In terms of sociology, quality of life was propounded in Asia since new industrialization entered the countries. Since then, there has been a competition among the countries of the region to reach higher and improved quality of life. To reach that goal, various plans have been put into practice. For a better quality of life, educational development was prioritized as a key factor to penetrate other dimensions of development such as health, industries, communications, and many more. In this way, all the dimensions started improving, and the process of which resulted in the decline of mortality rate, and the gradual increase in life expectancy. Through change in quality of life, all variables of life such as fertility, marriage age, hygiene and health, nutrition, family income, public culture, communications, etc. were positively affected. But, all the Asian countries have not changed in the same manner. For example, quality of life in East Asia was more affected than other parts of the continent. However, the competition is still continuing. Policy-makers and planners have come to know the reality of ever improving quality of life. Different scales/ degrees of quality of life may be shown in terms of life expectancy in Afghanistan and Japan which is 42 years for the first, and 85 years for Japan.

Elderly is a process of disappearing in the ability of tissues to repair themselves or replace themselves and maintain their normal structure and function. This study aims to find out the effectiveness of deep breathing against decreased blood pressure in the elderly who have hypertension. The study used the one group pre-post test. The sample used as many as 13 participants. The study used Purposive Sampling techniques and the tool used to obtain the data. The study used a paired sample t-test with a significance value of α=0.05. The results of this study showed that there was an effect of deep breathing on the decrease in blood pressure in the elderly who had hypertension on the first day and the third day with a value of p= 0.000<α = 0.05. There is an effect of giving deep breathing to decrease blood pressure in elderly people who have hypertension on the 4th day and the sixth day with a value of p= 0.000<α = 0.05. There is an effect of giving deep breathing to the decrease in blood pressure in the elderly who have hypertension.

The article shows that the current level of physiology does not disclose the biological mechanisms of the organism transition from one range to adapt to a higher with an increase in the regular forces of the stimulus above sub-extreme. A new trend in the physiology of adaptation - proqredient adaptation, explains the mechanism of increasing the tolerance of the organism, with dependence on psychoactive substances (PAS ). It is scientifically proved, that dependences of the organism on PAS are the states of progredient adaptation.

The holiday season is usually incredibly stressful. Seems like during this one we will have the extra pressure of having to have a great one. Looks like the world moves from managing the pandemic to having a new wave, less aggressive as the specialists say, but COVID is still here.

A review of recent literature on sexual activity in adolescents revealed a prevalence range of 6-65 % in different countries that may relate to sampling different age groups as well as various types of sexual activity. Many risk factors have been researched including parental factors (e.g. parent risk behavior), peer variables (e.g. peer pressure), religiosity (e.g. spiritual intelligence), mood (e.g. depression), health-related behavior (e.g. sexting), substance use (e.g. marijuana) and physiological markers (e.g. activation of various areas of the brain on fMRI scans). The few interventions have included motivational interviewing by clinician or computer and classroom education and condom distribution. Limitations of this literature include a paucity of longitudinal studies and intervention research.

Psychotherapy works. The results of numerous studies show that those individuals treated are better off than those not treated or on waitlists with an average effect size of .8 (Duncan et al., 2008). To put it in perspective, the effects of psychotherapy are equal to those found for coronary artery bypass surgery and 4 times greater than fluoride in the prevention dental cavities. Yet, three persistent problems plague the psychotherapy field: 1) clients drop out of therapy at alarming rates – almost half of clients decide not to continue and prematurely terminate; 2) not only do therapists not notice when clients are at risk for dropping out, they also do not detect when things are getting worse (approximately 10% of clients get worse after starting therapy); and 3) a small percentage of clients (10%) accounts for the largest amount of expenditures (Minami, 2008). This last finding may be the result of therapists not realizing when things are not working or getting worse and instead of changing course, doing more of what is not working, over and over again. Along these lines, most therapists do not have an accurate sense of their helpfulness and on average, overrate their effectiveness by 65% (Chow, 2014). Given the issues with retention, coupled with the self-assessment bias among therapists, it’s not surprising that psychotherapy outcomes have not appreciably improved over the past 40 years.

A strong evidence-based case is made for a reduction in the drink driving blood alcohol concentration (BAC), currently in the UK 80 mg to 50 mg per 100 ml which worldwide has been shown to decrease the number of drink driving including fatal accidents. An even lower BAC of 20 mg per 100 ml is recommended for the younger novice representing 7% of driving licence holders in the UK but involved in 20% of fatal and serious collisions. The danger of binge drinking and of combining alcohol with other drugs such as cannabis and marijuana is emphasised and the harmful influence of simple energy drinks when combined with alcohol. The review also emphasises the need for enhanced police enforcement and more public awareness campaigns which to date have indicated growing public support for reducing the drink driving limits.

Purpose: Youth living in the urban slums in Uganda have many unmet needs. The purpose of the current study is to briefly examine the associations between Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and alcohol use patterns, an understudied area among urban vulnerable youth, in order to provide guidance and insight for service provision for youth. Methods: The current data analysis is based on a cross-sectional survey conducted in June 2011 which consisted of a convenience sample of youth living in the slums (ages 14-24) attending a drop-in center, Uganda Youth Development Link (UYDEL). Descriptive statistics were computed. Bivariate and multivariable logistic regression analyses were used to determine psychosocial correlates with being an orphan. Results: Factors associated with alcohol use varied by sex (p<.05) (alcohol use was more common among girls), age (p<.000), (alcohol use more common among youth 18 years of age and older) and alcohol use were also more common among youth who reported the following ACEs; parents hitting each other (p<.000) , parental use of alcohol (p<.000), being hungry (p<.000), having ever lived on the street (p<.000) and having been raped (p<.000). Conclusions: The prevalence of ACEs were high in this study population which is a great concern. Moreover ACEs were associated with earlier age of alcohol use initiation, frequent and heavy drinking underscoring the need for additional support for past childhood trauma as well as alcohol prevention efforts for these vulnerable youth.
