As part of the measures to contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus in Nigeria during the early stages of the pandemic, a lockdown of movements within and from outside the country was declared by the federal government. This article presents findings on food-related coping strategies adopted during the COVID-19 lockdown in Nigeria. A cross sectional survey using an online based questionnaire received responses from 883 households regarding information on food consumption, health seeking behaviour and food coping strategies during the COVID-19 lockdown. Food Coping Strategy Index (FCSI) was computed from the data received based on standard methods. Analysis and presentation of data was done using descriptive and inferential statistics. The key findings show that daily mealtimes generally reduced from an average of 3 to 2 times. The storage capacity of households showed an average of 2-week food stock of staples, and most of the respondents had started reducing either their usual portion sizes or frequency of meals in order to cope with food shortages. As regards health seeking behavior, older respondents were more likely to take prophylactic medication (p<0.004) and there was a higher preference for fruits and Vitamin C as prophylactic items. A negative correlation between FCSI with mealtime during COVID-19 lockdown (p<0.000) and monthly income (p<0.000) was observed. The findings presented provide information for policy intervention in the areas of social safety nets and palliatives disbursement in the event of similar lockdown restrictions in the future.

Aims: This study was conducted to study the impact of customer behavior on e-business in Jordan in light of the increasing spread of the virus. Study Design: A quantitative research. Place and Duration of Study: Jordan, between January - September 2020. Methodology: The Statistical Analysis Software (SPSS) software is used by the researcher. The survey questionnaires framed by the researcher are helping the researcher in representing the data appropriately Results: The results showed that online purchase was acceptable and high during the Corona pandemic period despite the complete paralysis of movement Before the customer so that there is an alternative in emergency and necessary cases such as the Corona pandemic and the need to take into account the terms and behavior of the consumer when advertising, selling or promoting the commodity on electronic sales platforms. Conclusion: Through the foregoing according to the data analysis carried out above shows the negative impact on e-business in Jordan due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) the negative impact created affects sales as well as the purchasing behavior of customers. The business environment in Jordan is seen as weak due to COVID-19. The challenges that retailers in the e-commerce business face is declining customer buying behavior. Also, lower buying behavior reduces bids and shipping as per the surveys carried out this will lead to the deterioration of the e-business as well as huge losses that the e-business will incur. Research questions as well as research objectives set by the researcher a greater impact has been made on the current e-business in the Jordanian market. Buy food products from food stock for this reason. And the hypothesis of the research papers he developed lies a change in food contamination. For this reason, human-to-human contact is restricted which leads to the deterioration of e-commerce sales. Thus the presented analysis supports for this reason a greater impact has been created on the existing e-business in the Jordanian market since there is a concern of the buyer that with Delivery of food products through the electronic company.

Globalization is the massive, systematic spread of American culture and its lifestyle throughout the world. The lifestyle of consuming fast food is constructe as a modern, current and global lifestyle through regulatory and deep capture with the sophistication of advertising propagated through communication media. Propaganda messages through communication media make cultural colonization by homogenizing food tastes in the world, so delegitimizes and distorts local food prestige. People no longer see traditional food as cultural identity. This study examines the effectiveness of YouTuber Carlos in popularizing traditional foods to foreign countries. The qualitative descriptive approach with observation, document and literatures reviews and interviews with informants. This study finds that Nex Carlos' Youtube account functions effectively in globalizing local food with well interactive communication and intimate emotional bonds. Para social interaction makes viewers to see food vlogger as role model, counselor, and entertained which eventually leads to recommended adoption. As a cultural product, local culinary consumption been seen as a counterculture to the incessant global fast food propaganda. The use of biodiesel fuel converted from vegetable-based oil are continuously increasing due sustainability and environment concerns. It is important to increase the portion of converted fuel from non-edible sources to reduce the use of food stock. In this study, the tribological properties of stainless-steel material was investigated when lubricated by two kinds of methyl esters converted from non-edible vegetable oils, i.e. Cerbera oil and Rubber seeds oil. The friction and wear were investigated by using a ball-on-disk tribometer at severe friction condition. The results show that the wear of material lubricated by both methyl esters was much smaller than that lubricated by petrol diesel fuel. At temperature of 27°C, the worn area on the ball specimens for the case of Cerbera and Rubber seeds methyl esters were 0.396 mm2 and 0.391 mm2 compared to 3.642 mm2 for the case of petroleum diesel fuel. At 80°C, they were 0.410 mm2 and 0.429 mm2 compared to 4.152 mm2 for the case of petroleum diesel fuel. This shows that both Cerbera and Rubber seeds methyl esters has a good tribological properties comparable to other methyl esters sources used for mineral diesel fuel substitute.

