Based on this background, the authors are interested in examining more deeply with research questions, namely why book authors tend to take source culture as material and what are real examples of cultural values reflected in textbooks. The research method used in this study is a qualitative research method with the type of library research. Thus the data collection method used is observation. Observations were made on three journals that have been selected as data for analysis, namely analysis of the cultural content of third grade English textbooks in Cianjur, West Java, Cultural content in Indonesian case English teaching textbooks (ELT), Analysis of cultural content in Pathway textbooks. to English for the second grade of high school. The theory used as an analytical knife is the theory of Cortazzi and Jin (1999) which examines culture. The results of the analysis show that there is a tendency for the authors to choose local culture as a teaching material, as evidenced by 13.11% in Faris journal, 45% in Kurnia journal and 19% in Nurjannah journal who choose source culture as teaching material. The reason the author chooses source culture as source material is because the material is easily understood by the participants of the source culture, the source culture is easily found in real terms, the delivery of the source culture can help preserve the culture itself so that it does not become extinct, the source culture material can broaden students' horizons because of its diversity in Indonesia.Source cultural materials can indirectly foster nature and mutual respect for cultural differences between one another.

The Russian ethnographer V. A. Moshkov was a general in rank and a member of the Russian Geographical Society and seriously studied the traditions and life of the peoples inhabiting the Russian Empire. At the end of the 19th century, he began to research the Gagauz people. The research “The Gagauz of Bendery Uyezd”, published in the journal “Ethnographic Review” at the beginning of the 20th century was published as a result of V. A. Moshkov’s travels. Thanks to V. A. Moshkov, the general public learned about the small Orthodox people living on the area of a small region in the south of Bessarabia – the Gagauz. This article examines the multifaceted activities of the researcher aimed at highlighting various aspects of traditional culture – material culture, as well as customs, rituals, beliefs and folklore. It is noted that V. A. Moshkov tried to study the problem of human origin. It is curious that he was prompted to consider this issue because of his acquaintance with the material and spiritual culture of the Gagauz people, in which the scientist found parallels with other peoples not related to the Gagauz people by a common origin. The authors emphasize the role of the Gagauz scholars who have devoted their attention to studying the scientific heritage of V. A. Moshkov in the preservation and development of the identity of the Gagauz ethnos.

ABSTRACT Objectives: to analyze the microbiological profile of leg ulcers of patients treated at outpatient clinics and hospitals regarding the type of microorganism, microbiological selection of antibiotics, and techniques for the collection of culture material. Methods: literature review performed on LILACS, IBECS, MEDLINE, and CINAHL databases, resulting in a descriptive analysis of 27 studies. Results: 35.7% of the studies occurred in an outpatient care scenario; and 64.2% in hospitals. There was a predominance of swab (100%) in outpatient care and biopsy (55.5%) in the hospital. Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Staphylococcus aureus were more common at both levels of assistance. Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus was isolated in both. Conclusions: the microbiological profile of infections was similar, with the presence of resistant bacteria in both environments. This fact causes concern and raises the need for research to elucidate it. The studies did not compare the effectiveness between biopsy and swab.

Diplodiosis is an important neuromycotoxicosis of ruminants in South Africa when grazing on harvested maize fields in winter. It is believed to be caused by mycotoxin(s) synthesised by Stenocarpella (Diplodia) maydis. Although several metabolites have been isolated from S. maydis culture material, none of these have been administered to ruminants to reproduce the disease. The objectives of this study were to isolate diplodiatoxin and to administer it to juvenile goats. Diplodiatoxin, considered as a major metabolite, was purified from S. maydis-infected maize cultures (Coligny 2007 isolate). Following intravenous administration of 2 mg and 4 mg diplodiatoxin/kg body weight for five consecutive days to two juvenile goats, no clinical signs reminiscent of diplodiosis were observed. Based on previous experimental results and if diplodiatoxin was the causative compound, the dosage regimen employed was seemingly appropriate to induce diplodiosis. In addition, intraruminal administration of 2 mg/kg diplodiatoxin to one goat for three consecutive days also did not induce clinical signs. It appears as if diplodiatoxin alone is not the causative compound. Other metabolites and/or mixtures of diplodiatoxin and other mycotoxins, when available in sufficient quantities, should also be evaluated.

The methodical techniques and the methods of using language and culture material when teaching Ukrainian folklore are determined in the article. Ukrainian proverbs, sayings, songs, which reflect the vision of the Ukrainian people of female beauty, are language and culture material in this instance. The topicality of the research is caused by the extensive use of folkloric material in all modern languages with a didactic purpose and necessity of research in the ethnolinguoculturological aspect of language units that designate national and cultural stereotypes. The folklore of any nation belongs to the eternal phenomena; it is impossible to imagine the existence of a nation without it. National culture and specific features of mentality become known through folklore. Folklore helps to recreate the traits of any particular people, the development of ideas about different things. The use of proverbs in speech is an important indicator of language proficiency level. Working with proverbs and sayings helps to develop skills of speech activity. The studying of proverbs and sayings expands the students’ knowledge about language, form their aesthetic taste, desire to perfect their vocabulary. It improves speech culture, speaking skills, readiness for debating in Ukrainian. The increased use of proverbs enriches the spoken and written language. The use of proverbs adds originality, expressiveness, individuality, imagery and aphoristic nature to a person’s speech. Learning proverbs or sayings, students translate them into their language, comprehend and search for similar ones in their language. Discussing and comparing Ukrainian proverbs and sayings with proverbs and sayings in their native language, students develop skills in speaking, reading, and writing. Perspectives of further research are studies of the features of teaching language and culture material to foreign philological students and further development of new teaching material for the course “Ukrainian folklore”.

Whether it is on a limited or a mass scale, coffee has long been an industrial commodity. In the social context, it can be even a social glue of interaction between individuals or communities. The claims have, indeed, implied the value of the beans. Certain elements take part in the making of the so-called coffee popularity. From a cultural perspective, the existence of material and non-material aspects of culture can be the keys. This study aims to identify and to inventory the aspects of material and non-material culture of one of world-famous coffeehouses, Starbucks. The data were obtained through library study. The main data as well as the objects of the study are information contained on the official Starbucks’ website. Other supporting data were taken from other relevant sources. Based on the study, the two aspects of culture, material and non-material, can be found in the American coffee company. The classifications of both were also made to fulfill the need of the further study.
