Purpose - The purpose of the article to know how does the learning process while incorporating Hello English application in vocabulary learning and to know how are student's perception towards incorporating Hello English in English vocabulary learning. Design/methodology/approach - Research design is used by the writer is qualitative research with narrative design. The research takes from 8th-grade students of SMPN 2 Serang Baru, Bekasi. In the data collection technique, the researcher uses an interview as a way of collecting data. In data analysis, there is four-step, that is data collection, data reduction, data presentation, verification and conclusion. Findings - In the result, the writer found that students’ perception towards incorporating of Hello English in vocabulary learning has positive perception for students as seen from their responses that the Hello English application is a very good application and use in English learning, especially in learning English vocabulary. Originality/value - Teachers must be creative to create or collaborate with application designs to make language learning applications. Because the problems and learning needs in every school are known only to the teachers who teach. Paper type – Research paper

Purpose - This research aims to know the programs for creating the language environment at Al-Mashduqiah Islamic Education Center Patokan Kraksaan Probolinggo, and describe the supporting and the obstacle factors in creating the language environment at Al-Mashduqiah Islamic Education Center Patokan Kraksaan Probolinggo. Design/methodology/approach - The researcher uses a qualitative research approach with a case study research design. The techniques that used for collecting data are observation, interview and documentation. Findings - The result of this research, the programs for creating the language environment at Al-Mashduqiah Islamic Education Center Patokan Kraksaan Probolinggo there are delivering of vocabularies, repeating of vocabularies, language clubs, language court, public speaking, conversation, language month, language competition, and repairing.  The Supporting and the obstacle factors in creating the language environment at Al-Mashduqiah Islamic Education Center Patokan Kraksaan Probolinggo consist of internal factors and external factors. Originality/value – Depend on the results of this research that to creat the language environment needs some efforts such as doing the language programs, practising, implementing an effective language teaching method, and implementing the language games to reduce boredom and to motivate students in learning a foreign language. Purpose - This research aims to figure out the relationship between those two productive skills focusing on four aforementioned crucial aspects in language learning. Design/methodology/approach - This study used a cross-sectional quantitative method with 32 English Education Department students in the 6th semester at Universitas Islam Negeri Sunan Ampel Surabaya who have already been experienced in spoken and written class to be the participants. In terms of gaining the data, It used pictured cued interviews and answer the open-ended question related to the best way in finding a job and give their opinion within 30 minutes. Both of the tests were adapted from the TOEIC sample test from the Educational Testing Service (ETS). Finally, use SPSS 2.2 for the data analysis. Findings - The result shows that the organization gains the highest rate or simply as the most related part among the other language learning. Furthermore, the correlation between the two productive skills also shows a moderate correlation. Originality/value - It simply said that speaking and writing show an insignificant correlation with the organization as the most related part of language learning. Paper type – Research paper

Purpose - This study aimed to reveal the Sunda language words originally from the Arabic in the Sundanese language dictionary of Raden Satdjadibrata. It because the entry and spread of the Arabic language in Indonesia were in line with the entry and spread of Islam in this country. And the entry of Islam carried some words that were not found by the Indonesians before, and it greatly affected their language. Especially, among the Sundanese who use Sunda’s language and most of them are Muslim. Design/methodology/approach - This study was carried out on the qualitative methods based on the theory of Miles and Huberman, with data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. Findings - This study found 92 Sundanese absorption words in the letter M which came from Arabic, and from these words, we can group them into four groups. The first, and it is number 58 Sundanese words that their meaning wasn’t changed from the Arabic meaning. The second, and it's number 8 the words that extended in their meaning. The third, and it's number 13 the words that got narrow in their meaning. And the fourth, and it's number 13 are the words that changed completely their meaning. Originality/value – from a number of vocabularies found, can be used to facilitate learning Arabic for Sundanese people. so that it can help understand effectively and efficiently. Purpose - This study aims to describe the evaluation of Arabic language learning at boarding school Anwarul Huda Malang. Design/methodology/approach - This study used is qualitative research, and the data of this study are the teachers who teach in Islamic boarding school Anwarul Huda Malang and the method of data collection using interview and observation. Findings - The study describes the evaluation of the Arabic learning assessment at the Anwar Al-Huda Malang Institute which was carried out twice, namely the midterm and final semester exams. The first form of the exam is by reading a book in the midterm, and the final is by filling out an answer sheet, namely a written exam. The evaluation tools used are multiple test questions, true and false questions, and short answer test questions. Originality/value – Learning evaluation should be continuity. This means that if it is tested at the beginning by reading a book, it should also end by reading a book. It is enough that the question points need to be changed. Paper type – Research Paper