Abstract Objectives In this qualitative study, we examined the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on motivations, decision-making, and food shopping among dollar store shoppers in Fresno, CA and Boston, MA. Eligible participants were ≥18 years old, lived in Boston or Fresno, spoke English or Spanish, and shopped at a dollar store within the past month. Methods Using convenience sampling, participants were recruited via flyers at 10 dollar stores in low-income neighborhoods in Fresno and Boston and posts in community Facebook groups. Interviews in Boston (n = 25) and Fresno (n = 26) were conducted remotely from August-December 2020. Results Our participants were primarily low-income, English-speaking women who shopped at dollar stores about once per week. Preliminary qualitative content analysis shows that key shopper motivations included low prices, product variety, and convenience. Shelf-stable foods and snacks were frequently purchased, especially for children. Shoppers in Fresno relied more on dollar stores for groceries and fresh produce, while Boston shoppers primarily purchased shelf-stable foods or snacks. Shoppers in both cities desired increased availability of fresh foods. Shoppers reported fear of shopping, limited stock, financial stress, and fewer trips early in the pandemic. Shopping increased by summer. Shoppers with children reported increased food expenditures during the pandemic, including at dollar stores, as closed schools meant that children consumed meals at home. Conclusions Dollar stores continue to be an important food resource despite challenges related to the pandemic. Considering frequent use, food purchases, and desire for more fresh foods among shoppers, dollar stores chains may find a receptive audience for increasing their fresh food stock. Abstract Objectives Lockdowns due to COVID-19 had health, economic, social, and political consequences globally. This study examined if the early impact of COVID-19 on livelihoods and food security differed between rural and urban areas in six Asia-Pacific countries. Methods Secondary data analysis was conducted in May 2029 using a total of 13,522 household survey data collected cross-sectionally among socially disadvantaged populations through a World Vision's rapid response assessment (n = 13,522) in Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Philippines, Myanmar, and Vietnam. Changes in food expenditure, availability of various food items, and accessibility and affordability of essential items (staple food, fresh foods, medicine, and hygiene) were tested between rural and urban areas using multivariate logistic regressions, accounting for confounding variables. Results Job loss or reduced income was prevalent (rang: 54.1%–89.6%), higher in urban than rural areas in all six countries. A higher percentage of households reduced food expenditure in urban areas (53.0%–80.3%) than in rural areas (34.2%–66.4%) in India, Myanmar, and Vietnam (all P &lt; 0.001). The proportion of households having no food stock varied in six countries (13.4%-66.0%), with lower odds of available food stocks in urban areas than rural areas (OR range in Bangladesh, India, and Myanmar: 0.30–0.53, all P &lt; 0.05). Access to essential items was moderate to high depending on the type of item. Essential medicines were more accessible in urban than in rural areas with an OR range of 1.88–5.63 in India, Myanmar, and Vietnam. Household affordability was low particularly for rent (3.8%-16.6%) and loan repayment (3.3%-19.9%), with higher affordability for rent payments in urban than in rural areas with an OR range of 1.98–22.2 across four countries (P &lt; 0.05). Access and affordability for essential items were better in urban areas than in rural areas in Vietnam. Conclusions Disproportional differences were found in experiencing food security and livelihoods between rural and urban areas in six Asia Pacific countries. An understanding of the differential implications of lockdowns related to COVID-19 by residence can inform specifically recovery policies and guide mitigation efforts. Funding Sources N/A

Depending on the natural and geographical environment, the food supply of a single ethnic group or community in a region is based on. Just as the natural environment caters to the food supply, so too does the diet seem to be accepted by all. Therefore, there is a difference between the food security of the people living in the desert and the food security of the people living in the coastal areas. If you look at it from that side it is a combination of innumerable hills and plain areas. The diversity of its geographical and natural environment is remarkable. There are many rivers and sub-rivers like Brahmaputra, Dihing, Dichang etc that flows through the chest of the Assam. Therefore Assam is also known as reverie area (mother zone of river). The climate of Assam is neither hot nor cold. As well as the climate, Assam is naturally a fairly pristine state. Due to the abundance of paddy in Assam; rice is the staple food of these people. In this article we will discuss about vegetables, fish, and meat drinks etc. which are taken with rice.

Abstract The realm of refrigeration industry has marked its significance for storing food and beverages. Refrigeration warehouses are extensively used to store various combinations of large fresh food stock at favourable temperatures to maintain its quality. Any deviations from these favourable temperatures pose negative impacts on the cold stock. Hence, it is essential to minimize the margin of these potential risks that can incur huge loss to the cold-storage industries. On-site evaluation can be reliable to address these risks, but it is time consuming and an inefficient process as human intervention can be prone to manual errors. The paper, therefore, proposes a methodology to build a smart IoT system to remotely monitor and evaluate the refrigeration warehouses seamlessly at one’s fingertips using a mobile or laptop through dashboards. Furthermore, this paper addresses the difficulties in managing and analysing the large sensory data which are the result of seamless monitoring by unleashing the power of edge computing and cloud computing.

Lack of animal food availability to meet the needs of food security in Indonesia causes the government to import to various countries so that food stock needs are safe, this indicates that our country still depends on other countries to meet the needs of animal food, the lack of adequate empowerment of Ternak farmers, especially in West Sumatra made the writer to be the background for this research. To solve the problem of the lack of empowerment of Ternak farmers, the government has made innovations, by making the I application of Ternak and the application of data grouping . The method used in this research is descriptive by conducting interviews with several sources with qualitative analysis, the results obtained that the application provides benefits to Ternak farmers, this can be seen by increasing investors and increasing coordination between Ternak farmers.

Sustainable development values and concepts of responsible consumption, sharing, waste-free production and recycling are becoming more and more popular among organisations and consumers. Though food-sharing has not yet become as popular as car-sharing, it aims to solve important social food policy problems of decreasing food waste and redistributing food to support those in need. Basing on research literature, and publications in business media the paper presents the results of content analysis of materials from food-sharing platforms and websites in Russia. Authors compare foreign best practices, identify the main food-sharing models: exchange with monetary compensation, gratuitous transfer (charity), and food-sharing within the neighbouring community Problems and unresolved food-sharing issues are explained, such as lack of information about available options of food-sharing, low trust of consumers to the quality of food being shared and perception of using charitable food stock as something shameful. The paper maps possible directions for the development of food-sharing considering the existing international experience.
