This paper unravels the critical aspect of science and technology through research and development indicators as sources, drivers, and predictors of economic growth from the perspective of two developing countries, namely: Philippines and Thailand (ASEAN), and two developed economies, namely: Japan and Australia (ASEAN-X) in Asia-Pacific Region. The data set ranges from 1980 to 2019 and is collected from World Development Indicators of the World Bank, Institute for Statistics of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). Research and Development (R&D) is a tool for generating new knowledge and serves as input for technological advancement. In the long run, it has been proven that technology can sustain permanent economic development in the economy. In developed economies, the nexus between the aforementioned variables is robust and significant. Thus, the R&D indicators can be used as a predictor of economic growth. However, in developing economies, the nexus of variables involved is negligible and insignificant. Hence, the R&D indicators cannot be effectively utilized as a predictor of economic growth. Furthermore, the study combined the two sets of panel data and a relevant conclusion was drawn. A country-panel regression and causality analysis were performed based on the empirics of macroeconomics.

Formative assessment plays a vital role in the delivery of quality and relevant education among learners. Data derived from the assessment results provide pieces of evidence for teachers to determine learners who need assistance, advance instructional objectives, track learners’ progress toward those standards, and identify what intervention and support are required. This descriptive-survey research examined the impact of exit slips in predicting intermediate pupils’ science achievement. Seventy-three pupils were involved in the study who were selected through a total sampling. Weighted mean, ranking, standard deviation, mean percentage score, frequency, Pearson correlation coefficient, and coefficient of determination were utilized to process and analyze statistically the data using SPSS. The findings of the study highlighted that exit slips can help learners in their learning since they reflect pupils’ understanding and increase accountability among them. The results revealed that there was a high positive association between the self-rating report and the academic performance of the respondents. The impact of self-reported rating was found significant on the performance of the pupils. Hence, when teachers took necessary and relevant remediation as well as enrichment based on the self-reported rating, academic performance may be improved. It was recommended that teachers may adapt the use of exit slips in their classes to improve academic performance among learners.

This paper explores possible scenarios for the Research Culture of Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges (CSPC), to be known as Polytechnic State University of Bicol (PSUB). The paper utilized Jim Dator’s four archetypes of alternative futures to construct PSUB’s Research Culture possible scenarios by 2030. This paper highlights the assumption that the research culture in PSUB is of world class quality and all of its faculty members are actively involved in research, its disciplined, collapsed, transformative, or business as usual scenarios. Four plausible scenarios have surfaced in this paper: Progressive Research Culture, Lax and Deficit Research Culture, Sophisticated Research Culture, and Transformative Research Culture. The article explored areas for a preferred future by 2030. It requires multiple drivers along faculty, students, administration and community for a better research culture. This study proved to be useful in crafting and anticipating the future scenarios of PSUB’s research culture. Preliminary as it may, this study highlighted important building blocks of the four future scenarios. Dator’s framework was proved to be very useful in developing the four scenarios, the use of other future study tools will further amplify plausible scenarios for the Polytechnic State University of Bicol.

The global crisis of the COVID-19 pandemic affected all areas of life significantly paving the way to the new normal set-up. In response, the higher education system in the Philippines opted to implement flexible learning as its delivery model. Flexible learning unlocked critical areas in redesigning the pre-pandemic learning and teaching paradigm, one of which is the deployment of learning management systems or online platforms to contribute to the effective implementation of flexible learning. The present study attempts to explore Google Classroom’s potentials and acceptability as a tool of support to flexible language learning and teaching. A survey questionnaire was given to a group of 44 university students who completed the Purposive Communication course. Using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) analysis of data, the findings revealed that the majority of the students agreed that Google Classroom could provide accessibility, utility, and students’ satisfaction. Similarly, students agreed it could support communication and interaction and instruction delivery in flexible learning. Further, a qualitative-inductive approach using thematic analysis of the open-ended question in the survey questionnaire revealed that Google Classroom supports flexible language learning through the following: (a) easy monitoring of tasks, assignments, projects, and announcements; (b) excellent storage of learning materials (ex. backup files); (c) motivates students to manage time; and (d) motivates students to perform well. Therefore, it occurs that Google Classroom, as an educational interactive tool, has the potential to contribute to the effective delivery of flexible language teaching and learning, provided that responsive and timely faculty guidance is in place.

The study determined the home quarantine challenges and psychological status of Bangladeshi University students in the COVID-19 pandemic break-out. The study also looked into the impact of home quarantine challenges on the psychological status of the student. A well-structured questionnaire was created and circulated to respondents through various social media platforms and utilized the snowball sampling technique. A total of 250 graduate and undergraduate students were taken as respondents of this study. Statistical Packages for Social Science (SPSS) software was used to complete the data analysis procedure. The findings of the study show that the most noteworthy home quarantine challenges for Bangladeshi University students are the lack of awareness of home quarantine advantages (82%), insufficient financial support from their families (78%), and unsatisfactory medical support (77%). Also, home quarantine challenges are positively connected to psychological status (r=.364**) and it had a significant impact (β=.287, p<0.00) on psychological status in the pandemic period. The study also aided the policymakers in the better understanding of home quarantine challenges and the psychological status of Bangladeshi students. However, out of seven divisions in Bangladesh only students of Dhaka and Sylhet were selected to be the respondents. This caused difficulty in generalizing the findings of the study.

Filipino educators are known for their remarkable traits in the teaching profession here and abroad. One of the most in-demand fields is English teachers. Studies have shown that non-native speakers have high regard for Filipino teachers in ESL/EFL schools. Because of the availability of technology in today’s time, Filipino teachers do not need to go abroad to teach international students. This study utilized a single-case research method with a single participant who has been in the online industry for almost eight years now. Teacher John of Company A shared his experience highlighting the opportunities and challenges he encountered as a home-based online teacher. The study is guided with constructivism as the main framework of the study and thematic analysis to generate the themes of the data. The themes identified include: background of the participant; the application process; adjustment and investment to the company; handling a class; company rules and regulations; personal and professional development. The findings of the study showed that the opportunities and challenges faced by online teachers paved the way for their personal and professional development. The researcher recommended that other researchers could explore factors affecting the computer-mediated set-up of English language teaching.

Generally, when the independent variable of a given exponential function is used as an exponent, the function is considered an exponential. Thus, the following can be examples of exponential functions: $f(x) = ab^x + c$, $f(x) = ae^bx + c$, or $f(x) = e^{a^2+bx+c}$. However, deriving functions of these types given the set of ordered pairs is difficult. This study was conducted to derive formulas for the arbitrary constants a ,b, and $c$ of the exponential function $f(x) = ab^x + c$. It applied the inductive method by using definitions of functions to derive the arbitrary constants from the patterns produced. The findings of the study were: a) For linear, given the table of ordered pairs, equal differences in $x$ produce equal first differences in $y$; b) for quadratic, given the table of ordered pairs, equal differences in $x$ produce equal second differences in $y$; and c) for an exponential function, given a table of ordered pairs, equal differences in $x$ produce a common ratio in the first differences in y. The study obtained the following forms: $b=\sqrt[d]{r}$, $a=\frac{q}{b^n {(b^d-1)}}$, $c=p-ab^n$. Since most models developed used the concept of linear and multiple regressions, it is recommended that pattern analysis be used specifically when data are expressed in terms of ordered pairs.