Purpose - This study aimed to analyze the learning model for speaking Arabic in the perspective of constructivism theory at Al Muhsinin Kerinci Islamic Boarding School and teachers’ effort in supporting the learning model used. Design/methodology/approach - The research method used by researchers in this study was field research is descriptive qualitative. Findings - The results showed that the learning model of Arabic speaking skills at Al Muhsinin Kerinci Islamic Boarding School studied contextual learning models consisting of daily communication activities using Arabic, quantum learning models related to independent learning activities and further learning, cooperative learning models including activities morning vocabulary learning and Arabic conversation and problem-based learning models in Arabic discussion. Originality/value – Learning Arabic speaking skills for non-native speakers in the Boarding School needs to be constructed with complications from a compilation of various learning models. Purpose:This study focuses on an online Arabic learning through synchronous and asynchronous approaches. Meanwhile, the aims of this study are; 1) describing implementation of synchronous and asynchronous online Arabic learning in higher education, 2) investigating its advantages and disadvantages, 3) offering solutions in learning Arabic through e-learning. Design/methodology/approach:This is a descriptive qualitative research that applies an observation method, interview, and documentation to collect the data. Afterwards, identity method is used to investigate the data. Then, triangulation is applied for validity check Findings/result:The result shows that synchronous e-learning is the most widely applied in learning Arabic for IPIREL UMY (75 %) and IPIEF UMY (62%). On the contrary, Arabic learning (IBA) at UINSA tends to apply asynchronous e-learning (75%). Originality/value:It is important for lecturer to prepare the best method and media for distance learning. By understanding what students need, lecturer may determine how important for students to learn Arabic through synchronous or asynchronous approach. Paper type:Research paper

Purpose - This research aimed to describe, the techniques, methods and ideology used by the author of children’s bilingual books. Design/methodology/approach - This study used descriptive qualitative in this research, in which the author used Molina & Albir and Newmark for the basic theory. Findings - The author found that the bilingual books' author mostly used literal translation as the technique. Then, for the methods, the most frequent was a word-for-word and literal translation. It meant that the author's ideology was foreignization because the bilingual books' author tended to maintain the word of the source language. Originality/value - The concluded that literal or word-for-word translation in translating stories for children is not suitable, since the sentences in the translated version tended to be complicated which is not suitable for teachers, parents, and children especially. The suggested for the bilingual books' authors use a communicative translation so that it can be easily read and understood. Paper type – Research paper

Purpose, The purpose of this study is to determine whether or not the use of YouTube videos affects the improvement of non-English department students’ pronunciation skills. Design/methodology/approach, The research design used in this study was the pretest-posttest control group design. In collecting data, researchers used several instruments in this study, namely: tests and observations. The data obtained were analyzed using a hypothetical test using a t-test. A computer program called SPSS (statistical product and service solution) for Windows Release version 22, was used in the entire data computing process. Findings/result, The results showed that the use of YouTube videos positively affected students’ pronunciation skills. In other words, YouTube can be one of the influential English pronunciation learning media for non-English department students. Originality/value, This study offered recommendations for pronunciation class to use YouTube as an alternative effective learning media. YouTube is not only functioned as a source of entertainment, but it can also be used as a learning resource, especially in pronunciation learning in the Higher Education environment. Purpose - This research aims to analyze the understanding of coherence and cohesion made by the 3rd year students of English education program on their academic writing at Islamic Institute of Bukittinggi. Design/methodology/approach - This was descriptive research which explains the phenomena concerns on the data due to field finding. This research applied for the library based work where the data was taken by using document analysis and interview. Findings - The result of the research showed that the numbers of students were still difficult to construct the idea cohesively and coherently. The result of the students’ understanding on coherence and cohesion showed that there were 59% students who were considered in need to improve and also followed by good work and could be better with 27% and 14% respectively. It can be explained that students were lack of ability to write the idea smoothly and grammatically correct. The interview result showed that there were three main reasons for this. Those are lack of motivation, limited lecture duration and prior English knowledge. Originality/value - coherence and cohesion are parts of academic writing that should be mastered by students in order to create a good thesis. Specifically for the students who will graduate from Higher Education. Paper type – Research paper
