Abstract: Application of CLEFT-Q score instrument in the assessment of surgical outcomes for cleft lip and/or cleft palate based on patient reports is still relatively new. This study was aimed to establish the normative value of the Indonesian version of CLEFT-Q score in post-cleft lip surgery patients and to differentiate the results of cleft lip surgery according to the score based on the type of cleft, age, and sex. This was a preliminary study using the Indonesian CLEFT-Q instrument. Patients were interviewed for filling out the Indonesian version of CLEFT-Q after surgery. There were 75 samples in this study. Significant results were found in the association between age and CLEFT-Q score (p<0.05 and R>0.35). Variable selection for multi-variable analysis included cleft type and age in the model, where age alone indicated a significant relationship. The linear regression model involved the relationship between CLEFT-Q scores and gender, age, and cleft type as covariates. The correlation shown was classified as having moderate strength (R=0.46) for all covariates. In conclusion, the normative value of the Indonesian version of CLEFT-Q score with an approach to post-cleft lip surgery patients got a value that was in accordance with the highest standard in the literature, namely 91. The results of cleft lip surgery according to the Indonesian version of CLEFT-Q score based on the type of cleft, age and gender can be applied according to the literature. Keywords: cleft lip; cleft palate; cleft lip and palate; Indonesian version of CLEFT-Q Abstrak: Penerapan skor CLEFT-Q dalam penilaian luaran operasi bibir sumbing dan/atau langit-langit terbelah berdasarkan laporan pasien masih relatif baru. Kata kunci: cleft lip; cleft palate; cleft lip and palate; skor CLEFT-Q berbahasa Indonesia

In the article, the authors pay attention to the issue of value preferences of Russian youth on the example of the one of the regions of the Russian Federation – the Kemerovo region - Kuzbass. The problem of political activity of young people is considered through the system of current legislation on youth, socialization and directly value orientations and preferences of young people. The main legal acts regulating youth policy in the Russian Federation are marked. As an empirical basis a number of methodological approaches were used-the system approach (D. Easton, G. Almond), the normative-value approach of J. Rawls, a method of expert interviews and questionnaire survey. The article shows the inconsistency of the value beliefs of modern youth, which is caused by the Russian model of democratic development.

There was carried out the investigation of operational response indicators (speed of movement, first unit arrival time, coverage rate) of fire service units at settlements of the Krasnodar Region and the Sverdlovsk Region. There were highlighted the cities in which it is necessary to improve fire service activities in order to make the first unit arrival time closer to the normative value.

AbstractAs happiness is directly experienced by the individual as valuable, its normative value needs no additional justification. Things like institutions and moral principles may be used to promote happiness directly and indirectly. In time, they may be mistakenly valued for their own sake, while ultimately their values should be based on their contribution to happiness. We are born, brought up, and socially influenced to have certain preferences which are largely consistent with our own happiness. Where they diverge, then apart from the effects on the happiness in the future and of others (hence really no divergence in the longer/wider perspective of happiness), ultimately it is happiness that is really consistent with rationality. Arguments for happiness as the only intrinsic value are made and defended against objections or opposite arguments (including ‘Rather be unhappy Socrates than a happy pig’, Kant's categorical imperatives, Rawls’ maximin, etc.). The apparent acceptability of these opposing positions is due either to our imperfect rationality and/or inadequate account on the effects in the future and on others.

AbstractThis paper argues that moral distress is a distinctive category of reactive attitudes that are taken to be part and parcel of the social dynamics for recognition. While moral distress does not demonstrate evidence of wrongdoing, it does emotionally articulate a demand for normative attention that is addressed to others as moral providers. The argument for this characterization of the deontic power of moral distress builds upon two examples in which the cognitive value of the victim’s emotional experience is controversial: the case of micro-aggression, and the case of misplaced distress. In contrast to appraisal and perceptual models of distress, it is argued that its epistemic and normative value is dialogical rather than evidential, in that it presses claims that engage the audience in a normative discussion about the normative standing of the claimant, the proper grounds of the attitude, and the normative standards used to assess them.

