Significance These will be the third polls under President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. As for the two previous votes -- the November 2020 constitutional referendum and the June 2021 legislative election -- participation in the local elections is likely to be poor. Such low voter turnout is progressively eroding the government’s legitimacy. Impacts The military leadership may blame Tebboune for overseeing three failed elections and could further marginalise him from decision-making. Tebboune will remain president, but he and his cabinet may increasingly be managed by the Ministry of Defence. Khaled Nezzar, the architect of the 1991 coup, has been rehabilitated, which appears to be influencing military strategy.

The recent election was indeed a strange and nuance experience to me, although I have voted in two national elections. Through which the reader may find me to be political ignorant, and I admit that I am and I have never been truly enthusiastic at politics. But with my own experience with the 2021 Legislative Election, I am convinced that I need to fix that attitude sooner or later because how potentially political factors will affect my life.

Political deception is inherently ‘conflictual’ not only in the Western Democracies but also and even more so in Africa. With a combination of interviews and personal observations, including a good number of secondary/tertiary source-material, the article which is analyzed in thematic synthesis reveals that during the 2013 legislative election in the Nkambe Central Subdivision of the North West region of Cameroon, conflicts of clan-based, family and age-set nature emanated with far-reaching consequences on ethnic relations and development.
