Cobalt(I) complexes supported by a series of PCcarbeneP pincer ligands of varying donicity, differing in the aryl group linking the phosphine arms with the anchoring carbon donor, are described. Addition of the proligands to cobalt bromide results in the formation of a series of cobalt(II) tetrahedral complexes, Ln-1, which serve as excellent precur-sors to the corresponding PCalkylP and PCcarbeneP complexes. Square planar cobalt PCcarbeneP complexes, L2R-3-X (X = Cl, Br), are readily synthesized by addition of a bulky aryloxide radical to the corresponding PCalkylP complex, L1-2-Br or via addition of L2R to ClCo(PPh3)3 in the presence of trityl radical or by addition of NaHBEt3 and trityl radical to iso-lated L2R-1. For the L2NMe2 PCcarbeneP complexes, salt metathesis reactions with either CsOH·H2O, LiCH2TMS, or LiNH2 result in the corresponding hydroxo, alkyl, and amine complexes, L2NMe2-3-R (R = OH, CH2TMS, NH2). Reaction of L2NMe2-3-OH with benzoic acid affords the 2-O2CPh derivative The nature of the carbene bond in either ligand plat-form as well as the effects of the X-type capping ligand on the Co=C bond are explored computationally and show that triplet structures are relatively more stable in for the less electron donating ligand L1 while singlet Co(I) carbenes dominate for the more electron rich L2 derivatives. For L2NMe2 complexes, the effect of the trans ligand X was also probed. Pi donors imbue the carbene with singlet character while the strongly  donating alkyl derivative exhibits significant triplet character.

Background: The manipulation of the estrous cycle or induction of estrus is a commonly used technique in sheep industry. The goal of this study was to identify and characterize differences of non-coding RNAs (lincRNAs) expression between induced estrus and natural estrus using the BGISEQ-500 plat form in 7 Mongolian sheep, which will provide insights into the regulation mechanisms of lncRNAs in different reproduction mode of sheep. Methods: During the late spring, ovarian, pituitary, hypothalamic, pineal and uterine tissue samples were collected from four artificially induced estrus and three naturally estrus Mongolian sheep. Total RNA was extracted from the five tissues using TRIzol reagent (Invitrogen) and treated with DNase I following the manufacturer’s instructions. A total of 35 sheep samples were sequenced using the BGISEQ-500 plat form. Bioinformatics methods were used to analysis expression difference analysis between groups, SNP and InDel, alternative splicing, lncRNA’s miRNA precursor prediction, lncRNA target gene and family prediction. Result: 211 novel lncRNAs were systematically identified using RNA-Seq technology. Meanwhile, we found that there are diversifications of lncRNAs in induced estrus vs. nature estrus of ewes. Therefore, we predict that, under the action of exogenous hormones, many physiological processes of ewes may be affected to varying degrees through the change of LncRNA to a variety of pathways.

This qualitative study aimed to investigate the norms and daily practices around mobile and social technology by examining what happens when mobile phones and social media on any devices are removed from one’s daily life. Most studies on technology non-use focus on one device or plat-form. In this study, participants (N = 78) relinquished not only social media but also their mobile phones for a 10-day period, and made observations on their experiences before, during, and after the “withdrawal.” Participants initially experienced guilt and anxiety over violating a social contract by not being available and reachable anytime and anywhere, but mostly found their social capital — particularly bonding social capital — reinforced through the withdrawal. On the personal front, participants (re)discovered certain “life skills” like memory, imagination, and creativity in navigating their physical world and spending their time.

C. elegans is an established model organism for studying genetic and drug effects on ageing, many of which are conserved in humans. It is also an important model for basic research, and C. elegans pathologies is a new emerging field. Here we develop a proof-of-principal convolutional neural network-based plat-form to segment C. elegans and extract features that might be useful for lifespan prediction. We use a dataset of 734 worms tracked throughout their lifespan and classify worms into long-lived and short-lived. We designed WormNet - a convolutional neural network (CNN) to predict the worm lifespan class based on young adult images (day 1 - day 3 old adults) and showed that WormNet, as well as, InceptionV3 CNN can successfully classify lifespan. Based on U-Net architecture we develop HydraNet CNNs which allow segmenting worms accurately into anterior, mid-body and posterior parts. We combine HydraNet segmentation, WormNet prediction and the class activation map approach to determine the segments most important for lifespan classification. Such a tandem segmentation-classification approach shows posterior part of the worm might be more important for classifying long-lived worms. Our approach can be useful for the acceleration of anti-ageing drug discovery and for studying C. elegans pathologies.

Instagram — one of the biggest social media platforms of our times, brings together many different kinds of users. Content creators and companies try to engage their followers by building relationships with them. Both groups are connected by their willingness to have a positive experience with the plat-form. It uses many functions which greatly facilitate using it. However, why do we even need Instagram in our everyday life?

The paper is armed at determining the mass and volume parameters of tractor trailers and looking far the qualitative and quantitative relations between the linear dimensions of the platform of transport vehicles and their mass and volume parameters. The mass and nominal loading capacity of trailers, as well as the volume of their plat form according to the main ramps were taken as the above parameters. The linear dimensions of the platform determine their internal length and width and the height by the mass ramps. The investigated statistical binary relations are assessed by the coefficients correlation which augured additional values within the limits of 0.319–0.891, as well as by the correlation relations between the resultative indices according to factorial values from 0.530 to 0.868. The qualitative chandes in the resultative indices depending on the factorial indices with the use of standard computer prodrams are described by the regression equations. In accordance with R2-coefficient by means of equalizing the experimental values of the investigated resultative indices by a set of approximizing functions the character of the corresponding changes is determined. Depending on the mass and nominal loading capacity of the trailer and the volume of the platform according to the main ramps its internal length is changed according to rectilinear dependences with additional angular coefficients its width – by gradually increasing hyperbolas, and the height of the platform according to the main ramps gradually increases according to the degree functions. With respect to the changes in the height of the platform depending on the investigated factorial indices by the equations of gradually increasing hyperbolas as to their asymptotes the authors have determined the marginal increase in the height of the main ramps of the platform. Along with the change in the mass and nominal loading capacity of the trailers from 0.735 to 7.10 t and from 2.0 to 24.0 t respectively per ton, the increase in the mass and loading capacity of the trailer the length of the platform increases with the same consequence by 424 and 152 mm. Along with the change of the platform volume per from 2.0 to 15.2 m3, its increase per m3 is accompanied by the increase in the length of the platform by 330 mm. Along with the increase of mass and loading capacity of the trailer in more than 4 and 10 t respectively, as well as the increase of the platform volume in more than 8 m3, the intensity of the increase of its width slows down gradually. The marginal increase in the height of the main ramps of the platform along with the change in its volume, mass and loading capacity of the trailer amounts to 713, 714 and 775 mm respectively. The research results can be used for prognosticating the dimensions of the trailers under their calculation and design, as well as under the organization of the transporting support of the mechanized production of agricultural produce.
