To thrive on the earth, highly sophisticated systems to finely control reproductive development have been evolved in plants. In addition, deciphering the mechanisms underlying the reproductive development has been considered as a main research avenue because it leads to the improvement of the crop yields to fulfill the huge demand of foods for the growing world population. Numerous studies revealed the significance of ROS regulatory systems and carbohydrate transports and metabolisms in the regulation of various processes of reproductive development. However, it is poorly understood how these mechanisms function together in reproductive tissues. In this review, we discuss mode of coordination and integration between ROS regulatory systems and carbohydrate transports and metabolisms underlying reproductive development based on the hitherto findings. We then propose three mechanisms as key players that integrate ROS and carbohydrate regulatory systems. These include ROS-dependent programmed cell death (PCD), mitochondrial and respiratory metabolisms as sources of ROS and energy, and functions of arabinogalactan proteins (AGPs). It is likely that these key mechanisms govern the various signals involved in the sequential events required for proper seed production.

The influence of pH on the complex formation of phosphoethanolamine and pyrimidine nucleosides (uridine, cytidine and thymidine) with copper(II) ions was studied. All investigations were performed in aqueous solution. The overall stability constants of the complexes and non-covalent compounds were obtained using the potentiometric method with computer calculation of the data. Moreover, equilibrium constants of the reaction were determined. The mode of coordination was obtained using spectroscopic methods. Analysis of the potentiometric and spectroscopic data confirmed the involvement and effectiveness of phosphate groups in species formation as well as the influence of pH on the mode of coordination of the investigated biomaterials. In the next step, studied complexes will be applied as potential biomaterials with biological applications.

A new class of six mono- (1; 3-Cl-, 2; 5-Cl-, 3; 6-Cl-) and di-(4; 3,6-Cl, 5; 5,6-Cl-, 6; 3,5-Cl-) chloro-substituted pyrazin-2-amine ligands (1–6) form complexes with copper (I) bromide, to give 1D and 2D coordination polymers through a combination of halogen and hydrogen bonding that were characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis. These Cu(I) complexes were prepared indirectly from the ligands and CuBr2 via an in situ redox process in moderate to high yields. Four of the pyrazine ligands, 1, 4–6 were found to favor a monodentate mode of coordination to one CuI ion. The absence of a C6-chloro substituent in ligands 1, 2 and 6 supported N1–Cu coordination over the alternative N4–Cu coordination mode evidenced for ligands 4 and 5. These monodentate systems afforded predominantly hydrogen bond (HB) networks containing a catenated (μ3-bromo)-CuI ‘staircase’ motif, with a network of ‘cooperative’ halogen bonds (XB), leading to infinite polymeric structures. Alternatively, ligands 2 and 3 preferred a μ2-N,N’ bridging mode leading to three different polymeric structures. These adopt the (μ3-bromo)-CuI ‘staircase’ motif observed in the monodentate ligands, a unique single (μ2-bromo)-CuI chain, or a discrete Cu2Br2 rhomboid (μ2-bromo)-CuI dimer. Two main HB patterns afforded by self-complimentary dimerization of the amino pyrazines described by the graph set notation R22(8) and non-cyclic intermolecular N–H∙∙∙N’ or N–H∙∙∙Br–Cu leading to infinite polymeric structures are discussed. The cooperative halogen bonding between C–Cl∙∙∙Cl–C and the C–Cl∙∙∙Br–Cu XB contacts are less than the sum of the van der Waals radii of participating atoms, with the latter ranging from 3.4178(14) to 3.582(15) Å. In all cases, the mode of coordination and pyrazine ring substituents affect the pattern of HBs and XBs in these supramolecular structures.

