cases involved participation of the most directly concerned audiences because of the themes undertaken: migrant women in El Beso (The Kiss) and collectives of directly involved people in mental health in Cuentos que Nunca Cuentan (Tales that are never told). The proposals presupposed intervention in the public space of the city for their production and involved a wide representation of activists and elements of social or cultural institutions. This qualitative análisis of the processes and testimonies of the agents that participated seeks delving into the motivations of communities to become involved in this type of development, the role played by institutions or the inevitable politization of the proposals by the administrative structures that finance them.

The goal of the article is to draw attention of the art community to the little‑known memoirs of Leonid Chernov (1915–1990), a famous Ukrainian graphic artist, professor of Kharkiv Art and Industrial Institute. These memoirs are called A Word about Alma Mater and exist as a 120‑page self‑published book. They provide an opportunity for modern readers to learn firsthand how art education was organized in Kharkiv Art College and Kharkiv Art Institute in the 1930s–1950s. The original text is kept in the artist’s family and exists only as a single typewritten copy. In recent decades, about a dozen scholars have had the opportunity to get acquainted with the literary heritage of L. Chernov. Only some theses from this unique text have been quoted in individual academic papers. Chernov’s memoirs are valuable both in terms of literary merit and in terms of truthful testimony about the aspirations and feelings of the author himself and the people close to him, about real historical facts and personalities with whom his fate and the fate of his home university were closely related. L. Chernov wanted to publish his memoirs in the form of an illustrated photo album, back in the 1980s. However, something then thwarted his intentions. At this stage, with the permission of the artist’s family, one of the fragments of such valuable material – the author’s theses to the memoirs and the first section of the main text is published. Unique photo documents from the artist’s albums are published together with the text.

Some art works are described in details: paintings of Russian artists of the late 19th and early 20th centuries and Soviet artists, including painters from Murmansk and members of “The Arctic” creative team in 1978–1985. The authors analysed, how social and economic development of the Kola Arctic region influenced new art styles and directions: from plein air painting under the Extreme North conditions to industrial landscapes and creation of an art community. In the world history of art, various graphic techniques for making and printing works of art have had their own names: etching, woodcut, linocut, lithography, etc. The new definitions of the 21st century sound quite reasonable: “Flowinggraphics” and “Fluid Fusion”, based on technological and chemical discoveries work with acrylic paints. The purpose of my article is to acquaint the art community with new techniques and terms.
