Ipomoea carnea Jacq. grows as wild plant in India. It is identified as a useful material for several applications including medicinal purposes. Different extracts of Ipomoea carnea plant possess anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-cancer, anti-convulsant, immune modulatory, antidiabetic, hepatoprotective, anti-inflammatory, anxiolytic, sedative, cardiovascular, inhibition and wound healing activities. However, some toxicological effects have been also reported. In this review the potential of phytochemical, pharmacological and other activities of Ipomoea carnea are discussed.

AbstractVarious treatments are found to be moderately effective in managing Demodex-related diseases except tea tree oil (TTO) and terpinen-4-ol (T4O), which showed superior miticidal and anti-inflammatory effects in numerous clinical studies. Their possible effects include lowering mite counts, relieving Demodex-related symptoms, and modulating the immune system. This review summarizes the current clinical topical and oral treatments in human demodicosis, their possible mechanisms of action, side-effects and resistance in treating this condition. TTO (especially T4O) is found to be the most effective followed by metronidazole, ivermectin and permethrin in managing the disease. This is because TTO has anti-parasitic, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory and wound-healing effects. Furthermore, nanoTTO can even release its contents into fungus and Pseudomonas biofilms. Combinations of different treatments are occasionally needed for refractory cases, especially for individuals with underlying genetic predisposal or are immuno-compromised. Although the current treatments show efficacy in controlling the Demodex mite population and the related symptoms, further research needs to be focused on the efficacy and drug delivery technology in order to develop alternative treatments with better side-effects profiles, less toxicity, lower risk of resistance and are more cost-effective.

The traditional system of medicine has many plants with medicinal and pharmacological importance. The primary sources of food and medicine are plants and their highly beneficial products for various animals and humans. This article mainly focuses on the complete Leucas zeylanica profile, which is also called Ceylon slitwort, a small, erect, annual, herbaceous, terrestrial or occasionally aromatic, hispid and tufted plant of the family Lamiaceae subfamily Lamioideae. It is widely available in several places in India and Nueva Viscaya’s low altitudes open grasslands and Luzon’s Bataan Provinces and Mindanao and Panay (Davao and Lanao). This article provides a comprehensive review of the complete profile of a vital plant, Leucas zeylanica. Traditional use of Leucas zeylanica in various diseases includes Antibacterial, Anti-fungal, Anti-inflammatory, nociceptive, analgesia, gout, antidiabetic a photoprotective agent in various skin diseases. The isolated components are Alkaloids, Terpenoids, Vitamins, Carbohydrates, Flavonoids, glycosides, saponins, fixed oils, and other miscellaneous compounds. Hence, this review can be a useful reference for researchers who are willing to undertake further investigation about Leucas zeylanica.

The present study describes the isolation and structural elucidation of new alkaloid 3-deoxy-3, 11-epoxy cephalotaxine (1) from the flowers of C. ternatea. It was isolated by careful column chromatographic separation of the crude extract on silica gel 60. The structure was established based on UV, IR, 1HNMR, 13CNMR and GC-MS spectroscopy methods. The antibacterial activity of various bacterial and fungal strains and anti-inflammatory activities of the isolated compound and its crude methanol extract was studied. The highest zone of inhibition (13.0 and 12.0 mm) was shown by 1 at a dose of 200 µg/kg against E. coli and S. aureus strains and (16.0, 12.0 mm) against anti-fungal strains of C. albicans and A. flavus. The results indicated that at both dose levels (100 mg and 200 mg / kg) of isolated compound 1 had significant anti-inflammatory activity from 2nd hour onwards. The bioactive compound isolated from this plant can be employed for antimicrobial activity, also for the treatment of various bacterial and fungal infections and to show pronounced anti-inflammatory effects after three hours of injection. The present review aims for the study of phytoconstituents and pharmacological activities of some natural plants. The traditional medicinal plants have been found to acquire therapeutic activities significantly antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory antibacterial, anti-fungal, antioxidant properties etc. The plant-derived constituents are majorly for the aliments of used skin disease diabetes, bronchitis, asthma, arthritis, dry cough, ulcer and fever. The antimicrobial activity of the following plants like Justicia adathoda, Lantana Camara, Acacia leucophloea, Holoptelea integrifolia, Calotropis Procera, chlorophytum tuberosum, Bombax ceiba, Bacopa monnieri, Wedelia trilobata, Jatropha gossypifolia were obtained from the extraction of either  leaves, stem or flowers by using ethanol, methanol, aqueous, petroleum ether, chloroform. The phytochemical constituents of the extract have been shown the presence of alkaloids, glycosides, cardiac glucosides tannins, proteins, carbohydrates, saponin, quinines, triterpenes, steroids, polyphenolic, volatile oil, phenols, starch sugar, amino acid, resin and organic acids. This study evidenced the possible use of the mentioned plants as a source of natural medicines which are used as an antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, antioxidant agents. <p><strong>Background:</strong> <em>Corticosteroid has a strong anti-inflammatory effect, unfortunately long-term usege of corticosteroid drugs can suppressed immune system. This condition makes Candida albicans as an opportunistic phatogen caused Oral Candidiasis. Macrophages have an important role in the first defense against infection. Methanol extract of A.ilicifolius leaf  has anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory compounds to fight the growth of Candida albicans. <strong>Purpose:</strong> To determine the effect of methanol extract of A.ilicifolius leaf theraphy to the amount of macrophages in the healing pricess of oral candidiasis models with immunosuppressed conditions. <strong>Method:</strong> </em><em>This study was true experimental with post test only control group design. Thirty-six strain wistar, 3 months old, and 250 grams of weight which were given dexamethason 0.5 mg and tetracycline 0.5mg for 7days, after Candida albican(ATCC10231) was induced for 2 weeks (3 times/week). Rats were divided into 6 groups: untreated(K-), nystatin(K+), A.ilicifolius 8%(P1), A.ilicifolius 12%(P2), A.ilicifolius 16%(P3), A.ilicifolius 20%(P4 ) all groups were treated for 2 weeks. After being treated, the rats tongue biopsied to examine the macrophages with Haematoxylin-eosin staining and observed with microscope (400x magnification). Data analyzed statistically by One-way ANOVA. <strong>Results:</strong> the amount of macrophages at K+(47.60±4.16), P4(40.20±3.56), P3(36.20±1.92), P2(17.00±2.45) were greater than K-(15.60±4.56), P1(14.60±2.70). there are no significant difference between group K- with P1 and P2, P3 with P4. There are significant difference between group K- with K+, K- with P3 and P4. K+ with P1, P2, P3 and P4. Group P1 with P3 and P4. Group P2 with P3 and P4. </em></p><strong><em>Conclusion:</em></strong><em> A.ilicifolius extract can increase the amount of macrophages in oral candidiasis immunosuppression models</em>