Two alkaline-earth coordination compounds, [Ba(C8H4N4O2)(H2O)4] n , (I), and [Sr(C8H4N4O2)(H2O)3] n , (II), from the one-pot hydrolysis transformation of benzoyl chloride and the in situ self-assembled [2 + 3] cycloaddition of nitrile are presented. These coordination compounds are prepared by reacting 4-cyanobenzoyl chloride with divalent alkaline-earth salts (BaCl2 and SrCl2) in aqueous solution under hydrothermal conditions. The mononuclear coordination compounds (I) and (II) show the same mode of coordination of the organic ligands. The cohesion of the crystalline structures is provided by hydrogen bonds and π-stacking interactions, thus forming three-dimensional supramolecular networks. The two compounds have a three-dimensional (3,6)-connected topology, and the structural differences between them is in the number of water molecules around the alkaline earth metals. Having the same emission frequencies, the compounds exhibit photoluminescence properties with a downward absorption value from (I) to (II).

This paper analyzes the concomitant link between the evolution of purchasing policy and the evolution of supply chain management. The duality of the mode of coordination of the suppliers depends on the relationship between the architect and the first-tier suppliers, according to the strategic degree of their competence. The contribution of this paper is to illuminate the plasticity, the adaptation of the purchasing strategy. The purchasing strategy therefore adapts to the nature of the equipment or systems outsourced, the stakes and expectations are not at all the same. The more complex the product manufactured by the subcontractor, the more the purchasing strategy will seek the mastery of a particular skill. The more standard the product, the more the purchasing strategy aims at reducing costs. The purpose of this paper is twofold. We will show, on the one hand, that there is within the same productive organization a duality of modes of coordination, On the other hand that there is an interaction between the purchasing strategy and these different modes of coordination.

This paper describes and analyzes the rationale for concurrent use of different contract farming arrangements (CFAs) by a large agroprocessor. We postulate that plural governance is determined by ambiguity over the best mode of coordination, complexity of transactions and strategic behavior by the agroprocessor. We carried out an in-depth case study of an agroprocessor that has multiple CFAs in the soybean industry in Malawi. We find that ambiguity explains the formation of plural governance structures, but strategic behavior is the main motivation for their persistence. Hence, the study findings unite hitherto opposing schools of thought on the stability of plural forms. The results imply that the incentives and disincentives of agribusiness firms to source through different CFAs should be considered in designing policies and programmes to promote contract farming.

Inside urban digital projects, clashes occur between scholars (urbanists, anthropologists, sociologists, geographers, etc.) and technical specialists (programmers, data analysts, web developers, etc.). These clashes take the form of misunderstanding from the lack of a single language, and the criticism of the normative methodologies of each other, both of which allows us to highlight typical problems. From the materials of in-depth interviews with representatives of urban projects dealing with digital methods and data, we show that the projects create two main directions to resolve problems and coordinate participants from different epistemological traditions: one direction is finding a common language, which is a more pragmatic mode of coordination through “border objects.” We demonstrate these two areas using the example of working with data and methods within interdisciplinary teams. In addition, we single out five patterns of coordination between urban scholars and programmers (a mixture of expertise, collaboration, formal management, temporary assembly, and the orders). Their predominance depends on the presence of institutional pressure, the organizational division of labor, the availability of financial resources for hiring technical specialists and managers, as well as a strong leader who determines the situation.

Since British sociologist Titmuss authoritatively conceived blood donation as an altruistic ‘gift relationship’, blood establishments have adopted blood’s highly symbolic status as a core professional belief. However, important developments since the 1970s have resulted in blood’s bio-objectification, making blood a renewed object of concern. Because different versions of this bio-object are simultaneously present and interfere with one another, we ask how the organization renders this multiplicity workable? Studying how ontological versions are enacted in a specific blood establishment and how the organizational model of a blood establishment functions as a mode of coordination, we develop a praxiographic appreciation of blood in the context of a specific Belgian blood establishment. We show how the organizational mode of coordination allocates versions of blood in specific departments along functional and chronological dimensions. Blood remains the object of a gift relationship but is accompanied by blood’s enactment and representation as the object of suspicion, management, research/biology, and a blood economy. Furthermore, the organizational mode of coordination also allocates personalized and depersonalized enactments according to the level of contact with the donor population. This reflects a third dimension: (de)personalization of blood. Whereas the organizational mode of coordination is successful in rendering blood’s multiplicity workable, at times, it causes suboptimal practices. Moreover, we showed how sometimes a focus on intra-departmental modes of coordination is necessary to understand how blood’s multiplicity complicates the practices of the blood establishment.
