Abstract The article is dedicated to the study of the heat transfer processes that occur in the feedstuff disinfection chamber that relies upon electric contact heating. The mechanism of the temperature gradient appearance, which is the main cause of the heat losses has been investigated. The basic equations of heat conduction are considered. A method is proposed for determining the key parameters of the heat transfer process. A functional diagram of the experimental setup with a description of the operation of individual units is presented. The dependence for the transient operating mode of the unit on the growth of heat losses has been established. Thermal images of different shapes of the unit dielectric chambers have been provided as well as temperature field distribution through the chamber wall.

Decontaminating N95 respirators for reuse could mitigate shortages during the COVID-19 pandemic. Although the United States Center for Disease Control has identified Ultraviolet-C irradiation as one of the most promising methods for N95 decontamination, very few studies have evaluated the efficacy of Ultraviolet-C for SARS-CoV-2 inactivation. In addition, most decontamination studies are performed using mask coupons that do not recapitulate the complexity of whole masks. We sought to directly evaluate the efficacy of Ultraviolet-C mediated inactivation of SARS-CoV-2 on N95 respirators. To that end we created a portable UV-C light-emitting diode disinfection chamber and tested decontamination of SARS-CoV-2 at different sites on two models of N95 respirator. We found that decontamination efficacy depends on mask model, material and location of the contamination on the mask. Our results emphasize the need for caution when interpreting efficacy data of UV-C decontamination methods.

The transmission of SARS-CoV-2 through contact with contaminated surfaces or objects is an important form of transmissibility. Thus, in this study, we evaluated the performance of a disinfection chamber designed for instantaneous dispersion of the biocidal agent solution, in order to characterize a new device that can be used to protect individuals by reducing the transmissibility of the disease through contaminated surfaces. We proposed the necessary adjustments in the configuration to improve the dispersion on surfaces and the effectiveness of the developed equipment. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations of the present technology with a chamber having six nebulizer nozzles were performed and validated through qualitative and quantitative comparisons, and experimental tests were conducted using the method Water-Sensitive Paper (WSP), with an exposure to the biocidal agent for 10 and 30 s. After evaluation, a new passage procedure for the chamber with six nozzles and a new configuration of the disinfection chamber were proposed. In the chamber with six nozzles, a deficiency was identified in its central region, where the suspended droplet concentration was close to zero. However, with the new passage procedure, there was a significant increase in wettability of the surface. With the proposition of the chamber with 12 nozzles, the suspended droplet concentration in different regions increased, with an average increase of 266%. The experimental results of the new configuration proved that there was an increase in wettability at all times of exposure, and it was more significant for an exposure of 30 s. Additionally, even in different passage procedures, there were no significant differences in the results for an exposure of 10 s, thereby showing the effectiveness of the new configuration or improved spraying and wettability by the biocidal agent, as well as in minimizing the impact caused by human factor in the performance of the disinfection technology.

Community empowerment at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Education Hospital (RSHP) Universitas Airlangga aimed to prevent Covid-19 among students, picket workers, employees, veterinarians, nurses, and the client who bring animals to RSHP. The program starts from observation to implementation in May-October 2020. Implementation of community empowerment program in collaboration with the KKN program in Surabaya. This program introduced the disinfection chamber model of an automatic sprayer that is safe for health and complies with the standard operating procedure (SOP) for the use of the disinfection chamber. The existence of a disinfection chamber at the entrance to the campus and RSHP has contributed a lot to prevent the spread of Covid-19. The post-test results showed an increase in public understanding of the existence of disinfection chamber as a way to reduce the spread of Covid-19 and implement health protocols and healthy lifestyles.

Corona virus disease (COVID-19) has claimed more lives in recent times than any other known disease. It is a pandemic that the World is battling. Observation of precautionary measures remains one of the strongest means of curtailing the spread of the disease. These measures include social distancing, use of face mask and personal protective equipment, as well as proper sanitization with recommended disinfectant or sanitiser. This work, therefore, delves into the development of a disinfection chamber for spraying sanitiser liquid to the human body and large surfaces as well as parts infected with the virus via pump-nozzle. The chamber is 7ft tall and is made of wood and aluminium. The electronic part of the disinfection chamber comprises an infrared sensor for detecting the presence of humans in the chamber, PIC16F72 microcontroller which sends a signal to DC pump via the output relay for releasing the sanitiser for five seconds, and power supply unit which provides the required D.C supply to power the circuit. The performance test shows the disinfection chamber is functional and releases the sanitizing liquid for five seconds after which it cuts off to await the entrance of another person. The device is recommended for use in hospitals, campuses, offices, and so on.

Indonesia is currently included in the covid19 virus pandemic category. Many cities have been hit by the Covid19 virus. The city of Madiun has also been confirmed positive for the Covid19 virus. Therefore, to prevent the transmission of the Covid19 virus, prevention efforts are needed. Islamic boarding schools are a gathering place for students from various cities in Indonesia. If there are no prevention efforts at the Islamic boarding school, there will be a new covid19 virus cluster. Community service activities through the partnership program for the Al Mujaddadiyah Islamic Boarding School are focused on developing technology to overcome the prevention of the Covid19 virus in the Islamic boarding school environment. The hope is that with this training, boarding school caregivers and students can better understand the health protocols applied to technology to prevent the spread of the Covid19 virus in the cottage environment.

Abstract Issue During the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, several critical issues emerged. One of these was to identify which was the best terminal disinfection strategy for hospital rooms of a COVID-19. Description of the problem. Our University Hospital adopted ozone disinfection two years ago, recognized internationally as a 'safe gas' and is an excellent disinfectant for its characteristics of attacking and oxidizing each type of organic and inorganic compound and specifically also works against SARS-CoV-2. Results 23 ozone generators were purchased, 20 ozonizers were assigned to departments with high environmental sanitation needs, 3 ozonizers supplied to the ozonator team. For the correct use of the equipment, 200 operators were trained in a certified way. The rooms are ozonated with pre-established frequency and whenever a COVID-19 patient is cared for. The ozonation team sanitizes rooms in wards that are not equipped but that may have hosted patients with carriers. Indications have been given in all the wards to create the ozonation room, that can be used as an ozone disinfection chamber, where it is possible to place garrisons and furnishings, even large-sized, that cannot be disinfected in other ways (in addition to sanitization with hypochlorite). The team also provides for the ozonation of ambulances with a predetermined periodicity or in the case of transport of patient carrying SARS-CoV-2. All activities are monitored with a special traceability card. Lessons Terminal disinfection of environments that have hosted patients with COVID-19. Terminal disinfection of the devices used on patients with COVID-19. Increased safety for operators carrying out environmental sanitation. Key messages Fight SARS-COV-2 with ozone. Disinfecting with ozone is safety for everyone.