Background: Stress ultrasonography (US) has been shown to be a valid procedure for evaluating chronic anterior talofibular ligament (ATFL) injury. The ratio of stress/nonstress ATFL length (ATFL ratio) as measured on US is clinically useful; however, there are no published normative data concerning this ratio. Purpose: To report a normative value of the ATFL ratio on US and evaluate the relationships between sex, generalized joint laxity (GJL), and the grade of anterior drawer test (ADT). Study Design: Cross-sectional study; Level of evidence, 3. Methods: The ATFL lengths were prospectively measured in the stress and nonstress positions (manual maximal anterior drawer position) for participants with noninjured ankles from March 2020 to March 2021. GJL was defined as a Beighton score ≥4. A manual ADT was also performed. The ATFL ratio was calculated, and the relationships between sex, GJL, and ADT grade were evaluated. Results: A total of 333 ankles in 184 participants (mean age, 24.5 ± 2.7 years; range, 20-33 years) were eligible for the analysis. GJL was found in 69 ankles (20.7%). The mean ATFL ratio was 1.08 ± 0.04 (95% CI, 1.08-1.09; range, 1.01-1.24), and there was a significant difference between male (1.07 ± 0.04; 95% CI, 1.07-1.08; range, 1.02-1.23) and female (1.09 ± 0.04; 95% CI, 1.08-1.10; range, 1.01-1.24) ankles ( P = .001). In male ankles, the ATFL ratio was significantly greater in participants with GJL (1.11 ± 0.06 vs 1.07 ± 0.03; P = .02) or a higher grade of ADT (grade 2 vs grade 1: 1.11 ± 0.06 vs 1.07 ± 0.03, P = .002). These findings were not observed in female ankles. Conclusion: The normative value of the ATFL ratio on stress US was 1.07 ± 0.04 in men and 1.09 ± 0.04 in women. The ATFL ratio was affected by the presence of GJL in men but not in women. These findings will be useful for future studies seeking to establish the cutoff value of the ATFL ratio for diagnosing chronic lateral ankle stability on stress US.

The European intercultural context, especially in the current pandemic, requires the acceleration of modernization of the system of ensuring human security and safety by re-conceptualizing the personal security of the individual, as well as the culture of security and safety. In this context, the concept of human security was developed in direct connection with the theory of the society at risk, in which special role is given to the security of the person. The Republic of Moldova (RM) interacts at institutional, normative, value, civilizational level with the European intercultural space in the format determined including by the Association Agreement of the RM with the EU, signed on June 27, 2014. The priorities of the Agreement are related to the specifics of the Moldovan society, to its modernization needs. Therefore, the sustainable development of the RM, as part of the European space, with new values and perspectives determines a revaluation of the individual’s primary needs, including the need for personal safety and security and for an easier intercultural dialogue in a European intercultural space meant to become a stronghold of harmony, security, development and prosperity.

Retail trade is one of many links of the food supply chain to the consumer. Therefore, the efficiency of its operation is influenced by the earlier located links in the chain, first of all by agriculture, processing, logistics, and wholesale trade, as well as by consumers. The research problem in this paper, specified in the form of questions, is as follows: Has the 2020 pandemic reduced the performance of food retailing functions in less-developed regions of Poland? What is the assessment of the degree of their implementation? What directions should be taken at the micro and macro level to increase resilience to the negative effects of future crisis phenomena, in the implementation of the functions of this trade? The cognitive aim of the study was to examine the degree of performance of economic and social functions by the food retail trade in Poland, after one year of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic (with the example of the Lubuskie region). For its implementation, four research hypotheses were formulated. The work was carried out in three stages, theoretical-interpretative, methodological, empirical, and consisted of three parts. In the experimental part, the method of CATI interviews with store owners/managers and the method of advanced statistics, classification, and visualization were used. The article brings new cognitive and normative value concerning food retailing in Poland. The results of the study enabled the realization of the aim of the paper and the verification of the hypotheses. The conclusions are presented in the summary of the individual parts of the empirical data analysis and in the conclusion of the paper. The paper contributes to the literature a new recognition of the degree of performance of the seven examined functions by food retail units, during the pandemic.
